even the most seasoned rider can fall off a horse and it looks like his foot was caught in the stirrup. Horses are "fleeting" animals and they run when they are scared, notice the horse turns around and you can see him still running past the men on the ground, going the opposite direction. The horse was freaked out by the man who was dragging along the side of him. anne C.
Ah, those horses are not running 25mph. They dont have enough runway to get up to that speed.More like 10mph. That doesn't make the injuries any less severed, though.
I've just taken a Squire position at the Kentucky Renaissance Faire and this video has certainly raised my eyebrows. Much respect indeed to the brave squires and knights!
Wow this was good and shows how dangerous it was. Normally these shows are all planned out so there is no danger whatsoever and the lances are partially sawn through so the weight of a mouse would break them. That guy looked in a bad way after he got up.
First: 1200 is an under-statement, more likely to be 1500-1600 for a small jousting horse. Second: an average medieval sword was less than 3 lbs, look it up if you don't believe me, A lance is 10-14 foot piece of wood 1.5" at the tip and 2.5" at the base
And third: My horse is 5yrs old, 6foot at his shoulder and 2100 pounds.
You all are pussies, I'd like to see you at the next renaissance festival mounting one of those beasts in full, 80 pound steel armor.... ya big vagina's
Yeah... only PUSSIES strap themselves to a 1200 pound animal, with a big, mean stick in their hand, and run at 40 miles an hour at someone doing the exact same, with the intention of shoving that stick into their face at full force.
Much better to get a stick half that size and just swing it at a dude with a big beard. THAT'S for real men.
That looked like James Merrilees that got dragged, good thing him, and the squire are both alright. Are the horses trained to stop after a night gets unhorsed or did this one just get spooked at kept going.
My girlfriend and I were both front row when this happened. I spoke briefly with the knight that was on our side and he said that he this was the first time he had ever been dragged like that, I thanked him, and we parted ways. It was definitely the most intense joust I have seen.
In case you were wondering... although banged up, no one was injured by the horse. In fact, they all went on to do the next joust two hours after this.
Man I was hoping someone would put this on youtube!!! I was there that day and saw this with my own eyes, pretty scary...I thought one of these men would not get back up. They probabley are still in pain from this! Good Day brave Knights and others involved!

This stuff is dangerous + there are no medics
figthersdreams 2 years ago
@figthersdreams no, there are always medics around, that would just be dumb
I'm fairly certain that in order to do this kind of stuff, you need permits with high safety standards

So do they have to give first aid medieval style? Where are the leaches, bring in the leaches!!! That had to hurt!. At least everyone was okay.

Jousting is for pussies. Try proper medieval or viking full on battle re-enactment. Thats for proper men!
Mordecaliath 3 years ago
Sure, because nothing shows your love for vaginas like holding a giant long blunt object in your hands that you like to swing around at other men.

I do both. They both require a different set of skills, but neither is better than the other. They're simply different. Much like rugby and football.
