  • Just the 'El Duende' I am looking for.

Janedoe798 is still very much alive after all !

  • It is the very best verssion she recorded. Thanks janedoe798 for that music on video.

On the same 45rpm record, the other side wasd "Love me or leave me".

(Since then, she never leave me.)

  • beautiful Song....^^

  • messze a legjobb változat !!! the best of!!!!!!!!!

  • A medley is a number of songs grouped together and played at once. So a Porgy and Bess medley would possibly consist of "I loves you Porgy", "Summertime" and "Bess You is my Woman Now" and maybe something else, all played together, one after the other.

  • I love both Nina's and Miles Davis's versions....it makes me weep and go to sleep with a tear ^^

  • @Mercurye505 She does another version about an octave lower that is simply incredible. I have it on vinyl, but have yet to find it here. If anyone knows where to find it, can you provide a link?

  • Her best in my opinion. I still feel this song after all these years.

  • Ya!

  • this is my favorite but i also have a rare cd of streisand when she was about 21 years old doing a porgy and bess medley in her show and that is a close 2nd. in my opinion. for some reason i feel that when christina is about 39-40 years old she will do a truly breathtaking version of this song-i think she will feel it more or something-but she still can sing the hell out of anything.

  • utmost preciousness. almost so tragically beautiful. puts this 20 year old boy to tears reminiscing on lost love . .

  • @4NrAGS the power of a truly great musici like Nina's

  • I'm 27, I fell completely in love with George Gershwin when I was 12.

Im from Mexico. For me Gershwin is a genius: beautiful, simple, elegant, warm. And at the same time so intense that I can feel my heart trembling inside my chest, is love, I love him so much.

  • I like this version, but I also like Billie Holiday's version, recorded during the 1930's. both women show the different stylistic tendencies of their respective eras, and both are amazing singers. (I'm not sure about Christina Aguilera's version, since it seems a bit overly stylized, and the point of this song was to add pure emotion to the song, not to add any frills. However, i am also just not drawn to her type of singing. it's a bit too poppy.)

  • Christina's and Nina's are my favorite :)

  • is porgey her man she's beging him to save her

  • i love this woman.

  • Scarlett, I need you more than my next breath.

  • Wow, what an amazing song.

Although her vice is good, it's not what makes me love it, I think it's rather the way her voice fits the lyrics and the emotions so well. It caused me to have goosebumps. Incredible.

  • I din't know this song until christina Aguilera song it, and I like it, both, with nina and Christina!

  • where i can download it ????

  • Simply breathtaking...I had not heard this song until Christina sung it on the 2008 Grammy nominations show. I have listened to a few other versions and of course NINA's is THE BEST..the I will say Christina. She made it her own, but still kept it felt like Nina's version. I was proud that Christina didnt put to many rifs in it. Simply beautiful...

  • Nina Simone was just wonderful. Not only was she a wonderfully soulful and interpretive singer, but her piano playing was amazing. The lady was a genius.

  • I dunt think I understand what this song i about....? Maybe I'm stupid or sumthing.........?

  • Actually, this was a contemporary opera (mostly black) back in the 30s by George Gershwin. Bess was singing about "Crown", a very bad black man and murderer who sort of "owned" her. She fell in love with Porgy, a paraplegic who rode around on a platform with wheels, pushed by his hands on the ground. The movie was made in 1959 with none other than Sidney Poitier as Porgy and an all-star cast. Other songs from this show are Summertime and I Got Plenty of Nothin'.

  • Beautiful song and singer!

  • absolutely amazing, so moving and emotional, nice pictures, made me cry..
