  • i thought he would swallow his tongue when he stammered

  • Her Majesty, The Queen Elizabeth II would be proud of the depiction of her father, The King George VI.

  • I loved how Firth got across the king's great vulnerability and humanity. You saw every cruel act perpetrated against the helpless younger son echoing down through the years every time the king opened his mouth. It was wrenching and beautiful. An eloquent and oddly subtle performance, given the very public nature of George's disability.

  • @suillynn73 he is! Isn't it crazy?! I find myself still not believing the facts myself!

  • @HelenDiazOfficial I agree. He's a great actor, and I'm sure all guys are jealous of his good looks and talent. Especially cause he's 50 and hasn't aged at all. :)

  • @mc0558 and who are you to say that about a man which you probably didn't knew? He was a good king and he managed it very well.

  • @mc0558: aren't those qualities all that is required to be a good king and a good man?

  • We all have probs with speech. Music is 10 times worse performing one day easy other day the Wall comes down. I think its where you are and who you are with.

  • @RichardElden Theres no need to feel intimidated! Its far better to admire others talents than to be jealous, bitter and twisted ;) ;)

  • one of the most powerful films ive seen in a loooooong time :)

  • I think he is a stunning actor!! and one of the only 50 year old men (yes HOW is he 50?! :P) that I find stupidly attractive both in personality and looks. Intelligent and just..... lovely :)

  • @HelenDiazOfficial I quite agree. Have admired him since his Mr. Darcy days. I haven't seen this film and am looking forward to seeing it

  • Finally a great role for Colin Firth! He's such a fantastic actor, but he always gets landed with archetypal Mr Darcy-esque characters. Now he's got a character he can really work with!

  • i'm seeing this movie tomorrow, i can't wait. Is it the first film with them both (Bonham Carter and Firth)?

finally Firth get a chance to entirely show his talent...

  • As the daughter of a man who stuttered, I thought the film was incredibly moving.

  • I just saw it today! Great character study, as is it a great historical documentary. Geoffrey Rush was witty and funny, too. I really liked it, and recommend it.

  • @RichardElden How about you try to accuratley immitate his stammer? It is NOT EASY! So he is obviousley talented!

  • I want to know what Her majesty thought of the film.

If she were to give a review it would be great would it not?

    HRHarps

  • @laur51 I just read today that Her Majesty gave The King's Speech two thumbs up and thought it was moving.

  • @RichardElden funny that this talentless libtard cunt as you call him has earned so many awards, featured in so many films and has the respect of numerous highly acclaimed and prestigious film makers has done quite well for himself. One can only say such a comment like the one you made with a firm base with specific evidence otherwise you danger yourself in looking like well, a complete eejit.

  • @RichardElden Lol, these people are rich actors who have a great career, what are you doing? You're sitting at home in your basement typing hate comments on left wing and monarchist videos. I bet you wish you have a girlfriend.

  • i am seeing the movie on thursday cannnnnnnnnnt wait :)

  • @RichardElden he's so sexy though

  • How about my movie about LOU LOU the Stuttering Boxer I! It was the price of The King's Speech lunch budget... SAVE IT ON NETFLIX under it's title RevoLOUtion so we can get a better license fee!!! It's already on there but not avail... we released it experimentally (free)in NY/LA, now i'm tweaking it, hopefull shooting two more scenes in spring summer 2011 - I look forward to your comments - and if you like you can comment on the additional scenes we are shooting at facebook under LOU LOU

  • I saw this film today and I would urge anyone to go see it. Colin Firth deserves many awards for this role. Such a fantastic, emotional and uplifting film.

  • @RichardElden did you see the right movie?

  • This movie is doing well here in the US. I saw it Christmas Day and it was fabulous. A lot of Americans probably know even less about this period of time than Mr. Firth says he does (as I do) but the story is compelling nonetheless. A must-see!!

  • Damn, Colin is still so beautiful and sexy! jadore that man!

  • Heard a radio version on BBC radio 4. You can probably hear it on the internet. It's well worth listening to.

  • I will kill that man in the ipod/kinect advert before this month is out... ¬_¬

  • I really want ot see this movie!!!

  • @heyginny It's a great movie. Made me cry, seing Colin Firth stammering and looking so flustered. Still, amazing film.

  • Saw the movie today and it is a definite "must see" for anyone interested in the period. Well Done!

  • For good information on King George VI, read "The Little Princesses" by Marion Crawfoird, their governess. George VI liked to do needlepoint, (like Rosie Greer!).

His mother (Q Mary), was remote, his father said "I was afraid of my father & my chilren ARE going to be afraid of me!" George VI wore splints to heal knocknees as a child. He was a 2nd son. THESE r the reasons he got a stammer. He nu about CCamps, UK llosses, but cudn't talk 2 any1 but churchill b them. He smokd. Died at 52. HERO!

  • Absolutely Magnificent movie

  • this looks promising

  • @JuanMacready In height and hair colour and style and accent hes closer than many other actors. The point is not to be identical to the people in question, but to deliver the most accurate portrayal of his character and his personality. I think Colin Firth is more than up to the challenge, and original reviews say he was quite remarkable.

  • @Mustang318 There's nobody who could do it better. Besides, I think he looks like he could play the Queen's father, whether or not he actually looks like George VI. Most people don't know what George VI looked like.

  • @JuanMacready Better suggestion then?

  • @JuanMacready It's time to call you a cunt again.

  • @JuanMacready You must be a mindless fool to say something ludicrous and cruel like that.

Everyone has the means to know what George VI looked like, there obviously are photos (thanks for that), but most people don't, especially not in America and they're aiming for a good reception there. Moreover, in America, Hugh Grant is a fucking joke of an actor who can only play eccentric man-boys lacking in depth. Physical resemblance has absolutely nothing to do with acting.

  • @JuanMacready That's probably why you're watching the trailer and coming back to comment every single day. Twit.

  • @JuanMacready I think anyone who feels they should insult two men they've never met, both of whom are better known and better thought of than that person, is talentless and irrelevant themselves. For gods sake, just because you don't like them, don't wish death on them and dont judge something you havent seen or been a part of. You don't have to comment on the video if you dont like it. Im sure people will survive if you dont.

  • @JuanMacready Hugh Grant is ok but his acting seems one dimentional so far. His foppish, cute and awkward style wears a bit thin after a while. I doubt if he could convey King George very well. I rather the hooker he got caught in the act with take on the role. No, Mr britches (Colin Firth) seems apposite to the role.

  • @JuanMacready you don't cast on looks, you cast on the actor's ability to play the role.

  • Getting really tired of adverts on 2 min. videos. That's rather absurd.

  • Gorgeous film - thespian heaven! OMG - Sir Derek Jacoby, too?!?!?! *swoons, dies*

  • Happy Birthday Colin!

  • Удачи фильму и Колину Ферту. Всегда интересно смотреть, что делают британцы.

  • I have to say what Colin Firth did at the end of the clip is pretty accurate. The King's speech defected condition consists of long pauses between words and not the usual repeating stammering.

  • I couldn't be more EXCITED!!! I've studied the the lives of King George VI & Queen Elizabeth since university. What an amazing coincidence! My favorite study and my favorite actor!!!

  • Great video. The movie is scheduled for limited release in the US in November.

  • So excited for this. I adore the King, he's so fascinating! I hope this is is distributed in Canada.

  • Helenaaaaa x3

  • Who knows. He may get nominated for an Oscar for this role.

  • Colin Firth AND Helena Bonham Carter??!! I think I just died. OMG!! cannot wait for this!

  • Can't wait to see this movie!

  • go helena!!!!! ^^

  • I so hope they are going to try and get this film out soon to ride on the back of ASM success!! Can't wait!

  • Yes, 1952, as early as possible! Thank you for this first glimpse - we are all so eager to see it!

  • Once again Colin appears to play this role so convincingly. Looking forward to the movie release.

  • I like that the Weinsteins are starting early to publicize this important film. It deserves the royal treatment!

  • @19521888 yes, wished they'd done the same with 'A Single Man'. Anyway-it does look good.

  • Wow! So Handsome..can't wait to see him in this

  • I LOVE YOU COLIN FIRTH. SO MUCH<3

  • Really looking forward to seeing this movie.
