I grew up in So Cal in the 80's and I never saw a band that sounded better live and had more impressive lyrics and sound. This music influenced and effected and entire generation of music lovers, but the recordings/albums never really captured the sound and the feeling of LA like their live performances did. I miss this music and those days

Very over-rated band .. such acclaim in California and this is one of their best songs. John Doe should stick to singing others song and acting and Exene should stay at home.
You've heard alot of "junk" from THIS group? Well SPECIFICAL what? How much of this groups music have you even heard? I've heard ALL of their stuff and most of it is excelent.
A lot of people outside of California have votes and it's thumb down. I did say this is a pretty good and interesting tune and one of their best but I've heard so much weak music from X. John Doe may be a better actor than .. Hey don't write me anymore. Peter Paul and Mary on acid.
Pardon me, but this group has many other cool songs besides this one and they have very little weak music. What can I say? They'r good,..and they truely deserve their share of warrented recognition.
This song rocks but .. New world .. burning house . hit and run .. None of those songs seem good. Am I just hitting on the wrong songs? I did hear John do a song by my favorite all time band .. The Replacements. If you don't like the Replacements then we just really differ..
Have'nt you ever heard White Girl, Los Angeles, Hungry Wolf, It's Who You Know, Blue Spark, Real Childe of Hell, Devil Doll, Under the Big Black Sun and I See Red? Try those,...you should be able to finde them posted on here somewhere.
Yeah .. I really like this song. Like Wilco too. I read that you are only allowed to like John Mellencamp in Indiana (ha). For some reason East Coast doesn't play them much ..East Coast is not hip unless you're in NYC. Be well.
maybe i came on a little strong but i don't even care for this song very much, so many of there other songs are so much better, i've seen your playlist and can see you do have some musical tase, i guess the critics and myself must be wrong, i don't see how you missed the boat on this one
Well, probably because most idiots back then were too buisy fixating on and fawning over ohhh Michael Jackson, Madona, Def Lepard, Duran Duran, U2, Bon Jovie et all to give THIS groupe any notice. Question answerd?
X werent the only great groupe of that particular era that got similarly overshadowd. There were others, like Midnight Oil, Lone Justice, Killing Joke, Bauhouse and The Smiths, to name just a few. That is realy the thing about the 80's, it was a decade in wich all the truely great musical acts realy were the less mainstream and obvious ones, who got overshadowd and obscured by the biggie superstar acts of the day.
It's a damn shame though is'nt it, because if groupes like X had been bigger, then the 80's would have a better reputation historicaly and there'd be much better music acts today.
This is actually called "True Love, Part 2" There's another song on the album called "True Love" and it would be great if someone would post thta one, too.
Reminds me of a quote from a Rollins Book - "Exene sometimes looks like a witch, and other times she looks like a tasty little bitch" I think the latter is true here!
Don't fuck with X! Saw concert footage where a fan bumrushed the stage and was neatly intercepted by Jon Dough's fist sending him back into the audience while Jon went back to playing so nonchalant.
I Never seen this video before "Much More Fun In the New World" is a very great album but this song is probably the weakest one on it :(

how can burning house of love not sound good if you like the Replacements?
lenaisapunkrocker 2 years ago
True Love is the best X song imo. Burning House is OK. I have never seen a list where if you love the Replacements you will also like X.

people in indiana like x too, its country and punk

And you have no videos to demonstrate your bad taste. And venisfurs has the worst of Roxy Music.

Roxy Music? Well I like them a bit too, but they'r something totaly dissimilar to X here.

Everyone should check out X from Australia...much superior to this!!
This track is like a half arsed version of Talking Heads!

Definitely not like your typical punk rock band, very cool..
wisesatyr72 2 years ago
X themselves denied that they were "punk" and openly chided the music press who insisted on pasting this label on them.
What great times with X at the forefront of the L.A. underground club scene of the 1980s. Now it's all about velvet ropes and Paris Hilton.

X were the beatles of LA punk -- the best and most influential. Now what did John ever do with that old "shirt?"

To bizzybob57 who'd posed the question;
"Why were'nt they the bigest band of the 80's?!"
Well, probably because most idiots back then were too buisy fixating on and fawning over ohhh Michael Jackson, Madona, Def Lepard, Duran Duran, U2, Bon Jovie et all to give THIS groupe any notice. Question answerd?

wow... obviously you didnt grow up in the LA punk scene... midnight oil.. lol.. ha!
X was apart of somrthing that will never be done again... the germs, screamers, ..hell..stray cats.. lokk at that influence now..
not to single you out.. i was reading.. X had nothing to do with all that english music at the time...
purely LA punk.. if you werent there then you dont know..
i'm still in it.

What a gem! Stil love and admire this band after all these years! Love Exene's country woman singer tribute as she mournfully sings D-I-V-O-R-C-E!

I just remember seeing some "X" vids. in the early 80's, then I remembered seeing John Doe in Roadhouse, I guess he's had quite an acting career too!
