It seems like so many people can't understand what the Scots in this are saying. I'm Canadian but i can understand everyone perfectly as if they have no accent at all... which is weird since i don't actually know anyone with an accent. However I am Irish/Scottish so maybe it has something to do with that. Maybe my heritage magically allows me to understand what they're saying. Like the TARDIS.... lol. xD
The only down side to this interesting stuff, is that growing up in America, we never learned anything about British history, in our history classes, so some of this is just going completely over my head.
@TheMrLannes Maybe you went to a larger school than I did, but in the rural community here, history class is reserved strictly for American history only. There's one high school class that delves into history in Europe, but even then they don't learn anything about Scotland.
There are soo many variations on accents. I had to serve a customer here in Australia who was a tourist from Scotland, and he had a really low, gutteral, rumbling Scottish accent, to the point that I could not understand half of what he was saying. I ended up in tears of hilarity and embarrassment, red as a tomato, while this Scottish guy is standing in front of me, flapping and trying to mime what he wants at me. He wanted turkey mince, but it sounded like trrggghhheeehh mahhhhuunshhhhhh...
@123mmm101 It's a phrase used to praise someone. Here in Ireland we might say "good man yourself". It's very similar. I hope that makes sense to you?!
Oh gosh help me out... the guy who comes in at about 6:10... is he speaking with an irish accent ? I mean is THAT the irish accent ? Gosh I can barely understand a thing... :)
@Fragolina1410 That's a Glasgow Scottish accent, the same as Davids except thicker. There are a lot of Scots in Ireland (especially in the north) and vice versa. Keep in mind the cultural/social cross over between the two countries, at closest land mass they are less than 12 miles apart..
@Leodhas77 I know I didn't question it, but this was helpful to me...You know Karen Gillan, one of the doctor's new companions on doctor who? I heard her accent and I thought she was Irish. But then I heard she was Scottish and I was pretty confused. But I guess it does make sense in the long run with both countries being so close and all. But thanks for clarifying that! I'm from America, by the way. :3
His accent is beautiful ^_^ And so is everybody else he had been talking to. I want to fly over and visit one of these days....

I wish I had a team of historians to show me around and help me find information about my family. My great-great-grandpa was in WWI.

@rattlingwalls I went to a small, rural high school and I learned about much of this. Not so much the stuff about 4.0, but as far as WWI, yup.
