I remember the dot. We used to watch the dot until it disappeared. Sad or what! Well the transmissions weren't on for that long and we had to get our moneys worth out of the licence fee.
This is the first Bush television set that does not have a round face tube. The RF chassis has stacks of gain so I will be using this set to watch pictures from the new station at Alexandra Palace, when it opens up(45 Mc/s). I might find a new tube at some point as the digital camera is very flattering to it !!
Of course, I should have mentioned the excellent Aurora convertor from Darryl in America. They cost about 100GBP and take 625 input that I feed from a freeview box(output on any channel in BI or BIII). When the convertor detects no signal it switches over to test card C (built into memory).
I'd always be worried of getting radiation off them old TV's. Cats used to get tumours because they would sleep under their stands.

My TV is practically new compared to this one/
BTW, my main TV was manufactured in 1959.

besides its his tv he can do as he wishes. Anyway the manufacturer wont put features on a product that can damage it.
