was homeless on the streets of SF and Sacramento myself. Drug addiction. But by God's grace, my parents, and the law, I finally decided I'd do anything to change. It's been a little over 2 years, clean and sober, living one day at a time, sometimes one moment at a time, and doing it God's way through NA.
I lived for a few years as a Homeless person in San Diego. It was an eye-opening experience for me. After the deaths of 4 of my siblings in rapid succession , gave up on life. There are some who suffer mental illness and misplaced people on hard times. But for the majority it is a life style choice. Able bodied people not willing to be responsible with a sense of entitlement,like they are owed,expecting others to provide for their needs, like food,. Liars, thieves, con -artist, lazy, scum.
Man, fuck those homeless bums in skid row. all you people are watching this behind a computer but i'd like to see how you'd react when you have to walk down this filthy street everyday back from school. nothing but a bunch of crack heads down there.

Why is faith a good thing to have? Faith convinces people to ignore reason and scientific fact and believe in stories that have absolutely no proof.
I believe in science, reason, logic, and treating people how I would like to be treated. You won't find a person like me smashing a jet into a building, or beheading someone because I don't agree with their beliefs. To do something that sinister . . . you need religion. And yes, I do consider myself an atheist.
@DR000 faith is good for the soul( and i mean that in the most general way, any faith )... let me explain in an easy analogy... believing in religion is like Being a kid and your parents force you to eat your vegetables but you don't want to, but your parents promise you desert after. Therefore, you have something to look foward to after eating your vegetables thus heighting your overall experince of dinner versus being forced to eat your vegetables with no dessert to look foward to after.
Okay, I understand your analogy, but I would think that cheapens your vegetables if you are promised something "better" after. You'd hastly eat your vegetables without enjoying it. Atheism makes life more meaningful because it's the ONLY life you'll have. It means wasting time is a terrible thing, so you should actually do the most you can.
Also, I know a person who is less fortunate won't get rewarded in heaven - it gives me a reason to actually help them.

You should go out to Phoenix Arizona Madison and 11th Ave they call the area the zone the homeless population there is amazing so many churches are pulling together to help them I respect what your doing
Most cities are generally nice, but have sketchy areas. LA seems to be the other way around: generally sketchy, but has nice areas. Skid Row seems to be about as bad as it gets...The nadir of LA.

Some people have so much and others so little. My friend Jesse is currently homeless and as winter approaches I worry greatly about him! He is poor as can be. It doesn't hit home until you see your best friend on the streets. This is his channel and I am trying to rally support for him to let him know that there are people out there who do care about him. I just don't know what to do to help him. I ve been documenting his struggles in videos to open the eyes of the world.

I served in this area as a freshman in college. The people on Skid Row need not just food and shelter, but true hope that can give them a sense of purpose and meaning in their lives. We need more people not afraid to get their hands dirty to help these people, who truly desire to see these people have a second chance in life. Kudos to your production team, and your efforts to serve this area!

i came back recently from the usa after travelling for 2 months i was shocked at the amount of homeless people. people with phds and highly educated on the streets. unreal in this day and age. a person gets kicked out of there home because they lose there job. and the welfare over there has so many strings attached to even recive it. seems 100s of thousands of americans are just one pay chq from the streets. i dunno how the goverment lets this happen shurely they could do more to help.

I think that the particular group they profile here is a ministry, and that is their focus. If our society had the political will to commit public funds to preventing and healing poverty, less of it would fall to the churches. The more we abandon poverty policies and other social programs, the more we are going to hear every problem defined as a lack of God. It is good that someone is doing something about it, so I don't put down the churches.

Beyond sandwich making, this covers many aspects you'd never have known because of fear.
Sure sandwiches wont solve these problems, but they certainly initiate hope for people struggling.

we actually now live in Los Angeles and we help the people daily on the streets of Skid Row. just the a few weeks ago i took a young man to get his birth certificate, and then his id. Feeding is just one small way to help these people. This video is almost 2 years old.

One of the most prevelent diseases is antibiotic resistant staph and it can be airborne. I myself contracted it through an invasive operation in a hospital and let me tell you it is a bitch to get rid of. Paramedics and law enforcemant often wear gloves and masks when responding to calls in Skid Row LA.

Talking about god has no place unless they bring it up. I am all about religion but thats one of those touchy subjects in that type of place. As i am sure it was for the jews of WW2. Why is faith a good thing to have? Faith convinces people to ignore reason and scientific fact and believe in stories that have absolutely no proof.
I believe in science, reason, logic, and treating people how I would like to be treated. You won't find a person like me smashing a jet into a building, or beheading someone because I don't agree with their beliefs. To do something that sinister . . . you need religion. Therefore, you have something to look foward to after eating your vegetables thus heighting your overall experince of dinner versus being forced to eat your vegetables with no dessert to look foward to after.

Some people have so much and others so little. My friend Jesse is currently homeless and as winter approaches I worry greatly about him! He is poor as can be. It doesn't hit home until you see your best friend on the streets. This is his channel and I am trying to rally support for him to let him know that there are people out there who do care about him. I served in this area as a freshman in college. The people on Skid Row need not just food and shelter, but true hope that can give them a sense of purpose and meaning in their lives. We need more people not afraid to get their hands dirty to help these people, who truly desire to see these people have a second chance in life. i came back recently from the usa after travelling for 2 months i was shocked at the amount of homeless people. people with phds and highly educated on the streets. unreal in this day and age. a person gets kicked out of there home because they lose there job. and the welfare over there has so many strings attached to even recive it. seems 100s of thousands of americans are just one pay chq from the streets. i dunno how the goverment lets this happen shurely they could do more to help.

I think that the particular group they profile here is a ministry, and that is their focus. If our society had the political will to commit public funds to preventing and healing poverty, less of it would fall to the churches. The more we abandon poverty policies and other social programs, the more we are going to hear every problem defined as a lack of God. It is good that someone is doing something about it, so I don't put down the churches.

we actually now live in Los Angeles and we help the people daily on the streets of Skid Row. just the a few weeks ago i took a young man to get his birth certificate, and then his id. Feeding is just one small way to help these people. This video is almost 2 years old.

Yeah this kinda seems like MTV The Real World: Skid Row, but these young guys were prettty brave to go down there. One of the most prevelent diseases is antibiotic resistant staph and it can be airborne. I myself contracted it through an invasive operation in a hospital and let me tell you it is a bitch to get rid of. Paramedics and law enforcemant often wear gloves and masks when responding to calls in Skid Row LA.
