anyone know if this game is only going to be Wii-EXclusive? because this is the only rpg game that actually looks good. Final fantasy died for me after the two best developers left to make there own company.... (this game is the best looking game they made so far imo)

It's exclusive to the Wii system, yes. Mistwalker developed it but the IP belongs to Nintendo...which is a pretty sad thing since NoA is currently unwilling to release the game. JRPGs just aren't as popular as they used to be and unless it's a well-known series that will sell a million copies, NoA's being a prick about it. Regardless of sales, Sakaguchi/Uematsu collaborated games need to be made available to gamers all across the world, IMO.
This game looks so unique and GOOD! The battle system looks really fun, dodging in and out of cover, using long range and short range weapons. Speaking of weapons, THEY LOOK AWESOME! It would be a damn shame if this and Xenoblade don't make it to America! American Wii owners/JRPG fans who have been supporting nintendo for as many years as me deserve to finally get an edgy hardcore rpg for the wii. LOOK UP OPERATION RAINFALL!!!
God damn. Mistwalker, our one last hope for traditional turnbased RPGs, has fallen into the "it needs moar ACTSHUN!!" mindset. We loved Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.. WHY do we have to get yet ANOTHER action RPG? It'd be nice to play a new RPG with a turnbased battle system some day, one that isn't a port/remake of an old title or part of the horribly niche titles that come out of Compile Heart and Idea Factory.
Love Lost Odyssey. It's one of my favorite JRPGs to date. While I greatly enjoy turn-based battle systems, I'm not about to pass up on TLS simply because of the battle system. Sakaguchi games have always been incredible in terms of music, characters, stories, and themes. He has a talent for evoking emotions in his games. We all know he can make turn-based ones so I'm curious about this one. Hopefully it doesn't mean he'll never make another turn-based game.

@RealAdamAntium Well, several aggregate sites, for starters. Everyone's giving it credit for how it streamlines the genre without removing content, integrating the story and the gameplay, and having one of the newest and most refreshing and glamorous aesthetics in all of video games.

This game, like all games, carry some cliches that have been there and done with before but I don't really see anything "generic" about the battle system. It seems rather complex and tactical as there appears to be several elements involved. Even if the game is completely "generic" as you put it, I don't see what the problem is. Seems to me like you're confusing the word "generic" with the word "sucks". Likewise, "innovation" isn't always equivalent to "awesome".

Just FYI, I found a guy who's playing through The Last Story and is providing English subtitles and commentary. Just look up "HakoNiNeko" and you should find his videos. He even explains the controls and all the little pop-up tutorials. Pretty good stuff.

The reason for a lack of localization announcement isn't that Nintendo doesn't think the game will do well. On the contrary, they believe it will do very well. It's just that they have their hands full with other things at the moment, especially getting all the big-name 3DS titles out and with Zelda: Skyward Sword. Localization is imminent , it just may take a long ass time. -_-
Monolithsoft is majority owned (80% or so) by Nintendo. They're first party now. And Last Story is 2nd party -since Nintendo owns the IP- which is pretty much the same thing as 1st, except they don't own or have shares in the studio that made the game.

The features in this game are quite impressive. But the overhead map reminded me to much of brothers in arms. I was really glad when the third one didn't have that feature.

Monolithsoft is majority owned (80% or so) by Nintendo. They're first party now. And Last Story is 2nd party -since Nintendo owns the IP- which is pretty much the same thing as 1st, except they don't own or have shares in the studio that made the game.

2nd party = games published (not made) by Nintendo
3rd party = games made and published by other companies

Is it me or the way you pause the game to select were to attack looks like in dragon age 2 ?
The game looks pretty slick!
I wish this was on other console... but with this hardware... most of the focus can be made on gameplay mechanics and story rather than having pretty graphics or at least that what Mistwalker said!
So I reckon is going to be an amazing game!!!

Cause I think a "real gamer" would play a good game on Wii for the same reasons they'd play any of the good games on any of the other consoles.
Is the Wii gimmicky? Yes, but so is every other console that tries to do something new. Which would be every console after the first one, pretty much.

The features in this game are quite impressive. But the overhead map reminded me to much of brothers in arms. I was really glad when the third one didn't have that feature.

Face it. The WIi isn't HD and you are sad BillGates. yet you can't accept the fact that it's selling better then the other HD consoles combined. Think about it: Wii ( non-HD) is selling better then the HD consoles. Shouldn't it be the other way around?! No, because the Wii ( and Nintendo) knows how to deliver entertainment in what makes games games: gameplay. Graphics is easy to fix.

98% of people who complain about the wii probably haven't even played the majority of the games, they just follow what someone else has said. I see so many people complaining and when the wii gets a good game, they say it doesn't deserve such a title and be put on xbox because it reaches a higher audience or something. NEWS FLASH!
