  • yeah i just started this trade. it's pretty cool.

  • it was agreat help

  • I am a 32 year old Male Phlebotomist well Phlebotomist and I like it but its not like its a Beautician or hairdresser, its not a female job its just like most clinical or health care roles women seem to fall into it., But I encourage men to give it a go I cant understand why more men dont do it.

  • is this more of a female career then male?

  • This career is for both male and females. The medical field I believe has had a sizable increase in the male population and males have a great success rate out there. Our class of Phlebotomy Techs that just started 6-8-09 has 4 males in the class as did our class that is on externship ... presently all doing very well. It is truly a welcomed change to see males in our programs. (by Great Lakes Phlebotomy Department Head)

  • This is my job!

  • Hi can you tell me how long it took you to feel very comfortable doing this? I am thinking about this for possible career change.

  • At our school, it is a 5 month course and you do get extensive practice in the classroom. Most of our students are comfortable after about 4 weeks in the lab here in school. They also have an externship for 6 weeks 30 hours a week. That is where they really gain their confidence. They do receive a lot of practice between school and externship sites.
