  • I've been working on oDesk full-time since June 2011 and absolutely love the platform. Guaranteed payments for hourly work is one of the biggest benefits of oDesk over other alternatives such as elance and freelancer.

  • i love him

  • odesk is really nice.. i'm part of it now... working online.. :)

  • Great.. nice idea.., all you guys.. are helping those people needing jobs, I think most especially the disable ones..and older people who likes to work and can still do work.. but not in the field regardless to their capacity, you all have bright idea, unique.. keep up the good work, more power to be in service to people..

  • say hello to odesk little brother -- jobsfor10 com, it's not the same, fix services and vvvery easy signup

  • No need to eliminate anyone :)

IMHO oDesk freelance market niches are filled with jobs appropriately,

so any freelancer can find his specific project. This is just a questions of time.

  • I dont understand how odesk makes money

  • I applied for a position but was not selected. Today I was notified that my application to this particular job was declined because I ignored instructions in the job posting. Problem: there were no further instructions posted. I wish there was someone I could reach out to to resolve this issue. I would like to apply for more positions, but leary at this point, because I may encounter this problem again. I welcome someone to help me with this issue please!

  • @scarlynn123

Job applications are managed by buyers but not oDesk. So buyer decides are you eligible or not.

oDesk may intrude into this process only if there is some valuation from your or buyer side.

Anyway if you have any questions you always can go to Help / Contact Support / Live Chat and ask.

Usually you get an answer immidiately. But if the problem is complex you will recieve an answer as a ticket in one-two business days.

  • actually odesk now has many cheap employers , we cant continue like this and allow very low rates like $3/h !!!

I hope odesk do something in between with quality and low cost not cheap or almost free work.

  • @jmnj64

Imagine yourself as a software company that provides serious financial or telecommunication solutions.

Your company has a huge base of source code that costs some huge amount of money.

Would you hire some a guy with 3$/h to extend your development and manage your code?

And now imagine you own a number of low budget web sites.

All you need is to keep your CMS and site content working well.

Would you hire web programmer for 25$/h? may be for only 3-4h to fix an old problem...

  • @3dtemptube

Thanks for replay but I did not met many of the employers welling to pay $25/h, medium companies that seek to make a commercial software hire $8~$10/h !!! they get work + experience + source + ownership of what I did and I get $10/h !!!!!!

for people that have many sites to maintain should pay $10~$15 but no they pay 1~3 !!!

I got invitation from some companies to do tests in many programming languages and technology for $1 (should I say horaayyy ?)

  • @3dtemptube

70% of employers not only in odesk but in all freelance sites I tried are look for top rated rocket science programmer and wiling to pay him $5/h - those must be eliminated and encourage the big firms you mentioned , I really like to see alot of them not 3 or 5

  • My word, his hands are HUGE!

  • Thank you mr garrey !!

    i understand a lot of things !!

  • I feel the USA needs to make laws to keep jobs in America and penalize these companys that outsource but yet keep thier product in America without America thier companys would surely not make it. A company like Odesk is purely made for outsourcing for cheap labor. So they should have to make jobs for Americans if not banned from doing business in America.

  • @zentetsu32

4000$ is a bad salary for Americans?

If not, then what are you taking about?

  • for best reviews of best freelancing sites visit

    outsrcguru.110mb.com

  • ODESK= NO ilegals in the USA and decrease of unemployment in 3rd. world countries... so go there and hire me

  • oDesk is a marketplace for both types of contractors: from 1st world countries and for 3rd world countries. Before writing comments just try to check the oDesk from inside first.

There are job positions that are certainly for USA or Europen contractors, because they require professional experiences and features that cannot be found among Indian, Chineese or Phillipine contractors. Other side many of jobs are very low budget and are waiting for lots of 3rd world contractors..

  • @3dtemp , Yeah, Americans can only do the superior design work because we all know Chinese and Indian genes are to fucking stupid to understand the tech saviness needed to do good work!

    --

    You are so right 3dtemp!

  • @leonidas512, TA

You know, as more I study 3rd countries markets, as more I see developers who work for 20-25$ per hour: c#, c++, java, php, js, jquery and so on...

If to work full time this is 3000-4000$ per month!

Is it so bad for USA developers? I don't think so...

So may be it's time try to work new way?

...and feel the real development spirit. :)

  • @3dtemp In America you can make $35000 t0 $50000 starting, however other countries are taking many of the jobs and doing these at a fraction of the price of what we can do them for. Basically it's not equal opportunity, it's lets find someone who doesn't need benefits, work for cheap, and long hours. I guess it's the American way for CEO's to sell out.

  • In some developped european countries this will be forbidden as this is ind of surveillance.

  • odesk is excellent, i have made some really good money from using it. i have a free guide on how to make big money using odesk and im giving it away absolutely free. get it from my video channel

  • I want to have that Tshirt, looks cool, :)

  • How does a provider in the United States who requires say $2500.00/month to survive compete with someone from India or China who requires much less?

  • @brennanhm its difficult to say exactly. From my experience labor over the internet is just as good as regular labor, in fact, its cheaper and easier to outsource than to hire domestic. When you outsource you don't need to worry about getting sued, following labor regulations and the myriad of other labor law. The USA is rather anti-employer from what I've seen. The ONLY way the USA worker will be able to compete is by providing more value compared to foreigner. Good luck with that.

  • @brennanhm , why does the American need 2500 a month to survive?

  • @brennanhm , Why does an American need 2500 to survive, is the air he breathe different? IS the water he drinks different? Is the food he eats different?

  • @leonidas512

Very diffrent it cost more to live in America. To live well in America you need to make atleast $5000 or more a month. But we cant do that when companys like Odesk give Ameican owned company oppertunity to outsource that job for cheaper labor in another country!!! So we need laws to stop companys like Odesk and make them to supply more American jobs if they want to do business here.. Im tired of America supporting other countrys!

  • @zentetsu32

"Im tired of America supporting other countrys" - 100% american point of view!

Have you ever thought that America feels so good at the expense of economics of other countries?

If no, take a break and think of it a bit...

  • @3dtemp I dont understand with your question "Have you ever thought that America feels so good at the expense of economics of other countries?" Could you elaborate that please.

  • I think, this is an uncritical promotion video. I would let this kind of video to the marketing department of an enterprise. I think, a critical acclaim would be much more appropriate (assumed, that the interviewer was not paid for this interview).

  • @snearch366 I am not paid for any of my interviews unless they are with Rackspace employees (I am a Rackspace employee).

  • @Scobleizer Thanks for the clarification, nonetheless, if this kind of (more or less conscious) propaganda will be the future of independant journalism, everyone has a good reason to be scared. It's even more horrible than socialist state propaganda, (everybody knew that they were mostly lying/concealing the truth).

  • This completely blows my mind.

  • Changing How the World Works...

  • Its worthwile to watch the entire video. Definitely something I want to look at. @claudeoggier

  • I posted 2 jobs on oDesk. First guy was from Vietnam, and then a girl from India. It was pretty cool then, but letting an unknown number of "team members" going through my source code felt uncomfortable.

  • Stick around for the demo at the end of the video.
