  • As huge of a John Lennon fan I am, I honestly thought (don't know how I ever thought it) that he would suck singing this song, I didn't think it would fit his voice. But man, I was dead wrong. He KILLED it!!!

  • Thumbs up if you skipped straight to john's performance

  • AROUND 5:45 HE SAYS "HELLO JULiAN"

  • sadly 16 people don't have leg to stand on

  • legal !muito bom

  • Just been listening to this on Johnnie Walkers sounds of the 70s. Just had come Youtube and find it. And he does say hello Julian!

  • He's saying hello to his son not his dead mother, he knew the songs would be on the old grey whistle in England where his son lived.

  • He said hello Julian.

  • @Beatlejoose56 No way! he said hello Julia!

  • @fauvent No, he said "Hello Julian" because Julian lived in London at the time, in fact Julian says the only reason he covered "Stand by me" on his concerts was because of that, it was special for him to hear that.

  • @Arielewen78 Ok ok! he said hello Julian :P

  • It's an Oliver made of chocolate .

  • what is a fucking chocolate oliver ?

  • thumbs up this if you got chills/very emotional when he said 'hello julia'

  • I wish there was a version of this version that wasn't sped up. Thanks for the upload though.

  • Amazing Voice...shivers

  • ((°J°))

  • The intro for this makes it for me - how the track came about..... FEE.......Chocolate Olivers!!!! @kassidyuk you should do a cover of this (one day in the future)...x

  • I just think he was like the greatest rock icon of them all. It has nothing to do with his death. He was just a cool, cool guy when he was alive, and his amazing-ness was secured even before he died.

  • not sure what's going on here folks. Why should artists not reinterpret other artists songs. Its a form of compliment. Or where do u draw the line?

  • He shouldn't sing this song, Ben E King and Celentano are super.

  • @hakobriganyan sorry youre soooo wrong.love Ben E King.saw him live in 66 performing this beautiful song.but lennon has got this just right.....outstanding.take off the blinkers.lol

  • @debidavify I am wrong from your point of view. Think about it !

  • @hakobriganyan everones entitled to there view, but please explain why you thought he shouldnt have done it.i personally love both versions.

  • @debidavify When you love an artist and you belong to the same culture, your way of thinking has tendency to love anything he will perform especially when this artist is as great as Lennon. For example Jack London is my favorite writer but it is very difficult for me to accept that "The little lady of big house" is a bad work. The reason is one: We should evaluate things being a little more independent of our feelings.

Sorry if my English is not quite good.

  • @hakobriganyan i can see where youre coming from.but as a lifelong fan of both lennon and ben e king i have evaluated both on there individual merits not feelings, and find they are both equally brilliant in their own right.but that is my personal opinion.but i understand what youre saying..youre english is very good, lol

  • @debidavify ok, I respect your opinion. But can you please say where I come from :)

  • @hakobriganyan i was just interested why you felt lennon shouldnt have recorded this song.and i do see where youre coming from....

  • Lennon was one of the best songwriters/performers EVER!

  • 3:10 I love his smile and laughter

  • 9 People won't stand by you.

  • this sux too bad i was born in early 90's now i cant c the legendary JOHN LENNON.....R.I.P. John Lennon

  • @N17steve Sorry Steve. Lennon was cool. But this was an extremely poor cover, let alone a weak song...

  • @kya1260am:Let alone that Bob Harris, who got satirically derided by lots of the new upcoming punk/new wave+though he has lost lots of HAIR in the meantime-still has the sour atmosphere of a puritan reformist pastor trying to collect his sheep.A great band"Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoias"offered a gem to end torture of several years of"Whistle Test"with an EP called"No Nonsense-Mindless Boogie"(77)which has a parody of Bob Harris(Dead Meat Pt 2)interviewing Roddy Llewelyn, lover of Princess Margret!

  • @tauntingfrenchman1 It's a shitty song. Go shoot yourself you damn Frenchman. So ungrateful for the support in the battle of Normandy :)

  • Horrible and unoriginal. I wish he never recorded this. Dreadful!!

  • @kya1260am and that's why it should have been you who was shot instead of him.

  • @kya1260am Why the hell are going to be on this video if your going to talk shit about the

  • @kya1260am Why the hell are going to be on this video if your going to talk shit about the video

  • Man John's trippy here. Love it.

  • I would chop off my legs and put my hand in a blender for him to come back alive:/ At least I'll be able to shake his hand with my other hand:)

  • hehe or Roots as it was called on an early release.

  • "hello Julian" @ 5:25.....priceless.

  • Happy Birthday John. I truly hope the world will finally "Give Peace A Chance" as the best gift it can offer you on your special day!

  • hey coreymcnugget stop hating on john lennon wat did he ever do to u

  • 3:10

  • is that Bob's cd collection? fuck!

  • God he rips that "when the night," he's like hello? are you listening yet?

  • How this man lost his last chance with God.......what a pitty! We cannot say respect him same than we say respect anyone else: "He passed to a better life".

  • is this john lennon's song or b.king?

  • Why sombody would shoot this guy is beyond me, John Lennon you are an inspiration to us all R.I.P

  • All you guys that would do disgusting things to have John living again I'm sure are nothing to what John himself would do to "be living again".

  • John Lennon at 3:10 laughing at himself is priceless.

  • John is a great big chocolate oliver....he is sooooooooooo delicious.

  • legend.

  • fuck the intro is more longer than song of Lennon. jajajaja

  • if you want to skip the long intro click on the 03:25 time mark,

    where the song begins

  • thx dude! really appreciated it! keep it up!

  • @hockeybooks @3:10 is a better mark

  • @hockeybooks Why? I think is very interesting to know the story behind John's finally recording this song for the BBC, I love how John gave thanks for the chocolate olivers

  • @hockeybooks Good call! Who is this boring twat anyway?

  • @publicanimal9 Bob Harris, apparently.

  • @16forever never heard of the moron...hopefully never will!

  • i recall seeing this when it first came out on tv. I was 15 - bought the album the next week and lent it to a guy at school who never returned it. That's 34 years later but I still remember the git. Great memories though.

  • WOW, that is one hell of a collection of CD's he has behind him!

  • this song is really god

  • "stan by me" john lennon es el mejor

  • a labour of love from Dr Winston O'Boogie

  • i love how he sings with such emotion, wish i could have seen him perform

  • Take out the first 3 minutes of that video and this is good as gold.

  • statement ov the year, what is tht clown on about? lol

  • That guy isn't a clown... That is Bob Harris, a musical institution in the UK

  • fuck you

    stand by me!

  • Whats with all the hate about a John Lennon video? I am sure John would ask, 'Where is the Luv? Bloody Hell people!!!!!

  • wow , what a cd- collection he has behind der speaker at the beginning :)

  • wow! thats amazingly awesome! haha

  • Oasis are sadly rehashing what others cooked up. And EVERYTHING others cooked up was FIRST cooked up by the Fab Four. Shut yourself in a shed with their early albums. Listen to all of them. THEN return and tell me how you feel.

  • Yeah, if you're Terry Schiavo.

  • right

  • technojunkie79: Oasis is pure amazingness =D

  • in ur dreams

  • I think retards like you who've only heard "Yesterday" and "Love Me Do" should shut the hell up.

  • 3:21

  • oooorah, watch out watch out, there's a brain dead person about... And guess what? it is you!!!

  • Bloody Brilliant!

  • Amazing stuff

  • Always been my favourite Lennon solo song because of this very clip.Great story and his referral to Julian topped off a a great OGWT series for me.

  • I'd love to know who were the muscians that played along side John in this clip...

  • The musicians are the same as the ones on JLs Rock n Roll album 1975

  • and they are whom ???

  • thats pretty good. that guy should start a band.

  • that's a good point....lol

  • ya lol what a retard

    Steamvox

  • What can I say? One of the best performances by John Lennon. Great commentary by Bob Harris too. Thank you for posting this. You made my day!

  • exactly what i need right now. thank you, John.

    With love from Sweden.

  • I just love the behind the scenes story. A whopping 15 pounds for John Lennon. What's that US at the time? 35 bucks??? And to think SNL was willing to pay 3,000 for all four or 750 per fab. Such a deal.

  • Wonderful backstory from the BBC gentleman (sorry I didn't catch his name), and song performance by John.

  • think it was Bob Harris, who was a sort of not quite as funny as John Peel bbc dj.
