  • is is that thermal paste too? I'm going to reapply thermal paste on my ps3

  • @Johnmunn01 also is it worth doing this? or just the top of the heat plate?

  • microsoft solves everything from computing to gaming to fixing ps3's

  • @MINIdalylfc Wana shut up? Nobody wants to hear it.

  • @iTzxPRoDiiGYx wanna hang yourself? fuck off

  • @MINIdalylfc Not really. & your pathetic .

  • @iTzxPRoDiiGYx your an ugly child with rabes

  • flick it far enough lol ?

  • i like the music.

  • wats the point of doing that

  • 0:14 "Microsoft" LOL Microsoft quit violatin sony, btw i like your lightsaber lol

  • I might have to do this. Doing a reflow doesnt work anymore

  • it feels like I just watched someone get murdered

  • you dare touch a SONY console with a Microsoft WTF is that

  • They use thick non conductive thermal compound... Shitty at best.

  • are you polish?

  • Everybody saying "omg don't do this you can brick the ps3"....all of you saying that are complete idiots, you have to be CAREFUL...yes but you MUST do this after the ps3 is out of warranty to change the thermal paste/adhesive you you WILL get a ylod eventually, I recommend everybody that knows how to replace the compound under the chips, I did on my cechao1 that was having issues and they went away....works great now.

  • @Blackinterceptor999 You don't need to to this tho.. You can fix YLOD with a variety of different methods, depending on which one is your problem. Either way I only think there's only 2 possible situations for the ylod. In the heat one, you can just clean and reapply the compound paste on top of both the plates. Works fine

  • @Blackinterceptor999

.can you help me i bought a used ps3 80gig original model had ylod fixed it with reflow but now then i put the rsx heat spreader back on the heatspreader moves on the chip from corner to corner as if it is not flush and it is causing a corner of the GPU die to loose/have no thermal paste which if i am correct can cause the fan to ramp up high amiright? how can i fix this thx.

  • @Mooseguy15 heat spreader can slide around if you don't use thermal adhesive I used thermal paste, it works just fine but you have to be extra careful it stays put while you put it back together, double check and make sure you got full coverage of the compound on the chips, if your having issues with that then you can check the heat spreader for warping with a straight edge if it is warped you can look into lapping it to solve the issue.

  • @Blackinterceptor999 see thats the problem i will probabl just get a new board already maybe an original 60 how do i lap thanks?

  • @Blackinterceptor999 let me rephrase that there is not alot of heat my bad and the rsx really is not even warm air cause the fan is going crazy when it is already cool but the cell gets hot then fan goes up to like 4th speed then the air coming out seems warm which leads me to believe that the paste under is shot and not tranferring alot of heat so when the HS cools down the chip is still really hot therefore telling the fan to speed up amiright?

  • That actually works, until you try it yourself, and realize that you own...the rest isn't that important.

  • Kind of ironic that he's using something with Microsoft on it.

  • @SionWeeks i was say exactly that

  • rofl, thumbs up if you like the ms point voucher paper xD

  • It is necessary, because. during reflow thermal grease is damaged on the RSX processor. The PS3 will reward one with a loud fan after a few minutes.

  • What is the point of doing this???? You just fuck up your PS3.

  • Why did he remove this!?!?!?....obviously someone who doesnt know what theyre doing! I hope u get a new ps3 for xmas!

  • just a xbox faggot...

  • jesus h christ.... worst music EVER.

    INSTANT thumbs down

  • p que remove o negocio

  • and then what next??

  • @do0s0n , Dude i taught my 8 year old son how to fix computers and gaming consoles. A freaking monkey could do it. I make a living building and maintaining Networks, thats where the moneys at.

  • @do0s0n you're the one whos dumb..... YLOD stands for a general internal failure of ANY component of the PS3, just like the XBOX red ring.

Mosy YLODs usually mean ONE or BOTH of the processors has had one or more solder points crack and not making a good connection or not making a connection at all.

It can also mean a failed Power supply.

  • I actually mean I have no heatspreader covering on the rsx. All I have is the fan Assembly heatsink touching the chip. I have the 60gb model. I wouldnt advise you trying it on the 40gb cause that mode is built horribly.

  • Actually I had my reballed and the dude who did must of done this. When my ps3 died 6 months later without me playing it (the fan was loud while it was working). I decided to fix it myself. This might sound weird but after I fixed it with good thermal paste spreading and proper cleaning and put back together. My PS3 is now quiet and has been running strong for 6 months plus. It seems unstoppable.......so those of you who are scared. This is perfectly safe.

  • @do0s0n you're the dumb one. show me where it says that and i'll give you a cookie

  • IT'S A TRAP

  • working?

  • Microsoft will kill it you noob !!!!!

  • omg its a microsoft person 0.0

  • omg beginner

  • Check out the new PS3 FLM heat sink mod. Easy installation. from Ebay.

PS3 FLM HEATSINK modification kit. Laser cut Aluminum plates

A two part heat sink that fits over the RSX and CELL chips.

  • @farlytes01

    Thanks for the infos!

  • THIS IS FOR CHANGING THE THERMAL ADHESIVE UNDER THE HS FUCKTARDS!

  • @Doganderboss you dont have to unless your changing the whole rsx chip aswell!!!

  • @ccovnottz there is Thermal adhesive UNDER the Heatspreader, between RSX and Heatspreader..if your ps3 gets louder and louder and you changed the thermal adhesive between Cooler and Heatspreader you have to change the thermal adhesive between rsx and heatsreader...

  • @Doganderboss its more like glue that holds the plate on to the chip it has a very small affect on cooling!! its the paste, plate and fan that do the cooling!!! as i said before you only need to take the heat plate off if your changing the rsx chip!!

  • @ccovnottz nooo there is no glue under RSX...its only Silcone that holds the Heatspreader in place.... the rest is Thermal Adhesive... take a look at 0:39

  • @Doganderboss i didnt say it is glue! i said its like a glue substance and it only has a small affect on the cooling! i only commented on this as you dont need to take the plate off!! plus because people will do this and then put normal thermal paste under the plate!! which is not what you do!!!! lol ive fixed about 40 ps3's and never had to take the heat plate off!! cheers

  • @ccovnottz good sir... i know what im talking about :P

Its Thermal Paste under the heatspreader... and if you replace it, the ps3 will be quiet as hell.

  • @ccovnottz I I reflowed my ps3 about 6 months ago and applied arctic silver 5. The fan got louder the last month or so and now my ps3 cannot go 10 min without displaying a message that says its overheating and turns off. The fan runs fine but it still overheats. I tried reapplying thermal paste but it didn't help. Any ideas?

  • @BruteStrength11 it will need reflowing again! make sure you use no clean flux( if you didnt allready) cheers ps thats a sign off the ylod coming back

  • @Doganderboss when you get the chip reballed they dont seperate the plate from the chip!! anyway so its pointless in seperating them!!

  • what a retard. video should be retitled. "how to FEck up ur ps3"

  • Ok new egg has thermal adhesive compound by artic silver called artic alumina. Make sure it says adhesive. I advise ceramic. The flux can be baught on ebay and will need the liquid no clean flux. Remember only the 4 corners of the ram chips use the adhesive compound and the middle gpu can use regular stuff. Hope this helps

  • you can remove the heat spreader/plate but i advise you use adhesive thermal compound instead of normal stuff. and if you are reflowing i recommed using normal FLUX and not that crappy clean flux. and before you take off the heat spreader reflow the back of the BGA's first then take off the heat spreader's, clean off the compound res apply fux and reflow. then apply the adhesive compound.

however a case mod would be needed for this to last. extra fan, breather holes in the case.

  • @themok5 Thank you for your input. I have taken apart a ps3 to reflow it, but since previous therm compound was so sticky, Arctic Silver 5, it has ripped the heat spreader off the rsx. I noticed that nerds at Bestbuy, who did not reflow it properly prior to my attempt, have tampered with the heat spreader as well. I cleaned the adhesive pink stuff that was glue-ing it to the ramchips and now I have no idea where to buy this - and my customer is inpatient grrr, cal you please advise???, Alen

  • microsoft wants destroy ps3 to profit with it [LOL]

  • whats the song name?

  • IDIOTS, This video is Good for Changing the Thermal Paste under the Plate, retards.

  • @Doganderboss well, duhh lol, don't call me a retard, as you said everyone. My problem is, how do you glue it back on ? what do you use?

  • @indigoal3n hmm,,you need Thermal adhesive ;)

  • I've got the ylod and dont want my ps3 anymore BUT i want the cpu's they looks powerful :)

  • @rapidsuperclown You cant use those anywhere else, especially the CPU, the Cell

  • It is easier to re-flow without the heatsink, but this a terrible way to remove it!!

  • It is easier to re-flow without the heatsink, but this is a terrible way to remove it!!

  • DO NOT REMOVE THIS HEATSINK PLATE!!!! YOU DONT NEED TO DO THIS TO REFLOW IT!!!!!

  • @ccovnottz

no but it a good idea to but some new paste there again.

sorry for my bad english (im danish =P )

  • @ccovnottz Exactly! I reflow them all the time without removing the Heat Spreader. Why would you even want to remove it?!

  • IF YOU HAVE A NOISY PS3

YOU CAN REPASTE THE BLUE DIE , THIS HELPS , FIXED LOADS OF NOISY PS3S THIS WAY

  • @GGCNIXON can you confirm that using an ultra quality thermal paste will not matter unless you take the heat spreader off to re-paste the blue die?

  • Спасибо. сам бы и не догадался.

  • Thats not the chip he removed. its the heat sink kinda... but that is a terrible way to remove something and why would you want to remove that?

  • Um.............. i'm sorry if i sound like an idiot but........... was this a joke or can you really take off the RSX without damaging it this way?

  • song name?

  • @shadowkilla136 watch?v=HiYquvDxaZc

  • NICE 1 :D

  • Never do that, You can permanently damage RSX

  • @klocart Yup , The Only Way To Kill Your PS3

  • Does this make it easier to desolder the chips for reballing?

  • @dropfry Try it :'D

  • What you do after you take it off?

  • its not all thermal paste, its thermal epoxy.

  • that looks like way too much thermal paste!

  • Think this works?

  • I use a large flat head screwdriver with insulation tape on the head there's no flex works better.

  • @ZellZellda thnaks for teliing me
