I'm guessing that when people thought that DMC4 came out that it may be the last, or at least a good five years or more before a new one would come out. So an excellent group of musicians came together to create DMC5 as an album.

And then the trailer for DMC5 came out and changed things.

Maybe there was news that dmc4 WAS going to be the last... at least for that story line. This one, if it wasn't going to be a major continuity change, could explain what happened to Dante & Vergil's mom......

Its a reboot of the series supposedly showing how Dante came to learn of hs powers. I say we give it a chance, even though I don't think Dante posesses the will power to stop smoking and think he always knew of his powers.
