@HitfulVids Ha, I wish that was a nugget! Prospecting in Michigan has alerted me to the fact that large nuggets are incredibly rare. But at least we have lots of pretty rocks. :)
Excellent looking piece of equipment but why are the girls cleaning the rocks out of the grizzley...I thought that they were supposed to separate out automatically from the entry point.
There are two options for the grizzly tines (spacing). Half inch and 1 inch. In the video we have the half inch tines in the header box. I purposely did not put the grizzly at a steep angle so that you could look at the material before you raked it out of the header box (large gold nugget, hopefully). I run the 1 inch grizzly tines for clay. Thanks, good question!
Haha, get those girls some gloves. Their hands will be raw the next day if they do this for any appreciable length of time. Soft hands with water and grit don't mix.
Cool trommel, though. Definitely one of the more interesting designs I've seen. This is exactly what is needed around the King Tut placers to break up that clay... a highbanker alone won't do it.
@Kdees The only option the trommel has is the water wheel. The trommel was designed to work with clay and the feed rate to work with this depends on the consistency and amount of moisture of the material. The header box has an option of either 1 or 1/2in spacing for the grizzly. The rate of feed depends on how quickly the material fits through the grizzly. As seen here it also works through gravel quickly, to the point that it can get ahead of the riffle trays.
@roaringwaterbay Good question. It is the Lost Duchmans Mining Assoc. They are based in Ca. but have property across the country for its members to prospect on. I should have put that in the description. Thanks.
I that 50/50 rock the girls were looking for....I just happened to find it and won. I also won the Guess how many worked the comin dig. See you soon! Grizz
Thanks. Six years time. Two years to cobble together a workable design. Four more years bring it to market. That's three more years then I thought it would take. Very pleased with the result. Thanks again.
I've played with a slick plate on the end of my Highbanker to catch diamonds, but that was just playing. I do not know enough yet to go into that field.
If I could find help like that? I'd be a rich man! Video just makes you want to look for gold! lol!

How can I focus on the trommel with the eye candy in the way. They make waders look sexy. Nice machine though!

What area are you in? State? County?

The video was filmed on LDMA property in Athens, Michigan. I'm not sure what county. We're only seeing glacier dust.
