I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

aston martin vartage vs 928 gts is a seriously close match, both will hit just over 171mph and both will hit 60mph in around 5 seconds.

Aston wouldnt have much of a chance of beating the 928.

I would love to see a 0-top speed race in straight line.

You are dumb as shit.. Official specs combined with my dad having rented one out.. I can tell you the V8 Vantage has 380BHP, 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 186.. That performance blows the 928 back to its release date... Lets not embarress the 928 and talk about the sound of the Aston :)

they are horrid car in my opinion, and aston settles for 4.5 to 60mph, as for 186, thats db9 territory and the vantage was meant to be slightly lower, so it settles for 178mph.

928 is such an awsome car and one i admire, yes the vantage has a sound to keep you in heaven, but the 928s grumble from the v8 is enough to send me crazy! such a more 'meaty engine'.

if i could own either, it would be the 928 gt from 1992 :)

i agree on the 380bhp as 928 gt has 335 (gts as shown has 350)

but the aston just feels a bit too much like the girls edition to the aston martin family :L

You've got a point there. In the time we had it hired out we tested some of the facts, we did get it to 60 in 4.4 seconds, with wheelspin... The aston does do 186 easy, we raced the new m3 e92 on a dual carriageway, up to 160, obviously the bmw was limited to 155 but the speed it got there, it was a job keeping up. I know alot of facts about the aston and having seen them in action, i know exactly what im talking about. It's not rapid, but it's surely quick enough.

yeah i wouldnt turn down the offer of the aston by many means!!! its a very nice car, and your lucky to have raced an e92, my dads old 964 turbo had a rave with an esprit turbo gt and got it to 145mph but then i began to feel the 911 was a little hasty at higher end of the table.

i think the aston martin may do 186 if your refering to the N400 which is certianly a pretty car.

if i was to get an aston, i would go back in time for an 1986 vantage :) 181mph cabriolet :) 5.7!

yep the limited edition is the sexiest porkie ive seen yet!! shame theres only 250 of them and they cost £115k a piece :( but wow 10/10 for remaking a legend that is the carrera rs-the greatest 911 classic ever.

the n400 would kill the 928 at the start and keep the lead yes, however for cruising, i would take the 928 it is a smooth sporty tourer! witha 5.8L soundtrack!

Nope, it's not funny to write that this was a race, and no; it wasn't a race. I have overtaklen a Porsche in a Fiat 500, but that sure as hell doesn't mean the Fiat is the faster car. It only means that the driver of the Fiat (a mate of mine), was driving over the speed limit, while the Porsche wasn't.

Actually, the 0-60 for the aston v8 is anywhere from 4.9-5.1, very similar to the 928 gts. However a v12 aston martin, yeah is obviously faster.

I used to work for a large dealership several years ago that carried Porsche, Jaguar, & Aston Martin and used to drive many of the cars on a daily basis.

As beautiful as the AMV8 and all their cars are, they aren't as quick as everyone perceived them to be. The AMV8 Vantage is a 380hp car weighing in at almost 3,500lbs. InsideLine for example ran a 13.3 @ 106.0 on the 1/4.

ok, read the review on the 2007 Vantage. handling is meager, 928 is much better with perfect weight distribution. top speed on Vantage is 175, 0-60 is 4.9. 1987 Porsche 928, top speed 172, 0-60 is 5.5 with 316 horsepower. I would take the 928 any day, pick a nice one up for 10 grand versus 110,000 for the vantage.
