Love it so far Luclin, one suggestion: make the whole cliff AND field part of the base. For example, have a a sunken-in pool of water with it's bottom-most floor opens up to a armory that connects to your already built structure. And go check out oliverissocool1 , he has awesome piston and redstone tutorials.

You went for the most complex way, you should have just done it with 2 levers.

@SwordedWings actually a t-flip flop is alot easier then not even though with 2 levers you can make it pretty simple they are both inputs and you want both to be able to take control and both can override the other (t-flip flop for example)

you should abuse the piston's ability to block liquid (lava&water) and make it so that when you flip a switch (or use the T-flip-flop) the pistons unblock the lava and spills over the walls of your fortress and light up the entire area. (Might be useful when Notch includes the monster siege gamemode.

I think you should have an area right above that that opens up so you can hit zombie's with arrows from above. Something I'm thinking about doing, have pressure plates all over the ground. Make it to where if you step on it a tree opens up and has an arrow launcher(idk what it's called) and skew zombie's while you're working on you're place.
