As a registered Class III weapons owner.. I do know the facts.. Its called the "Firearms Owners Protection Act" what it does is many things under the federal signed law Including Protecting Every Automatic Weapon Registered before May 19, 1986.. and by protecting it means those weapons are legal for Civilian Transfer.. But any automatic weapon manufactured and registered after May 19, 1986 is illegal and will be commendered if transfered or in possecion/owned by civilians..

I recently shot both the MP40 and the Tompson. Now granted, my favorite gun in the whole world is the Tommy gun. Shooting both of them in full auto, I would take a Tommy over an MP40 ANY DAY in to battle in WWII. And as said, not only does it pack a better punch, it is much COOLER looking then the SCUM Nazi MP40. And it is TRULY AMERICAN!!!

can someone please tell me this if they know it. I was at a show today and they had a gun stand and one of the guns on display looked alot like the thompson. It had a long magazine on but the barrell was metal instead of wood and it had circular holes at the sides. It also didnt have a wooden stock. The stock was the outline of a thompson but it was like cut out all around it and it was just an outline. the guy told me the name but i forget. Im not a gun expert but can someone please tell me?
hmmm... I thought that .45's had high stopping power but low penetrating power, and that's why it had trouble cutting through small trees and stuff in the pacific jungles, which is why they replaced it's position in patrols with the BAR... but I could be wrong.
And btw, the Russians beat the Germans, and SMG's were not standard issue in any army, rifles were. So the gun that won WWII was the Mosin Nagant, not the Thompson. ^_^
@TheParanormal The mosin nagant was slow and cheap.It cost alot of Russians their lives especially because of that sticky bolt.The ppsh 41 was more effective and was used very effectively in mass infantry charges and urban fighting.They would sometimes equip whole divisions with them.
@WaRLocK2204 Yes, I know that the Negant wasn't very good, especially compared to the Kar98k (which was really really good), I was just pointing out that bolt-action rifles were still the standard at the time... besides, all the guns of WWII were fantastic at what they were made to do - killing.

@jjjjdogify and you can not own a pre 86 auto unless you have a Registered Class III SOT.. you have to get a form from the ATF fill it out have your county sherif sign off on it, because some sherifs dont wanna deal with automatic weapons when they are only given semi auto AR-15s.. You get a federal background check.. in some cases you might have your phone or comp tapped for a lil bit so they know you arent a bank robber or psychologically insance.. 3-12 months later.. if its approved you can

Mac-10 - $5,000 .. AK-47 - $16,000 .. M1A1 Thompson/ Tommy Gun - $17,000 .. Uzi $9,000 ... Etc

I recently shot both the MP40 and the Tompson. Now granted, my favorite gun in the whole world is the Tommy gun. Shooting both of them in full auto, I would take a Tommy over an MP40 ANY DAY in to battle in WWII. And as said, not only does it pack a better punch, it is much COOLER looking then the SCUM Nazi MP40. And it is TRULY AMERICAN!!!

Thompson, an AMERICAN. It was USED by not only the AMERICAN military but by our allies in WWII mainly. Despite its checkered past, it was labeled the most deadliest weapon on the planet in 1929, also refered to as the "Chicago Typewriter". So it is a better weapon than the MP40, in my humble opinion. can someone please tell me this if they know it. I was at a show today and they had a gun stand and one of the guns on display looked alot like the thompson. It had a long magazine on but the barrell was metal instead of wood and it had circular holes at the sides. It also didnt have a wooden stock. The stock was the outline of a thompson but it was like cut out all around it and it was just an outline. the guy told me the name but i forget. Im not a gun expert but can someone please tell me?

I like the thompson for 3 reasons. It won ww2 and mp40 did not. It has a bullet that can punch through body armor mp40 9mm cant. And it is american.

hmmm... I thought that .45's had high stopping power but low penetrating power, and that's why it had trouble cutting through small trees and stuff in the pacific jungles, which is why they replaced it's position in patrols with the BAR... but I could be wrong.
And btw, the Russians beat the Germans, and SMG's were not standard issue in any army, rifles were. So the gun that won WWII was the Mosin Nagant, not the Thompson. ^_^

@TheParanormal The mosin nagant was slow and cheap.It cost alot of Russians their lives especially because of that sticky bolt.The ppsh 41 was more effective and was used very effectively in mass infantry charges and urban fighting.They would sometimes equip whole divisions with them.

@WaRLocK2204 Yes, I know that the Negant wasn't very good, especially compared to the Kar98k (which was really really good), I was just pointing out that bolt-action rifles were still the standard at the time... besides, all the guns of WWII were fantastic at what they were made to do - killing.
