i realizeits probaly in the video(i dont have time to write notes right now) but how (can?) do you make a rotating sort of watch... for example my front entrance... i can station guys there full time but they stay there and starve and dehydrate themselves... how do i get them to switch with another squad every so often? so squad b watches for x ammount of days then squad A watches for X ammount of days while squad B is resting
@aguywitha Go use the DF wiki or the DF forums if you can't be bothered to spend fifteen minutes watching a video. Of course, you'll certainly spend well over an hour trying to learn the basics on your own, and all of that without Captain Duck's awesome accent!
Hey, captnduck is doing so much to relieve the awful learning curve on this complicated game. Nobody said it would be easy to learn this stuff (hell, everyone says it's damn obtuse), but the least you can do is watch his videos, learn, and appreciate all the help he's offering all of us noobs.
Is there any way to set dwarves to train a specific skill? Like just a whole squad training mace?
I had my whole 5 man equipped with battle axes but they never actually PRACTICED with the weapon. All they did was either watch a "dodging/striking/shield using" demonstration some other dwarf was doing aannd... wrestle...
Which is particularly weird since only one dwarf in that squad had a wrestle skill and it was on novice level :P (3 of them had preffiecent axe). I don't know what was wrong...

@captnduck I heard you can set the burrow as a "cube", you press enter once where you want it to start, then you go down a few Z levels and press enter again and it will save a lot of work. Hope I was clear...
Great video, just one thing though... the swords in the traps were not high quality obsidian but crap quality wood. Or is that a bug with descriptions in 31?

Indiv EQ and Squad EQ let's them store their civilian and military clothing in the barracks.
in the schedule screen you can tell them to stay uniformed or wear civilian stuff if not on duty.

@TheLeekiwi I think i covered that in one of the old vids on defends. I used a restraint, which uses a rope or a chain.

Regarding restricting your civilians to inside:
You can switch to panic mode and select restrict civilians to burrow for that alert alone.
That way if you go to panic mode your civilians are automatically restriced to the burrows you selected.
