  • I just recently fell in love with this song!!! I absolutely love Carmen's dancing! Really sensual and energetic. The guy was pretty swift on his feet, too and also very graceful. They got my vote! Now I wanna learn to dance like this. lol

  • :O ...Omg, That was AMAZING! I've never seen people dance so flawless!

  • e dema buenis el víde o me encanta dema diiivino

  • I look at that and think about the hundreds of hours of practice it took to be able to do that...... and how those hours could have been better spent, feeding the homeless, education our youth...... pretty much anything other than THAT.

  • @hoc66key then I look at it and think about the hundreds of thousands of hours of pleasure they've given others. And how those hours could not have been better spent than by supporting creative artistry, inspiring young and old alike to great things and of course, using their fame to organise charity events where they use their remarkable talent and dedication without monetary return to raise awareness for good causes.

  • @hoc66key then why don't you go do those things instead of commenting on Youtube videos?

  • They got beat!! :D

  • what was the title of the music they used??? pls answer me.. :)

  • This song is by Tito Puente, and it's called "Shing-A Tin Tin" and you can buy it off iTunes off of his album entitled The King.

  • All you guys with negative comments here. F*ck u all.

Bryan is a King. He was and always will be the Best. And you, at first achieve at least 1/100 of what he did, then open your mouth to criticise him.

  • @PrimaveraPortena according to your words, a customer cannot criticize a chef even if he doesn't like the food; a citizen cannot criticize a politician even if he doesn't like the policies. bryan is good, but he is not a god--, even a god can be criticized.

  • wow they are just awesome!!! And she has very beautiful legs... she should wear short dresses more often

  • i love this music! also one of my favorite songs: paloma gomes - canta bahia

  • We can enjoy this video free in youtube is such a good thing.

Like authors, they can earn money by every book they sale.

For dancers, it is so difficult to do that.

Anyway, their dance can lighten up my love to Latin dance.

  • were my eyes cheating or did he dance almost the whole time with knees bent?? especially when doing locksteps and walks... the only place where i saw him really straighten his legs were at new yorkers and checks... :D

  • @Suomiheke

Nope, split weights, weight placements, back rocks, points he had his knees straight. Just the points where you need them to be straight as well.

  • @AceyBlade when doing locksteps you should straighten up you knee. the same thing with walks

  • @Suomiheke

He straightened the knee in both locksteps and walks correctly. Otherwise the action in the body would die and not carry into the hips and sides. That is not the case here.

  • @AceyBlade so my eyes WERE cheating. :D

  • @Suomiheke Hmm, criticizing reigning Professional Latin champion for not straightening knee enough? You crack me up, pardner ;)

  • @TheBishopSSR That's "World Profession Latin Champion", btw.

  • @TheBishopSSR just discussed about that with my teachers Jukka Haapalainen - Sirpa Suutari-Jääskö and they agreed with me that Bryan dances with his own unique style which includes a lot of "loosy knees"... but still that doesn't change the fact that he's a damn good dancer! ;D

  • its Latin not ballroom......

  • @CullenChic1901 It's "Competetive Ballroom Latin" :) The Competitive ballroom includes ten dances in two major categories: Standard (Waltz, Tango Foxtrot, Quickstep, V. Waltz) and Latin (Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Pasodoble and Jive).

  • @TheBishopSSR yepp i am fully aware of the dances as i compete dancing themm...i was just informing you that the cha cha is a latin dance and in the name you put ballroom, that is merely all :)

  • @CullenChic1901 you tell them Sophie ;)

  • @TheBishopSSR whats your point? its only the latin theyre showing therefore its incorrect:)

  • I loove them sooo much!!! I wish I had that talent!

I wish I could embrace culture and feminine power like that!

  • de hu

  • Does anyone know the name of the song?

Their dance number is awesome btw :D

  • @Applejoydc shing-a tin tin with the king.. it is on spotify ;)

  • @Shvarmah Omg thank you SO much! ;D

  • I learned that Bruce Lee was a ChaCha Champion. I'm interested in learning it because I can see how the footwork would benefit to Kung Fu and boxing.

  • simple but perfect, amazing. good job

  • I like the song more than the performance. He's good, but I'm not liking her too much. She's a lot better than me though. Ha ha.

  • 0:14 lol

  • Although I used not to like B&C too much, I must admit that at cha cha, samba and jive they are just unbeatable..

  • What's up with all the discussion? Just enjoy the performance for what it is. And did he smack her butt at 0:15? LOL!

  • i no! right? lol

  • i luv this!!!!! there so good

  • dude bryan is the MAN.

  • The Song is: Shing A Tin Tin by Tito Puente

  • anybody knows the title of this song??

  • What's the name of this song?

  • Just watch the dance view rate and you can tell the answer.

They are the couple that still maintain the character and tradition.

  • titlle of this song ?

  • So many negative comments....this was a great performance...and the song is a pure LATIN cha cha cha.

  • that's because ths kind of latin dance has got own rules, what only know by the those who dance it

  • @lamrand I am sure that you dance a lot better than Bryan & Carmen do!

  • Dumbass haha i bet you sure do dance better... sure "bet" you do...

  • Seems like you're arguing a lot of different things. So it's a waste of our time to even waste our breath.

Good luck to you in WC. I enjoy it, but I like Latin and Standard more because they require a lot more discipline.

  • If he ever tries to do Latin, he'd learn to appreciate it because yes you do need to keep to the beat otherwise you're dropped places if you do NOT. It's not jerking it's emphasis to the beat.

  • Hunterston in your average latin competition you don't choose the music, you don't even know what it is going to be but you do know what the beat will be...duh!

  • If you think this an 8 beat repeating pattern it explains why you think he's not dancing to the beat, it's not. The first stepping stone to learning to dance like this is learning to hear the beat, then learning where the emphasis is, then learning how to move to it, once you've mastered step 1, you might have a more credible point, until then what you saying is 'factually incorrect'.

  • Dance is being judged by two different sets of criteria - a traditional latin or swing dancer will ask the question, is it rhythmic, does it smoothly follow the music and the lyrics - then ask the question, 'is the physical technique good'

In Dancesport the technique is an end in itself, where as in the other dance forms it is a means to an end.

  • If you knew anything at all about dancesport you would know it's all about the rhythm and importantly where to put emphasis on it, in cha-cha it's on the 1 and it's often counted 2,3, 4 and 1, which is a highlight or pause, dancesport latin is not about being smooth, we don't want smooth, we want contrast.

If you want a pepsi, don't order an orange juice, if you want smooth watch a smooth dance style.

  • Like I said, I don't think you understand what rhthym, you confuse it with the beat, is you don't appear to recognise that music has identifiable repeating patterns that the dancer should be following.

The object is to follow those repeating patterns, not chop them to pieces by adding 'contrast' at all the wrong points.

  • Discussion means listening to both sides of arguement - attempting to appreciate another point of view.

The point I'm trying to get across it that although very technically accomplished in physical area dancesport dancing simply does not flow with the music.

  • I love this :D

  • I think its a matter of what you defined as 'polished'.

To my eyes the jerking unrhythmic posturing looks less polished than the smooth, byt athletically less intensive Swing technique.

    It music v athleticism

  • I believe you think it's unrhythmic because the sound and video aren't perfectly together, either that or you just can't pick it out. By polished I mean more rehearsed, slicker and for want of a better word...more. It's just a question of what you like though, I can appreciate you like swing (I thought that bloke whose video you told me to watch looked like an intermediate) but that's just it, it's down to what you like. I Don't understand why you watch and comment on something you don't like.

  • @bparkes34

    He reads to me like:

"IT IS NOT ART LIKE THE DANCE STYLE I PREFER COS I UNDERSTAND ART DIFFERENTLY AND I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND SHIT ABOUT THIS DANCE STYLE COS I'VE NEVER DANCED IT ON A RELEVANT LEVEL YET I FEEL ELIGIBLE TO COMMENT ON IT AS IF I HAD A DECADE OF EXPERIENCE IN IT BECAUSE I AM RIGHT AND I WANT TO WIN THE INTERNET"

only in prettier words. Really, the internet, especially YouTube, is filled with these kind of people.

  • I would recommend you to ignore him. It's not like you will ever get through to him, because he's not here to discuss, he's here to prove the world of "latin dancesport" is wrong.

    /golfclap

  • Also bear in mind that in a WCS Jack and Jill the follower is EXPECTED, to back lead to show of her improvisational skills.

So the lead has a random partner, random music, and he doesn't know how anything he leads is going to finish.

He's also trying to hit accents in the lyrics as well as the music

  • Americans smooth/rhythm is not Swing!!!!

There are various forms of competion. The choreographed showcase to set music. The competion sets piece to random music, but the most challenging is The Jack and Jill, where competitors compete as individuals, not couples

The Jack and Jill competion is where couples are paired at random then required to improvise to random piece of music.

Check out West Coast Swing Jack and Jill on Youtube.

  • No, its 'latin dancesport' which has all the same formalities and lack of rhythm as 'ballroom dancesport'

Dance is either a sport or an art. It can't be both, the traditional latin dance, AT and Swing communities lend see it as an 'art'. . . . the competitive international community see's it as a 'sport'

When it becomes a 'sport' restrictive rules are created until the dance ceases to be an artistic interpretation of the music and more a physical interpretation of the competion rules.

  • That is your opinion and interpretation and of course you are entitled to it, I do however think you are mistaken and disagree to some extent. Yes we see it as a sport, we compete in it and it's a physical activity therefore a sport, yes there are rules which are sometimes restrictive, such as not allowing both feet to leave the floor at the same time, but there is still HUGE room for artistic interpretation.

  • Hunterston, in swing competitions and american smooth does everybody dance to a set piece of music or do you not know the song in advance beforehand? Does everybody dance to the same thing or does each couple dance individually?

  • If do a search for West Coast Swing Jack and Jill you'll come up with a video' Tips for West Coast Swing Jack and Jill competitions' on the first page which gives a good idea of is involved.

  • I think there is the difference then, you never know what the music is going to be at an international latin event, only the beat and it's relative speed. The dancing is a lot more choreographed and you simply couldn't dance at the same level in the 'jack and jill' format, although we do sometimes do a 'fun' event like that at more socially orientated competitions. It probably explains why to my eyes latin american looks more polished, the format is geared up for it.

  • It's hardly necessary since you have already identified the difference between Jason and Bryan - which is, as you have pointed out (as a fault) that Jasons dancing flows smoothly with the music.

There's there's also the 'ballroom dancers' test in which you can clearly show that ballroom dancers can't identify rhythmic dancings

  • But Hunterston, this isn't ballroom.

  • Your critque of Jason v Bryan defines this division - you are more concerned with the technique used than the 'smooth' musical interpretation.

For latin and swing dancers its the other way round - techique is a means to musical interpretation, not an end in itself.

  • It's not so much the 'loose hips' as a complete 'softening' of the movements to follow the rhythm.

Real latin dancers, Swing dancers and AT dancers are trying to catch the waves/pulses of rhythm, which have a regular rise and fall.

They are trying to ride the wave rather than cut through it - its sail v power.

99% of ballroom dancers don't seem to be aware there is a wave to be caught (as in the above video)

  • Comment removed

  • Hunterstone, please can you upload a video of you dancing so you can properly demonstrate how it's done?

  • @bparkes34 lol

  • Counting the beats and getting the foot placement right with the beat has nothing to do with rhythm. . . .

Take a look at some 'Latin' Cha Cha Cha on youtube and ask yourself how the ballroom interpreterers of the dance managed to get is so completely wrong.

Where did the 'stiff leg' come from? No real latin dance is done with a stiff leg - ever considered why>

  • This unfortunate affliction is purely ballroom syndrome. A lot of classically trained ballroom dancers seem to have a mental block when it comes to Latin dances. They don't loosen their hips enough to really groove with the music, especially with cha-cha and bachata. As amazing as these dancers usually are, you can always spot one immediately in any Latin competition.

  • Amazing!

  • great dancers

  • I think he;s fantastic. I really really don't like her. Sorry all the Carmen fans but seriously if they honestly deserved the world title then its because of Bryan because seriously Carmen....sigh. She has no musicality and either she's activating that core too much or not at all but she looks incredibly stiff in her upper body.

  • I don't mind Carmen, but I prefer Bryans old partner Karen Hardy, I've been lucky enough to see them live at competitions I've been competing in and they were jaw droppingly good together.

As to HunerstonB, I think this is more likely a playback error with video and sound, you see this guys dance in real life and they are very much with the rhythm, I was taught by his ex partner Karen and she wold teach you the count, you had to understand where you where on the O, the N and E in one.

  • I always find it amusing when people criticise couples at the very, very top of the sport yet haven't really done a lot themselves. I mean, really, Sunday circuit and international professional competiton and worlds away, If you really knew more than these two I'm sure we would be watching video's of you guys and not these.

  • Nobody notice that the 'performers' - dancers isn't the right word, completely ignore underlying rhythm of the music?

  • The song is actually

"Shing-A Tin Tin" by Tito Puente

    Great dancing, awesome video.

  • qual'è il nome di questa canzone? ditemelo perfavore!

  • do u hav it can u send it to me?
