  • This is an insult to Trent Reznor.

  • johnny cash made this song what it is ! RIP JOHNNY

  • hmmm, i'm not sure about this yet, the cash version is way better, and i haven't heard the NIN one...

  • Hey everybody, there's a rumor going around that Leona shot herself up with heroin the day before this performance and again before she went on stage because she was needing a fix from the day before. She also got drunk both days.

So there you go. She was singing with depth and emotion.

    lol

  • oh please fuck off Leona - absolute shite.........

  • @ash231266 Fuck you

  • and if I'm being honest, people are all talking about Camille, but seriously? She isn't even half the singer Leona is. There is no comparison there that's for sure. This version was way more dramatic and powerful.

  • @weedy984 sickening comment - Camille has depth and sincerity - Leona is a lovely singer but those who call her an artist are giving her too much credit

  • @beanincork depth and sincerity do not mean anything if you don't have a very good voice. Leona has the voice, Camille doesn't.

  • @weedy984 Woah - you need to see her live, you'll be touched if you do - i promise. She has an amazing voice (backed up by critical reviewers) and depth and sincerity mean everything (they are the people who create original work) which is why Xfactor cover the work of the greats - Leonard Cowen, NIN/Cash, etc and now Damien Rice too

I'd rather not argue with a stranger whom I have no chance of convincing, peace out. X

  • absolutely loved this! love leona. her voice is pure perfection

  • All these people mentioning Camille O'Sullivan is hilarious. She is not even close to the singer that Leona Lewis is. You people have no clue.

And the rest of the people bashing Leona are mostly talent show haters I'm sure. I'm not that big of a fan of talent shows either but Leona Lewis was discovered that way and she's one of the best female pop singers on this planet and maybe in the history of pop music. This girls voice might be better than Whitney Houston's.

  • @adafunk not really......... at all

  • Utter Rubbish - leona is a good singer but this song needs to be felt not merely sung

  • Nine Inch Nails original, not J Cash, oops. The power of familiarity to reshape fact ....

  • Lovely, but surely a flattering 'interpretation' of Camille O'Sullivan's recent rendition of the song - so different to the Cash original. Red dress too? Saw O'Sullivan December 2009 at the Apollo London: should be a household name like X Factor performers!

  • I'm sure this song is about the tourture of being a Heroin addict. Can't wait for the Gareth Gates version of Perfect Drug!

  • CAMILLE O SULLIVAN did it FIRST and she has more emotion than leona's EYEBROW. (no 'fence leonez)

  • I don't understand you guys with those top comments about Leona being unemotional with this song.

Didn't you know that she's not the kind of performer, who incorporates the topics like death and destruction? And if you can't accept that then what are you doing here? Go and listen NIN and Mr. Cash. Isn't that just wonderful to have a choice?

She made an amazing cover, she revealed the beautiful melody of this song, made it powerful and striking, not just painful(as the original).

  • @ShUrkaSl she butchers it! - orrid!

  • @ShUrkaSl You've hit the (nine inch) nail on the head! Leona ISN'T that kind of performer. The reason people are getting so wound up is that Hurt IS that kind of song. She has an amazing voice and yes it's emotional - it's just not the emotion which is in the lyrics. Power ballad superimposed on in-the-gutter rock-bottom no-hope grunge.

  • that was visually beautiful with the mostly black background with b&W graphics or the and spotlight on her in her red gown. toned down to focus on song and her - good decision on x factor's part...

  • Leona's version is spot on; she has the voice and her interpretation in solid. Fantastic. Yes, Camille O'Sullivan's version is spectacular too with her earthy, stripped down simplicity of delivery. Got see you sing that live Camille in Edinburgh 2012 please.

  • Someone's been listening to Camille O'Sullivan!

  • @DipsyFinch Are you suggesting they sound the same? Oh dear...

  • THIS SONG AND THE OTHER TWO FROM HER EP ARE OUT NOT! GET DOWNLOADING FROM ITUNES :-)!!!

  • Oh boy, I have tried giving this a go because I don't want to just write it off as a version. However, when I heard the NIN original it chilled me to my bone with its raw emotion and pain. Johnny Cash made me cry as he poured a life of hurt and regret into the song, still makes me emotional till this day. Leona's version leaves me cold. No heart, no soul, no emotion and absolutely no class. Great voice, can't take that away from her but needs to choose songs she understands to sing.

  • @FrontlineGamerBlog LOL @ class. NIN is classy? Get real!

  • @sciguy0504 Did I say NIN were classy? Nope, I said Leona Lewis had no class, as do her manager and record produces. Whatever I might think about T Reznor, NIN and his musical output he at least put emotion and meaning into this track. I personally think his cover with Karen O of Lead Zeps Immigrant song is awful too. But hey two wrongs do not make a right, just a hell of a lot of wrong.

  • Leona Lewis has said on her Facebook shes released 3 COVERS of her favorite songs that she loves due to her pushing her album back, shes performing her fav song shes not trying to replace or take anyones song away from them, people need to sit back chill and get a grip. Shes amazing.

  • someone put her out of her misery. this is ruining one of the best songs ever written.

  • Garbage. If you're going to do (yet another) cover then go away, read the lyrics, do some research, and try and put some emotion into it

This is typical formulaic X-Factor shit

  • Comment removed

  • What the frig is this?! She's taken a song written about Trent's drug addiction and made it into some teenage girls favorite song, get a grip.

  • Hmm, midi piano! Kills the emotion of that introduction for me...

  • I wasn't a big Leona Lewis fan until last night, for me this was the best performance on last nights show by a million miles, I'm now a big fan.

  • Comment removed

  • just horrible comparing with jhohnny

  • It is such a good song, I love Johnny Cash's version, a dirge sung from the needle point. This version, as stated below, is utter pish! You can sing as much as you like with your eyes closed and a powerful voice (i.e. shouting), but if you ain't lived it then there ain't no soul, and that can be heard in spades. Other examples include, but are not limited to, Whitney Houston and I Will Always Love You, All Saints and Under the Bridge and that Redknapp woman with Stuck in the Middle With You!

  • This is a disgrace. what is she doing singing this?? is no song sacred anymore?

  • Why do people have to judge this by comparing it to other versions. Why not just judge it by what it is and how it sounds. To me shes incredible here i give a thumbs up to this :D

  • Possibly one of the worst things I've ever heard. Pish.

  • 2:40 Eev-aye-could-start-Ah-ge-hen!!so much power and range, best live singer today, sent chills down my spine!

  • Murdered a Reznor classic! Hated it!

  • my first ever dislike on youtube!

  • Leona's done a nice job, less raw emotion than the Johnny Cash, Nine Inch Nails or Camille O'sullivan versions, But Camille O'Sullivan must have been a major influence on Leona's arrangement. Camille's arrangement has basically been lifted and Xfactored. So in short Leona is covering Camille O'Sullivan, who is covering Johnny Cash who was covering Nine Inch Nails. I hope Camille gets a share of the earnings or gets to support Leona's tour, they are both breathtaking performers.

  • Call me narrow minded, but I can't quite imagine Leona Lewis being a Nine Inch Nails fan. Unlike Johnny Cash who made an incredibly powerful, and moving cover, Lewis seems to lack any kind of passion whatsoever. It is almost as if the record label chose it for her. As if they would do that though. And saying it is for charity doesn't wash either, if anything Trent Reznor is one of the few musicians who doesn't do it for the money, hell he GAVE his last NIN albums away....

  • It sounds like that there are some diminished chords in this song.

  • I love Leona Lewis...her voice is beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • MAKE IT STOP. literally I had to turn off the sound. Usually Im not a hater, but this is murder.

  • AMAZING... Such beauty, emotion and power in her voice. What a beautiful song...

  • Keep bleeding, keep, keep, bleeding,my ears keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding.

  • Just coz leona hasnt gone thru drugs or old age doesnt mean she isnt entitled to singing this song in her own way, Thats just being stupid and narrow minded. This is one of her favourites and so she recorded it for charity, did justice to both the song and her own voice in her own way. haters need to be smarter. music is FOR EVERYONE. its Leona prerogative so STAY OUT OF IT,

  • PLEASE LIKE THIS COMMENT TO SUPPORT LEONA,. HER VERSION IS IN A LEAGUE OF HER OWN, LEONA STYLE. AND WE LOVE IT AND ITS FOR CHARITY.

  • I just got this EP. Listen to it many times over. Can’t understand the ongoing grumbles! Even though, I have an album of Cash that I enjoy, I have never been a real fan of his – droning in mono-tone isn’t really singing; his version of “Hurt” exemplifies this point - I hated it with a passion. Oddly enough, I do like him. Leona’s version, I can only describe as brilliant. Finally, someone has added meaning to this song.

  • @crocfly YES!! I knew I couldn't be the only one xD.

  • I could listen to this woman sing all day. I don't care what it is. When she unleashes that powerful and beautiful voice it amazes me almost every time.

  • Haters Can Suck It!!!!!!...Leona Is Awesome And Also The Song:D

  • unless any of you lot hating can blast vocals like leona can.. then i don't think you have a right to judge :) x

  • Check out Nine inch nails or even Johnny Cash

    Much better versions !

  • @PadraigM46 Whilst I think this version is great I always make it my business to watch/listen to the original; and I love NIN's version. Very good. I'm not feeling Johnny's that much, but the video and the way he sings it you can see it has great meaning.

  • @PadraigM46 Not really. No.

  • the most emotionless singer I've ever seen, and someone thought it was a good idea have her sing one of the the most emotional songs ever. Yes she has a voice but that doesnt mean she can sing anything, hurt needs to be sang from the heart and not be bastardisded into a run of the mill ballad by x factor idiots

anyone who buys this thinking its a good song really needs to see the emotion johnny cash brings to it

  • @carpetheadLEGO It's because you assume she was just singing it for the sake of singing it that you think this performance was emotionless. If someone went to Cash's version and just watched it, they could easily say the same. Fortunately, they can research the meaning behind his singing it. Leona's life's not hung out there for all to see so you don't really know the place she puts herself when she's singing it. She's not smiling or strutting around a lot. She looks to be in a dark place here.

  • what are you talking about she is amazing live!!!

  • What a dark song,...haunting and eery and I didn't need to hear all the lyrics...

She did a good job of it.

  • I didn't know Leona would be so poor in her lower range. However, her lower range is probably still better than most singers in the industry!! I just expected more from her because she is usally so amazing- you know!?! but when she is up there with the high notes she is outstanding. You may not like the XF because of it's manufactured process but Leona Lewis is a star and that cannot be denied.

  • And honestly, she's a great singer, and it's a decent cover but THE BIGGEST problem is the meaning: it's like when Amy Whinehouse (god rest her soul) covered Valerie; all the deep, mellow meaning and emotion to the song was lost behind the upbeat pop and catchy rhythm. So it's not a case of 'we hate her cause she did a crap cover' it's more 'you might as well pick "You Know What You Are" to sing'. Trust me, Nine Inch Nails songs are VERY hard to remove from context

  • Well look at it this way; From Nine Inch Nails to Johnny Cash to Leona Lewis; Electro-rock, to Country Soul, to mainstream Pop. It's an interesting evolution really

  • Makes me laugh, because it's Leona Lewis, who is related to X-Factor, she's getting slated. It was an amazing vocal, whether it's a cover or not. No one critisized Jonny Cash did they? No! So because it's someone who is current, and actually has an amazing talent this country doesn't seem to want to embrace. The vocals on this were outstanding. Well done Leona.

  • And just to point out. I'm not here to have a pop at Leona. Her music isn't my kind of thing but I wouldn't deny the fact she can sing well. My beef is that the lyrics of this song just do not suit the kind of music or audience she is usually aimed at. It is a song about drug addiction and there is no way to make that sound innocent. To be frank I was never a huge fan of the Johnny Cash cover either even though he was a great artist in his own right.

  • It's not being closed minded when you are read what the song is about. It's not rocket science.

  • @stayve1 Yeah and like i said before she doesn't have to had gone through what he did, she can relate the lyrics to her life, just like the thousands of people who listen to the song and relate it to their lives

  • @georget364 The song is dark and very personal from Trent Reznor, I like it for it's brutal honesty and for the way it drags you into this dark concept. I sure hope it doesn't relate to my own life. It's art. It's not meant for X Factor.

  • Yes Leona you really look like you've been through the hell of heroin, cocaine and alcohol addiction. You did realise that's what the song is about didn't you? Oh, sorry! Cowell didn't bother to research the lyrics before he heard a melancholy tune again? You're forgiven then.

And more to the point I go to put the NIN version on youtube and I'm greeted by an advert for Olly Murs new song. You couldn't make up such irony.

  • @stayve1 just cause she might not have gone through al that don't mean she can't relate the lyrics to hurt shes had in her life ? Stop being so close minded

  • @stayve1 SONGS ARE NOT MONOLTIHIC, IF YOU BELIEVE THEY ARE THEN IT ISNT ART...ART CAN BE INTERPRETED DIFFERENTLY...GET OVER....IT.

  • @numba1danman I hurt myself today

To see if I still feel

    I focus on the pain

    The only thing that's real

    The needle tears a hole

    The old familiar sting

Try to kill it all away

    But I remember everything

How exactly do you re-interpret that then genius?

  • the original is great because of its meaning etc etc i dont have 2 explain why, jonny cash's version is amazing bcos it makes such a sad and dark song sound so beautiful but at the same time depressing, which i prefer in my own opinion. this version is not as good as the others, however it isnt god awful or shite is it, listen to her amazing voice!!!! who cares if its main stream or any of that nonsense, leona lewis can make any song sound good she's one of the best singers in the world!

  • having watched Camille O Sullivan's Hurt - I'm convinced that leona's version is a poor imitation - a rip off even

  • @beanincork leonas is way different from Camille's. both are good in their own ways but its def not a rip off. If u cant tell the difference u should re watch both videos. Peace

  • @ash62646582 I can tell the difference (and clearly Im not alone here) - the similarities are in the soft start and climbing melodies, the difference is in Leona's lack of depth and emotional engagement. Peace returned

  • I love Cash's version but when I heard this it touched me more than his - for some reason I felt like blubbing near the end, such was the impact it had on me!! My girlfriend was watching it with me, and I thought I'd look a right twat if I started crying - luckily I managed to hold it together. She sings it perfectly and I love the high notes at the end. So powerful, not as emotional in the sense that she doesn't sound old and about to kick the bucket like Johnny but still highly charged.

  • search for Camille O Sullivan - Hurt it is a much better female vocal version, heart felt, subtle and compelling

  • Nice cover by Leona, but if you want the raw emotion of the song from the female perspective check out the amazing Camille O'Sullivan's version (2 or 3 vbersions on YouTube - the German TV from 2010 one is most recommended)

  • Hmmm a song about depression and self harm that somehow comes across as a love song - Im not sure what to make of it

  • shit.... just shit!!!!! oh and by the way, it's not her song!

  • People, per-lease. To whom this may concern, stop convincing yourselves that the music which you 'personally prefer' is REAL music, just by stating that this type of music is manufactured and too 'mainstream' for you. You're either concerned it will become better know as a 'Leona' cover, which it won't - and this is coming from a fan ... Or, you're just so negative you can't see the positive in Leona releasing this song! Just, deal with it. It's just another cover in the music industry. OK!

  • I wonder if she's even heard the original

  • Quite amsuing that she has no idea what the lyrics she's singing mean. And obvisously that she does such a bad job of covering it.

  • She obviously has no relation to this song. This song is about the downfall of being on drugs due to the feeling of losing EVERYTHING in life, which she clearly knows nothing about. Trent Reznor actually hates this song so much, and gave the rights to Johnny Cash. Leona is a lazy cunt and every song she's done for the last few years has been a TERRIBLE cover of an amazing song. Wanna hear someone sing this song with REAL passion liten to Trent or Johnny sing it.

  • @SillyStephers93 i thought art could be interpreted in different ways? she kind of catapulted 'run' to a cult level, it got to #55 with snow patrol in the UK, the next its number 1 with the biggest selling download only song ever in the UK. deny me this, yes its a cover, indeed a cover of a cover..but leona lewis' true art form is in her amazing vocals, and i believe she has released 1 other cover (moment like this was for x factor) she has released around 10 songs so please ..move on.

  • @SillyStephers93 and thats the issue your having o inform people of where to listen to the original? why...cos it may have been critically acclaimed but not popular, does it not cross your mind that leona lewis maybe a massive fan of the song, does it not cross your mind she might want to show the audience a great song, no? why cos she doesnt stand there with a guitar? wud i suprise you t know leona can play the piano and the guitar...more instruments than the so called...'true artists'

  • what gets me is if you hate something why listen? if you hate X factor so much why watch it? so all these people posting comments watched x factor just to criticise? if you like the original fine if you like the cover by cash fine but just don't listen to this then? why come on here spend your energy writing derogatory comments? is that so important in your life? very sad put your energy into something more worthwhile! hay? come on nobody died did they?

  • @mnkylondon Dude, if somebody posted a video of a guy taking a dump on the Mona Lisa, would you turn up and say "Hey, if you don't like it, don't watch it. If you like the Da Vinci version, fine, but nobody is forcing you to watch this person shit on a masterpiece, so why waste your energy on derrogatory comments. Hey, come on, nobody died did they?"

In short, you've missed the point that, for some, the mere existence of this verison is an afront to something special.

  • @AlexH84 ok, but for some this version is special too? it's just a matter of opinion which everyone has the right to? no?

  • I loveee her always have always will

  • Johnny Cash would be spinning in his grave. Trent Reznor would just throw her off the stage at a NIN gig.

Fuck this, listen to the Cash or NIN versions. Not this shite.

  • @pinnyhead HE's throw her off stage like his angry keyboard slam :')

  • You know, if there's one term that really should be made illegal it's the word "haters". It implies that the artist is beyond criticism and that anyone who displays any dislike, legitimate or otherwise, is just a "hater" whose only problem is jeaousy or something equally irrational.

Leona Lewis' version of Hurt was bland and totally uninspired. She turned it from a classic anthem of the desperate into a boring power ballad and if disliking that makes us haters, I wear that badge with pride.

  • @AlexH84 Hater.

  • @grahamjoy10590 And proud!

  • @AlexH84 Beautiful!

  • @grahamjoy10590 You're kidding right??????? Are you deaf????? It's awful!!!!! Nothing else to say on the matter!

  • @TheStamford91 yeah pitch perfect rendition of a well written yet ultimately forgotten song sang by one of the most talented vocalists...YES VOCALISTS something a person with your taste forgets about actually pulled off a rather haunting performance...do you not think she was paying homage, i think when leona covers a track people get intimidated and think she is trying to better it...she just sang a song...wat u so worried about?

  • @TheStamford91 Literally like all 3 versions - Not a pessimist.

  • Are these people serious ?! Spare me the shitty angst you hold over mainstream artists and get the hell over it. She sounds beautiful, and looks beautiful.

  • She's gone through a long road. with her ex boyfriend asking for a whooping amount of money. She is broken and this song reflects her pain. I feel for her and completely understand I love you Leona, as always and I'm here lol. ALWAYSSS

  • I love how she sounds soooooo (too?) quiet at the beginning of her songs, but when she gets going she completely blitzes everyone. Is there anyone else at the moment capable of her 'boom'? Fantastic interpretation!

  • All you jealous haters can fuck yourselves! She's been incredibly successful since the XFactor. From one song that she sang you're hating on her. Her voice is outstanding, give you shivers up your back. Don't like her, get the hell away from this video. Love you Leona <3

  • @ItsHolleh Name one good song she's done since Bleeding Love? In fact, name one song thats NOT a cover & she wrote herself? You will find that the answer is nothing! Leona Lewis is just a product of the Simon Cowell machine who will get every ounce of money out of her then she be thrown on the manufactured scrapheap!

  • @richrams86 Corrr someones abit hateful. Why are you watching this video if you don't like her? And go listen to footprints in the sand or better in time. Which if i may add was a single which raised thousands for CHARITY. Get over yourself

  • @georget364 I'm watching this video because I wanted to hear the cover. Does anyone know what this song is actually about?? Do yourself a favour & listen to Johnny Cash's cover & then come back to me. I just done my research on those 2 songs & yeah, had a quick listen. Yeah, ballads, I should of known. But hey, I have nothing against charity as long as it's done tastefully.

  • @richrams86 I have, and iv got Cash's version on my iPod already, but i love Leona version aswell, in my opinion i think she puts her own twist on it and its quite nice to hear the female vocals on the song. And there not really ballads, they've got a bit of a mid tempo beat to them. What about Collide ? I recommend you go and listen to Lost then Found, or Stone hearts and hand grenades. SHe does have talent

  • @georget364 Since I'm usually open minded to music, I will take a listen but I doubt it will change my mind. I didn't say she didn't have talent, she has got a amazing voice but what gets me, is why on earth does she carry on doing covers? She be better off on a different record label when she may have creative freedom without Simon Cowell & his elfs telling her what to do.

  • @richrams86 Yeahh i did think that but i suppose its just for publicity, and it gaines controversy and gets people talking like were doing here. And on the plus side some people who may be younger ect will get introduced to some of the classics such as NIN

  • @richrams86 Not the point - She could sing all these covered songs but sing terribly, that would get her nowhere. She is where she is because of her TALENT.

  • @ItsHolleh Her TALENT?? Her talent is her voice, that is it. If she is so talented, why on earth has she done a EP of covers? If she's so talented, why does she need thousand of songwriters when her talented self should be able to write one herself. If she's talented, why on earth has her next album been put back til March? Is it because the album is actually not good enough & need to put a few covers on to sell?

  • @richrams86 she release because she felt harsh for telling her fans something wud be out at x mas time, she pusher her release back cos there was many song writers and producers ...like for beyonce, rihanna and many more wanted to write for her, britain wants pop stars yet when one comes along and doesnt write their own music ala elvis, frank sinatra, whitney houston dam shes shit? get a grip moron.

  • @richrams86 Co wrote Happy, it's not a cover. Whatever it takes, Don't Let Me Down, Can't Breathe. Not really fussed whether you meant singles or not ... it's what you wanted.

  • LEONA WAS AMAZING TONIGHT, FUCK ALL YOU HATERS!!!!!!!!

  • personally i love it, and i think she sang it so well, and she looks so beautiful...

  • At first I thought the piano was playing a horribly wrong note before I realised he's interpreting the sound of Johnny Cash groaning.

  • I came here open minded ..... I thought it can't be as bad as people are saying .. It is awful. worse than awful. I suspect the most hurt she has ever experienced is snagging a nail ..

  • @jonjuliecat And this is coming from someone who doesn't know her ? just cause shes successful don't mean she hasn't ever been hurt. You can see the emotion and hear it when shes sings, if its so awful why are you commenting

  • @jonjuliecat Possibly done more for Charity than you've ever done? Only saying possibly, because clearly I don't know you! Snagging a nail is the least of her concerns. Just be nice - it isn't hard.

  • maybes leona has a connection with the song which equally as deep and meaningful as all those who have a connection with cash or nin versions! its just an artists interpretation of an incredible song. Also if anything this will open the door to many new younger fans of the song who will discover the originals.

  • Her and Tulisa must be close, Tulisa was clapping her Leona even started and then shot up as soon as Le was done :)

  • absolutely stunning, if you dont like it stop listening to it. simple. loe the original and cash's caover. just a beautiful song beautifully covered

  • given the fuss over frankie (who i disliked intensely) talking about taking drugs how is a song about self harm and heroin use appropriate for such a young audience? This is weak sauce compared to NIN. no likey, no lightey.

  • Leona you did amazing! Everyone be glad she can sing. At least someone like Katy Perry didn't cover it!

  • @LeonaLewisArmy at least katy perry is a real musician!

  • Brilliant song, completely stripped and ruined. Fuck

  • NIN did this song and it was deep, Cash covered it and it was heart wrenching his cover especially meant something to me because when someone close to me passed away I would play it and the words still carry so much meaning for me to this day. So when I saw Leona sing it tonight like it was some stupid mainstream ballad with no clue as to what it meant, I felt well and truly sick.

  • awful cover of an awesome song, slaughted it, not even the slightist hint of emotion hate it

  • How can people spew such hate at this? This is done in the name of art, look at the layout and her red dress, the single spotlight and the almost silence audience. This is not a poor cover, I do prefer the original, but how can you hate art like this? Is this not an improvement in every sense to the normal heartless mainstream music she creates? Fools.

  • @lolpop9908 Couldn't have said it better myself! People are not giving this a fair go - it's not bad at all.

  • @lolpop9908 ART, FUCKING ART!!! Actually fuck you sideways bro, that's a lame arsed troll if ever I saw one. XD

I can use caps lock because I am BRIAN MOTHER-FUCKING BLESSED. :P

Now scram you horrid little troll.

  • LEONAS EP IS OUT NOW ON ITUNES! FANTASTIC GET BUYING!!!!!

  • "Her new song?" Sorry... what?

A performance lacking more emotion I haven't seen.

my god sits in the back of the limousine

my god comes in a wrapper of cellophane

my god pouts on the cover of the magazine

my god's a shallow little bitch trying to make the scene

  • @stormchaser76 Aahhhh ha ha ha. Excellent reference, Wish I was awake enough to have made that!

    Nice one Sir/Madam!

  • Absolutely amazing version!!!! Love it !

  • I just threw up in my mouth!! Nine Inch Nails should sue you for this Leona!!!!!

And people, don't even compare this cover with the Johny Cash one, the guy's a legend!

  • @joyrula sue her..surely they allowed her too and will make loads of money

  • @joyrula Glad I wasn't the only one who felt sick watching this - yuck!

  • one thing i can't stand is music snobery. fair enough, you like the johnny cash version or the nine inch nails version better, and i actually agree that they have more emotion, but this is NOT a bad cover, infact she sung absolutely beautifully here and blew me away. she made it her own aswell with the ending, so at least she did something different with it and didn't just copy. its a gorgeous song whoever sings it, and she did a great job.

  • What the hell is she doing to a amazing song shes totally killed it

  • My ears are bleeding. This shouldn't be allowed. No, really. The beauty of this song is (was) in it's restraint. As soon as she injects the power notes she absolutely destroys everything it ever meant to anyone who liked the original, or the sublime JC cover. The X-factor did the same thing to a Leonard Cohen great a couple of years ago with the same results. Please don't anyone buy this. Or listen to it twice.

  • Thanks for ruining a perfectly good song !!! No Leona Lewis !!!!

    Crap cover of it !

  • NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Elindor1 yes i know the original was by nine inch nails but johnny cash's version was the one that leona lewis used in this performance and on her new album.

  • @ChelseaG61 Are you sure about that? Cash's version has the line "I wear this crown of thorns," the original has the line "I wear this crown of shit," and her version skips that line and others completely. Why skip the line if you are covering Cash's version?

  • @ChelseaG61 REM done it before Cash so did the corrs,
