  • I wish I can enter a disco with my girl hearing the chorus of this song playing, pink light on the dance floor and people casually dancing, having a great, relaxing time.

Unfortinatley I doubt that will ever happen. All you have is dirty, filthy trash clubs polluted with mainstream music.

Well, I guess I would have to search for alternatives for my whole life. Its such a shame I wasnt lucky enough to be raised during the 70's and 80's.

Oh well, nothing we can do.

  • This is just great!

  • First heard of this band when I lived "down under". Some of my mates said they'd never last. Talk Talk were a very under-rated band back in the '80's. Listening to them now, compared to what we hear today, so much of the stuff now is so much the same. Back then, I remember there was also the band called ABC (Poison Arrow), also Bryan Ferry & Roxy Music, & not forgetting Simple Minds, one of the greatest '80's bands ever.

  • @Balksa LOL, I was thinking the exact same thing. I remember how everyone was so aloof - no eye contact, lots of distance from anything sensate, emotional, etc. HAHA! It doesn't get much plastic. The music was heavy on the synths for a reason - make it as digital and as machine-like as possible. However, I'm psyched that people are enjoying it, cuz it IS really good, fun music.

  • @TheOneandOnlyMartha I think he/she meant we are a very sex/drugs/material things society with a lot more respect for those who are beautiful and average than to those who can actually sing.

  • I like this music ColourofSpring, congratulation for this beautiful video and an excelent job.

  • @selberverdeckt Yes.

  • @selberverdeckt Do you like Anders Behring Breivik?

  • @selberverdeckt Nice pic.

  • thumbs if Saints row the 3rd brought u here !!!

  • Thanks posting this song.

  • this is my happy place :-)

  • talk talk are stiil years ahead of almost every band out there

  • I first heard this song in Saints Row 3 and I feel in love with it. this new age music sucks all the good music has already be made and its a shame.

  • No Doubt can go get fucked.

  • @Peppepoppldoppl do not want!! lol

  • @Peppepoppldoppl

Why because they did a cover of the song? Artists do it all the time go find a better reason to rage and come back to us.

  • @Goingupnk3 You are one dumb little cunt.

And don't even bother adding yourself into a lot of "us". You are certainly not part of enlightened people with decent taste in music, you are a little shit trying so desperately to defend a horrible, atrocious and obnoxious musical artist like No Doubt.

And to add in, I never "raged". I simply wish to say that No Doubt should be fucked; by a steel phallus in the arse.

  • @Peppepoppldoppl Now, play nicely....

  • I can listen to this but their post rock is alot better.

  • Mark Hollis sings the shit out of this song, absolutely belts it out. I suspect Gwen Stefani was high as fuck when her corporate advisers suggested she cover it.

  • One of the best songs of the past 40 years...Lyrics, hook, everything. I loved Bill Nelson and BeBop Deluxe...I can hear the freshness that conjoins the one to the other. And Roxy. The use of major chords...very optimistic. Very shiny music. HappyHappyJoyJoy!

  • This sounds a bit like Roxy Music from the late 1970s. Anyone remember Roxy Music, or Be-Bop Deluxe? This music is plain stylin'. Great dance music and 'phone music.

  • @mickeymousebiker1 Yes Mickey we remember Roxy music, that goes for me and my kids anyway ,i turned them on to alot of great music ,just like my parents turned me on to rocknroll ,soul etc...from the 60s,used too listen to alot 80s while they were gowing up,i was born in 60, they were born through the 80s..So we got to here allot of the best of music...Peace always

  • @60srecords I'm really a bustin'-out-for-Rosie-heading-for-the-wall Rocker. I dig The Cult, Screaming Trees, Foo Fighters, Steppenwolf, Monster Magnet, Motorhead, et al. I'm also into the garage/psychedlic sound of the mid-1960s. I also like older Jazz and Classical. My tastes are somewhat eclectic. Stay safe and well out there.

  • Talk Talk's post rock is far better than the New Wave stuff.

  • Super Titel ! Voll meine Musik

  • Mark Hollis is one truly EVIL piece of shit!

One of the most talented musos who ever lived yet keeps his awesome talents secret!

FFS! His mind bogglingly awesome solo album is 15 fucking years old!!! And he seems to disregard his VU/Kraftwerk/Eno-like high quality music as some kind of bullshit...

Holllis: if you are listening Get Over It, you are a great musician and people who love music need more of you because you are as good as it gets... (You really are!)

  • the best pre chorus ever!!

  • Can you imagin hear music like this in bars or discos today?

    That seem soooo unreal !!

We are a very plastic society... Empty with meaning

    well no all of us...

Some still apreciate music with content and spirit.

I dont want be sucked in again in new era negative shit!

If I have to, I'll be a musical hermit!

    An happy musical hermit!

  • @Jasp21 Lol the 80s were an incredibly plastic decade.

  • @Jasp21

Very true but remember that the great songs will sail on to the next generation(The Beatles are the perfect example)where as the empty 'plastic' stuff will fade away as it should.

  • @Jasp21 Agreed Sir!

  • I am so proud to say that I was born in 1980 and experienced the most original and glorius decade ever.

  • very nice song!

  • luv it !

  • Great song... i would love to think that Marc Hollis was influenced by David Sylvian eventually to explore different avenues.

  • i want to go back to the 60s first buy tons of lsd an then gonna have some fun in the 80s

  • Linda música....anos 80....!!!!

  • Great Song :))))

  • Fuck Gwen Stefani and No Doubt - What a cheap rip-off of such an amazing piece of music. Talk Talk and Mark Hollis...no more, no less. Brilliant.

  • @WasabeJoe Amen! brother

  • How could anyone fuckin' dislike this song? I can so identify with it... :'(

  • Synthesised shite, proper music of the 80's= the smiths

  • This song is STRONG.

  • I Love this song!

  • quaility so many 80s memories. thank you TALK TALK :)

  • you still know no doubts cover did it great service.

  • 80's synthesized muffled magic - good stuff

  • there was a massive amount of shit around in the eighties (as there is in every decade of pop music) talk talk were a beacon whos light still shines bright today...

  • 9 Dislikes? 9 idiots.

  • its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the rock and roll music hall of fame with the fab four the beatles.

  • What a gift in the Summer of 84!!!! Appeal? He wants it.The man poured his poor soul out at us.

  • Eu nasci em 1994 xD mesmo asim eu sinto uma nostalgia *-* mesmo nao sendo dessa decada maravilhosa

  • Think of how so many songs were written in the 80's the amount of talent out there.

ABC, Ultravox, Talk Talk, Gary Numan, Human League just to name a few.... You can remember the names and the songs... How many from the 90's and 2000's + are classics today????????? none.........

  • @AussieGirlsbets Not forgetting Japan, Simple Minds and Duran Duran... But yeah, I can't recall that many songs from the 2000's that were particularly memorable or groundbreaking. The 90s were not all bad, we had The Verve's outstanding 'Urban Hymns' album, plus some great releases by the likes of Oasis and Radiohead, but apart from that we had to endure the awful Spice Girls and 'boy band' crap. Today it's all R&B and Hip-Pop (not 'Hip-Hop', let's not kid ourselves, real Hip-Hop is long dead).

  • Karziflora I can so relate... just brilliant lyrics, music, depth, feeling.... just blessed to be around the same time frame as the band :).

  • Its still the orginial and the Best... still so haunting to this day :)

  • Makes me cry.....nostalgic!!!

  • fenominal!!!!

  • "If I could buy my reasoning I'd pay to lose"

  • A Masterpiece.

  • I've been listening since the fifties and this song deserves a place among the classics for tune, lyrics, vocal and synth arrangement all the great pop ingredients are there, plus a special eighties twist in terms of chord switches and beat counts

  • I've been listenin since the fifties and this son deserves a plce among the classics for tune, lyrics, vocal and synth arrangement all the great pop ingredients are there, plus a special eighties twist in terms of chord switches and beat counts

  • The excellent song !

  • Well the No Doubt version sure was a classy copy. She did it justice.

  • @scooterss2112

Her vocals don't touch Hollis' though....

  • @LikeAGlassAsterisk well she doesnt have the chipmunk vibrato, but i think thats a good thing.

  • @scooterss2112

Yeah, Hollis does have a very distinctive vibrato. But quite frankly that is part of his harm and in this song it adds a lot to the vocals and makes them come across as more passionate and authentic.

  • @LikeAGlassAsterisk

Agreed. Mark's vocal is especially evocative on Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock, as well as Mark's solo album.

No Doubt's cover of this song was one of my favorite pop tunes of 2003, though. Gotta give Gwen props for how she treated the song.

  • @LikeAGlassAsterisk I think you meant to say charm, nor harm - quite a diffeent meaning !!

  • I want a time machine to take me back to the 80s!

  • @bjorn2run me too, lets build one!

  • @bjorn2run

You and millions of other middle-aged folks like myself!

  • @bjorn2run BACK TO THE 80S!

  • @bjorn2run been there .was shit .

  • Want to get loads of "Thumbs ups"? Just post "I love the 80,s" ;-)

  • i wish i had lived in the 80s

  • @MichelleSchillig I did. Believe to me, there was plenty of crap around, just like now. And, from time to time, you could stumble into some sheer poetry like this. Just like now.

  • Masterly

  • ze jus, zey to kil ze jizus krist. jisus hi wos gud men wiht strong bolls

  • Great

  • retro likey..

  • its too fast

  • i love this song..........

  • After a steady diet of Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Beatles and The Who...is it any wonder that the New Wave invasion happened during the '80s?!

  • viva la 1984!! Everything was way-cool then

  • @doctorbombay Agreed!! ..Almost an extension of the free thought and love movement of the 70's ....new wave was the new genre on the block...and some bands event broadened the scope of this genre like 'Talk Talk' ....magical!

  • No Doubt doing THIS song?..Thats like a roach on a birthday cake...

  • @xepobnha666 i to lav yuo vary mach. you to heve ze gud hiumor. yuo to laf at gawyn stefany yes shi to be stupeed garl but she to heve strong smoll bubies and a large vajin. i to laik her hehehe

    i lave you

  • DALI as Coca-Kafka / when i wanna die i know.. ITS MY LIFE IT NEVER ENDS

  • your all so white

  • Totally my era in high school, what a time it was. left and right from Thomspon twins-lies, hold me now, doctor doctor, echo & the bunnymen-the killing moon, Roxy Music-more than this, take a chance with me, Bryan ferry-Dont stop the dance, Tears for fears-pale shelter, shout.......................I could literally go and on. Looks those, you will be very happy.

  • Seems to me that mankind reached the pinnacle of evolution in the 80's, if we have stopped then we'd be way much better than we are today.

  • i think there is a real good ska covor of this anyone know what im talking about?

  • they are fucking awesome. My god how music today is for ass wipe.

  • @codern ..sadly today we have a population who think anybody who can sing someone elses song vaugley in tune is a megga star!!,,l bet simon cowell cant believe how he has fooled the idiot public into thinking he knows what he is talking about!..

  • @eddietwang i couldnt fucking agree with you more! simon cowell i would wager has been the num. problem with what has happened to music and its perpetuating problem. He is a clever witty aggressive business man and a musicians..or rather..an Artist's worst nightmare. If you peal back his veneer of intelligence and civility, for what he has done to mainstream culture, he should looked at as a criminal. He's a parasite undeserving of his fortunes.

  • @codern thank you thank you my friend.!! l despair of the music industry today..as the great bill hicks said could you imagine jimmi hendrix or the rolling stones endorseing coke cola?..sadly today we are the minority.

  • @eddietwang well, the thing about the "music industry" today...is that it really isnt the music industry...it is actually reflective of the "entertainment industry". ..the music industry if with any integrity whatsoever exists underground. the best is underground, the shit gets to be on top. Why, because there is a perpetuating problem finding the next "big thing" which never has staying power and so the industry seeks for the next BIG THING...because everything is catered to our

  • @eddietwang oblivious youth, mainly for social events...they have unknowingly been (and are being) manipulate by corporations who look at them as easy targets (which they are) using pop stars who have no talent but appeal to the youth ...like justin bieber (the biggest tool of the industry). Parents are just as clueless letting such child abuse continue, they look at it is lighthearted fun youthful stuff, resulting in a false sense of art and expression, depriving real

  • @eddietwang artists of eve having a chance , and all for the mighty dollar which dictates humanity. but when we die, we take nothing with us, at very least, we could have left something.

  • @eddietwang ..my good friend,l was a wee bit stoned the other night so rambled on a bit,but like you said the great bill hicks knew the score spot on..jimi,the stones, zep, lou reed, the beatles dr feelgood, new york dolls, dylan, talk talk and a whole host of fantastic talent were only in it to make great music.there are still fantastic muscians out there who have something to say but sadly they will never get the chance

  • i was kinda sad when i found out no doubts wasnt original but i do like this one better

  • Absolute class tune...in the 80`s i would have said record lol

  • Absolute class tune...in the 80`s i would have said recored lol

  • no-one can cover this, very stupid to even try

  • @MrSooty104 no doubt!

  • When I look at all my old vinyl they're nearly all from around this time. Its good to listen again.

  • vice city stories anyone?

  • @NickInfante92

    YES!

  • i got this album on cassette haha how old am i ....the best still love them

  • it's my life! GREAT!

  • @MrMilo58 Gli anni '80 non moriranno mai!

  • @shockerishere If you are 50 years old now, you couldn't be 34 when this song came out. this happened in 1984, so 26 years ago: 50-26=24. You were 24 years old :-)

  • @portoportugal22 who said they was 50 now ure right tho im 50 now but i wasnt 34 when this came out...i was 25 near enough

  • GENIAL, DECOIFFANT !!!!!!

  • rather unexciting....

  • This song is so catchy..Timeless, it envolves all the listeners no matter age,and nothing to enjoy good music, When i hear songs like this, Its easy to be released from time, from concerns, i was lucky to enjoy it when this song rocks...And I feel really distant those times :(

  • I know this sounds really silly for a person who likes 80s music i only realized that no doubts version was a cover today but hey, i was only born in 1993. When i heard the no doubt version today i did think to myself "this would sound great with some 80s synth" lol, luckily now i know of this lol!!!

  • 1984, my year of birth :)

  • @Tane84 I dream about that..going back to those long gone years..memories..the music was the best. When you hear an eighties song, you know it's eighties. What a decade to have lived in.

  • @Tane84 It was an awesome year. I was a teeny whopper.

  • There is plenty of good music now days, you people just need to stop listening to Top 40.

  • Man I love the bass in this song. If I played bass, this would be the kind of song I'd love to play. Sounds fun.

  • @Margar02 so you wanna hear a good bass today, i would take "kings of leon" - crawl

  • @Margar02 i play bass and this song too, start playing man!! its really cool..

  • MAN I LOVE THIS SONG. I LOVE THE80S. NOT THE CRAP THEY PLAY NOW

  • @MrVampiredog Totally my era in high school, what a time it was. left and right from Thomspon twins-lies, hold me now, doctor doctor, echo & the bunnymen-the killing moon, Roxy Music-more than this, take a chance with me, Bryan ferry-Dont stop the dance, Tears for fears-pale shelter, shout.......................I could literally go and on. Looks those, you will be very happy.

  • @MrVampiredog

Its not the crap itself. Its the damn and corrosious time that puts out the crap.

    Best Regards

  • @MrVampiredog never heard that before

  • @MrVampiredog

    80s FOR LIFE!

(i need a T shirt for next summer with that actually haha)

  • you 50 year olds r sooooo luck to have been in the 80's i envy u lol.....

  • @lisarri23 i am 50 and was 34 when this song come out it was good days!!! but i was young and now i wish all the young to have the best... but its the yourger people that dont care for nothing but them self... and that sad

  • The volume is much greater on the original version too! Turned 49 today! I should know as it came out when I was 23....eat your heart out! Rock out youngsters!!!!

  • Can't find a video on You Tube of this song that doesn't have something negative about Gwen Stefani to say in its top-rated comments. So mundane. I was actually pleased to hear it on the radio when it I first heard it. It's only through these covers that we are reminded and appreciate the past. Plus she and No Doubt have plenty of original material, unlike many artists who live off remakes and butchered samples.

  • @nfp73redux I couldn't agree with you more, if idiots who are quick to throw dirt did a little research they'd find that their heroes have heroes who had heroes, etc. and somewhere along the way they will find someone that they [don't like] is adored by someone [they love]... they can marinate on that for a minute... :)

  • One of my favourite bands of all time the only other one would be Icicle Works...But I did like No Doubts version of this it stayed true to the original as many don't and what a great video ;-)

  • YAY!!!

  • This song takes me back to Los Angeles 1984...the Olympics.....those were the days!

  • Great song! The cover by No Doubt is less than the original.

  • this has to be the best song ever, what an outstanding piece of art. It should be voted as one of the wonders of the world!

  • The 80's was a time in music that can never be repeated, but these new artists keep trying to recreate 80'smusic by it into thier new stuff. No matter what they do it will never be as good or as original as it was in the 80's.

  • basta ascoltarla per rendersi conto di come sia squaliida la cover che l'ha rovinata per solo commercio insulso .

  • Damn, when I heard this song, I just get 25 years younger, yep I was 26 when I heard this song for the first time, they could really make damn good music at that time.

  • Yeah I luv this original, I do like Stefani's cover too, but yeah this is the best

  • Probably my favourite 80's tune.

  • liked the no doubt version as well..but of course talk talks is way BETTER!

  • Very interesting song....just heard it for the first time the other day....had no idea that this wasn't No Doubt's song!

  • Heard this on 80s radio the other day. It's like finding a long-lost treasure!

  • FENOMINAL !!!

  • I dont know, Its kinda a feminine song, Gwen added alot more to it. great song never the less,

  • Released in 1984 and still a fantastic song 26 years down the road. :-)

  • Still wonderful!! Bliss!!!

  • Super! dobrze posłuchać muzyki z młodzieńczych lat.

  • rock and roll hall of fame is a joke

  • No Doubt's cover is great Obviously the original version always is better

  • coole stimmeee echt hamma

  • marty9040 is a big fan,i can't blame the guy, talk talk were brilliant.

  • @snoozylacetti. thats because i am a broken record lol. also im a retard as im sectioned in a mental hospital.

  • its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the music hall of fame.

  • Did you ever consider that you might sound like a broken record...you've posted the same comment on every talk talk video (+i'm sick of the sight of it!)

  • LOVE this damn song!

  • oh dear, since when does commenting on a great 80's song descend into verbal, racist name calling?? Not needed, thankyou. Little spats are for the playground, not for adults.

  • @MOSESCAT69 Here here! Let me reminise on my youthful, carefree 20's. I was only 21 when this came out and sooo happy!

  • I found this on Vice City Stories. The newer version I found on the radio.

  • what channel on vice city?
