  • Holy shit, De looks miserable.

  • I love the high fives and thumbs up at the end. Awesome video!

  • I wish I had the chance to do this.

  • the woman in this reminds me of the elf in Ernest Saves Christmas

  • Its really weird to see the original actors performing in character in such a low budget corny thing like this

  • Haha, so cheesy from that show. Weird I don't remember this one when I went to Universal Studios in summer of 1993.

  • I don't think that was DeForest Kelley's "nervous stomach" but rather the cancer that was acting up

  • Those adventures are funniest thing ever in its kitschiness and silyness

  • hey joe

    sshhuuppdduupphh

  • god theme parks sucked back in the day.....

  • from 5:57 onward that is the funniest scene!!!!!

  • I always wondered how those klingons got their hands on the Reliant.

  • i really want to do this now do they still offer it? or has it been cancelled? i know gene's been dead for quite a few years now...

  • so cool! I wish I'd gone on this while it was there

  • LOL!!!

  • It's great to see the orig cast by my GOD this "ride" was hokey

  • lol you can see the boom mic coming into frame over Gene's head @0:38

  • my dad and my brothers did this when they were just in grade one and two

  • Years ago, I enjoyed making this video at Universal Studios in Florida. After my parents saw this video, they wished they joined me.

  • di they still have it? I know King Kong ride is closed

  • both bridges were the same

  • I'll upload mine soon too!

  • Haha, I just uploaded mine. I was still in high school then. This was around 1991 or 1992. However, your audio is much better and your mother is a hoot.

  • This is considered canon now I heard

  • Alternate universe.

  • @Blendeture Huh? Canon, you mean people actualy thought this clip was a lagit part of the series?

  • @Blendeture LOL

  • Nothing like going on this ride with your MOM ROFL!

    My mom is spock !

  • Hey putz, it isn't a ride. Your Mom is a ride.

Like I said in the description, it was my Mom or some stranger. Get a clue.

  • i did one, will upload soon

  • :39 the mic lmfao

  • Simon pegg is now scotty the other one passed away i think

  • I have one of these vhs recordings that my Grandparents did. They weren't the best of actors, but it still was interesting to watch them. Thanks for posting yours.

  • Oh wow! I have this on VHS somewhere! This was so much fun to do!

  • I never got a chance to do this. I barely knew it existed until one of these was "disguised" as a first look at Star Trek XI

I just wish I could put myself on that bridge.

  • OH MAN I HAVE ONE OF THESE!

Back when I was eight years old, it was my mother, my father, my older brother, and myself. I just saw it again today, awesome!

I think I'm going have walgreens convert it to a DVD for me.

  • Haha this is awesome, I wish they still had something like this, thank you for sharing!

  • Superb! Thanks very much for posting this, I've got one of those Starfleet costumes!

  • jealous dog jealous... I wish they still had this... I miss this and las vegas... your hella lucky... cyl

  • is this thing still around? I wanna go!

  • I loved how when my mother played the Captain when we did this, she flubbed the line and said "not while i'm holding this Photon Torpedo" I had to hold my laughter.

  • that is too cool wow wish they still had that or something similar...hmm maybe we should all let Universal know we want it back...or an updated version :)

  • I remember doing this with my family probably around the same time that sonofmohg did his. My sister and I were sitting up in front and were told to drive the ship, well my sister was pretending that she had a steering wheel, u can see it in the video, it's some funny stuff. Good times.

  • I was at Universal in Orlando in July of 1991 and almost walked right past it! God, I was so thrilled to do that! I think you guys did a great job, mine was pretty wooden. I will have to post mine soon, I'll let ya know!

  • Couldn't believe that this was an attraction at a theme park! Awesome really, a shame it's not operating anymore.

  • how did you convert this from vhs to on your computer? i have one of these too with my family. it was fun! oh my god - fun. i was 10 years old and i thought the director was so hot.

  • You will need to get a VHS to DVD Convertor for your computer, they sell them usually at department stores or you can find a professional. I do this stuff all the time :)

  • I saw this too at Universal during the mid 90s. I wanted to do this but didnt. It had two you could do, ST & your day at Universal. ST was the best one. I remember standing there watching all the people as they came out after doing it & laughing at themselves. I laughed too. Some were hilarious. Some smiled during the turbulence scene. Its hard if you arent an actor to not laugh when you get tickled. I remember a young girl as the captn with her boyfriend as spock & they smiled a lot during it

  • OMG, I wish I could have done one of these! But I wasn't born yet *sniff* So sad, I'll never get to be digitally edited into a video with McCoy. =(

  • Good job none the less.

  • Is this thing still open?

  • does anyone else think that Krall is hot? I'd totally hit that too...

  • i remember that from years ago!

  • rockn!!

  • I did this as well when I was about ten years old. My dad was the Captain, I was the Vulcan, and my younger brother played some third role. He got to say Sulu's line about thinking that Kirk was at Federation headquarters.

    It sure was good fun.

  • You know, for 20 years ago, this wasn't bad at all. In fact my brother did it when we were at Universal (and the dumbass dork didn't even save the video).

But imagine what they could do THESE days.

  • I don't remember this at all

    I guess my family didn't go :[

what a shame---well if it was 1994, yea, we moved...aw

  • I remember doing this with my dad and brother. It was awesome to bad they got rid of it

  • 0-MY-GOD in like 92' my family did this, it was like five of us so only two of us had talking rolls, i was like 5yrs old so u just see me standing there, my mom was the captain and my older brother was the vulcan...my dad and sister and me just chilled in the background, watching it was soooooo freaking hilarious and this just brought back those painful yet hysterical memories haha...wow and those vulcan ears OMG so freakin ridiculous but also hysterical

  • Unbelievable!I went to Orlando in april 1994 and I had the same problem: so I forced my husband to play the vulcan! Of course your performance is much better than mine and your mother is great! I'm from Italy, and all people there was laughing watching the preview! I didn't care at all: I've been trekkie since I was eleven!!!

  • Aaahhhhh the fond memories. I remember doing that way back in the day. Your acting was a hell of a lot better that mine was , I can tell you.

    Thanks for the time travel.

  • OMG, I used to direct these videos! LOL Dang, I think I may have even been there during this one. I have to admit I'm not sure I recall the guest stars, though. I was amazed that I still remembered the script word for word. Ha! Thanks.

  • 4:37..... OMG!!! LMAO!!! This is so corny but it is adorable.

  • Cool. But I kinda still want my 9 minutes back.

  • Pretty good preformances, certainly better than mine back in 1991. This was a fun and truly unique experience in terms of visiting a theme park, where most of your time is spent waiting on an endless line. You got to work one-on-one with a "director" and had no idea of what the end result would look like. A total blast. Thanks for posting and if I ever get the proper equipment, I'll post my Star Trek voyage as well.

  • i want to die now.

  • This was cute. You and your mom did a very good job and I could see you had fun doing it. And, you both were easy to understand. Good job, and it looked like you had fun. Thanks for sharing. :)

  • this wasn't from 1994... Gene Roddenberry would have been dead for 3 years. This was from the late 80's early 90's. Of course you visited that amusement park thingy and had it cut in in 1994...

  • Yes we recorded this in 1994, thus this is from 1994.

  • jesus christ!

  • this was sooooo sweet. you and your mom are so cute. my mom was a trekie and so was i. we had planned a trip to do this. but then she passed away. thanks for the memory. i like to think my mom would do as well as yours. glad you loosened up and had fun. take care and of course: live long and prosper. q w
  • This brings back memories. My mom and her boyfriend (at the time) did this back in '94.

  • for the record: I don't know if SpreadingtheMusde knows this...but Universal Studios Orlando opened in 90'.

  • my wife and I did this video in 1994 too, . this was in orlando fl.

it was very cheap, if you wanted to buy the video it was only 20$ it.

mart the only difference is I said I got the photon from a friend thinking capt.kirk, you said steve some 1 ,was that a friend of yours?

I did a lot of ablibing and adding my own words.

amazing that there was nothing in that room we filmed in all green screen added later. it was so kool to whatch how the end result came out.

  • When we went to universal studios which was many moons ago. My dad did the one where they used guests to play the parts of all the people (klingons and starship crew), they fought with the klingons then these three people showed them to get on with each other, anyone know of this one?! If someone can tell me how to get VHS onto youtube then I will upload it!!

  • that video you are looking for is on here I just saw it

  • What a floppy rug Shatner has on. LOL.

  • yo dude that recording was prob made before dvds were comming knowledge, or you were even born! lol.

  • I worked at Universal during that time. It was fun. So many Star Trekkers came to the park just to do this. You had your choice of this or ride the movies.

  • We did another one called Universal Studios Tour but I havent encoded to to upload yet.

  • Lol, kinda funny.

  • I had to stop this halfway through, it's to cheesy! I hope the new film is not set when kirk and Spock meet because star trek for me is about looking forward not backward.

  • Wow, they HAD THIS back then?

Can anyone tell me more about this?

  • That was cool. I wish they still had something like that. It seemed like a lot of fun.

  • Too bad they don't have this attraction anymore. I would have enjoyed taking part in it. Universal is a pretty good theme park. Unfortunately, beer is sold throughout the park and you can always find some drunk morons roaming through and making noise.

  • so you got to be captain for a day? were the lines long for this? basically i have a giant WTF for this, because ive never seen or heard of this before. Kind of reminds me of the TNG VHS game. that game is actually quite fun, but i think i would do something stupid or something. I love star trek alot but a lot of things would impact my "performance". plus i would not defame the name of william shatner and james T. kirk with my showing.

  • Check out that green screen perfection in the first few minutes.

  • They replaced this with The Flintstones in 1994. What a pack of dumbasses. This was way more fun.

  • I f you're talking about the flinstones ride u are totally wrong. the flinstones ride opened WITH the park. Nothing replaced this attraction except it was turned into a preview for Islands of Adventure. Now the space is used for the Mummy Returns wait line.

  • That cannot be correct. Universal Studios has been around for forty years, but the Flintstones ride was based on the Flintstones movie of 1994, and did not exist in the 80's. I was there and would have seen. Besides, I went to see the Trek ride one day and it was gone, with FLintstones in the exact same spot as trek was.

The mummy returns is on the lower level, next to Jurassic Park, but the Trek ride was up top next to the Knight Rider car.

  • You must be thinking of Universal Studios Hollywood cause I live in Orlando and i worked there.

  • Yes, I am talking Hollywood. The Flintstones adventure was in the same building as the Star Trek Adventure, which was the same building as the Movie Adventure which ran in the 70's and early 80's. Its the stage show where they take people from the audience, dress them in costumes, and make a movie with them in about 20 minutes. The subject of the movie changes every ten years or so, but its always in the same building because thats where the video equipment is.

  • thats probably why. I was talking about Orlando.

  • Your locations are wrong. Trek was on top of the escalator, not the bottom where Mummy Returns is. Flintstones did not open with the park, because that stage attraction was in the exact same building trek used to be in when I visited the park on two seperate occasions. Why would they make a Flintstones attraction if the movie only came out in 1994?

  • The ride was based on ALL of the hanna barbera cartoons. It was in orlando in the place that jimmy neutrons nicktoon blast is in

  • they changed this since the one i saw in 89 or so. Guess its not even there no more at all? or what?

    Neat work.

  • This is utterly charming - your mum did good!

  • damn this is awesome. any true fans dream.

  • wrath of khan plus klingons minus good acting equals this...

  • Lol what crap. I've seen teh exact screenplay before on the bridges and they are repeats. I've seen them do it with other people before. Notice scotty isn't looking at them in the transporter room.

  • BEST acting in a TREK franchise YET! lol And hey, for all the humiliation "Star Wars Kid" has suffered, I hear he's done pretty well :)

  • LOL! I loved this! How awesome! Luucky. You got to command the Enterprise. *so jealous*

  • DUDE! This is cool!

    Wish I could've done it!

  • Wow...I worked there for about a year, around '92 or so. Must have directed about a 1,000 of these. Brings back memories.

  • How much did it cost to do?

  • THis was free. They selected people waiting in line.

  • No this wasn't, there were shows they did this for but this was a keepsake thing they charged for.

  • Well the videotape wasnt free, but watching the show and being in it was. I saw it live in 1989.

  • You are speaking of the show that was at Universal Studios in California I believe. This one was not on a stage, just in a small room with green screen. If you look at the other videos on Youtube you will see that different version.

  • The script was horrible. I know it was all for fun, but Universal could have put a little more thought into it. Even with perfect acting, the dialogue would still sound inane.

How much did this cost, and how much time did it take to film? The Hollywood Universal Studios version has better script and production values.

  • Wow, it's like a lost prequel to Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country! A completely ridiculous prequel, but nonetheless... :-)

Seriously, thanks so much for archiving this neat lost bit of theme park history for everyone to enjoy.

  • I did it a couple of times only the story was completely different. More audience participation. This looks like an earlier version.

  • Wow was that ever terrible...

  • NERDS

  • I heard dat

  • captain klaaa ooh lordi

  • Near the end of Rodenberry's introduction you can see the boom mike!

  • Heh heh that's funny. Nice acting.

  • I also did this and it was soooo worth it. I went back to Universal later on and was so bummed out it was gone because I had remarried and it's hard for me to play it to friends because my ex wife is in it! I also had her two preteen sons in it so the 4 of us were in it together. I mean it is just so cool that it was available, really professionally done the way Universal did it, I thought. I wonder who the audience would think is the worse Captain!

  • KLINGON BASTAAAAAAARDS!!!!!!

  • That was a great video. Just one problem, how could Gene Roddenberry do this if he was dead?Because as far as I know he died in 1991 unless it was a recording thing otherwise great video! :)

  • I believe he died in october 91, so he had almost a year to make those takes...

  • The Klingons are totally over the top... great!

  • Was this replaced by Hercules and Xena? I remember that attraction but not this one.

  • It was replaced by Terminator 2-3D

  • WRONG!!!!!Hercules and Xena replaced a Murder She Wrote attraction and the space the attraction was in is currently empty. Terminator 2-3D is in a WHOLE different building across from the Lucille Ball museum

  • If I had the template footage I could do the green screen stuff myself on my laptop using Adobe Premiere...

But I bet it was pretty impressive 10+ years ago...

  • OMG!! That was awesome!!

You know...as many times as I went to Universal in the 90's I never saw that...wish I had!!

  • Were the actors really there!!! Or were you getting to know the color blue a bit better.

  • Yeah it was all doen blue screen, thats why we had no idea what was going on and were very wooden.. we didn't know any of what was going on at all and just went by the directions of the guy running it.

  • this looks like it was a lot of fun. good show...MOM.

  • no the starwars kid was funny

  • I like it!

  • I used to work at this place. We had one guy who had been in before and came back this time with his own script. He had watched his video a bunch of times and knew every cue.

Unfortunately Screen Test closed years ago and I can't find my videos of this anywhere!

  • Cool! I worked there too. I think it was around 92-93 if memory serves. My boss was a tall slender woman named Suzie. She was a cutie. :)

  • I think she was still there when I started. Must have been `94.

  • that was cool, I only wish I knew about that when I went to Universal Studios. I need to look for it next time. Good job!
