  • We miss you Barbaro. Thanks for sharing this video. I have also collected some great horse videos in my favorites list.

  • He is (was) the best of all !!!!!!!

  • People can cruelly judge all they want....but he would NEVER have gone to do stud duty. If you had seen his legs he would have never been able to cover a mare.

  • It was a blessing to see this horse race and know he existed. This I know for sure has help doctors help other horse's. He was a champion at the race track and in the veterinary world. Kudos to all the medical staff, who tried to save his life. He will never be forgotten, the horse with a lot of heart.

  • I finally caught this particular episode about Barbaro on HRTV just the other night. I really enjoyed it. I thought the segment that HRTV did about Barbaro's life and career was even more informative than the segment that HBO did on him a few years ago. This horse was mega-talented! If he had lived, and continued to race? I believe a Barbaro vs. Bernardini rivalry would've been one of the biggest rivalry's we would've seen in racing since the Sunday Silence vs. Easy Goer rivalry in 89'. TJMO.

  • i saw the race that awfull day and mr. prado did nothing wrong. you could see the concern on his face. the sadness was everywhere. he loved that horse.

  • To the person who said the jockey was "pushing the horse too hard": Do you know anything about racehorses/racing? BARBARO, even with that HORRIBLE injury, would've continued to run that race, no matter how bad the pain. Thankfully, Edgar knew this horse so well that he knew right away something wasn't right & he pulled up. If Edgar had been thinking of himself, he would've kept on racing the horse & not cared how badly hurt he was. Edgar LOVED Barbaro more than he wanted to win!

  • If you'll look at DR RICHARDSON's face & eyes throughout the interviews, you'll see that he wasn't getting much rest, which is evidence that he gave 110% to save this beautiful horse's life. I do believe that if anyone could've saved BARBARO, Dr. Richardson could have.

  • That rider riding barbaro was pushing him to hard :( we all miss u barbaro

  • @gabbiedoglover11 ..."Pushing the horse too hard"....You don't know what you're talking about. Edgar Prado did nothing wrong; in fact he saved the horse from being put down on the track.

  • @Chidi5310 well idk it was nvm

  • 4 years later today....and I'm still crying :(

  • I cried...

  • He was an Angel and God needed him back. We fought to keep him because we all loved him so much. But ultimately,

he knew God needed his angel back home.So he became depressed because he didn't want to leave us but he knew he had us, and in some form, he will be back.

    We miss you boy :)

    Love you always

  • he was the only horse that even came close to Secretariat

  • as soon as the word laminitis comes to be, there is no cure for that

    i miss him

  • Thank you, but we still miss me!

  • i think the only reason they kept him alive because he won the kentucky derby and because he was so famous and they knew he could be a stud.im not saying that the owners didnt care about him thats is just what i think

  • Most racehorse injuries occure only because People race these horsess at such an unhealthy young age. You should not even be riding a horse until they are ATLEAST 3 , Most are raced at 2. I'm not saying this is exactly why barbaro was injured, But most loose their lives. Its a sad thing. It's also cruel, they shoot them with b-b-guns to get them to go faster. Rest In Peace Barbaro.

  • mann sollte genau so wie ruffian ein film über deses pferd machen

es is einfach eine geschichte die auch den menchen aller welt mitgeteilt werden soll....

    Seabiscuit,ruffian,Babaro 4 ever

  • I hate when people stupidly fight on youtube. One thinks their better than the other. But both are wrong, because its not even worth it. This horse was so beautiful, and you guys have to fight about something stupid.

  • ='( trp triste

    ♥♥

  • I still miss him

  • What a brave boy....I still think about him and how great he was on and off the track. RIP....luv you aways.

  • rest in peace baby. 1/29/08.

  • once u got laminitis u r done!

  • terrorizerr1

shut up. you act like he didn't fight. go learn something about horses before you open your mouth. okay?

  • @hansberrylovesyoux3 18 years working with horses and 7 training them dont let you think i know what im talking about? ....once u got laminitis u r totaly screw! hardly 2 or 3 out of 100 make it alive!

  • thats so sad.

  • i read something on a website that said he was getting much better until he had an absses on one of his legs near the hoof and that's why they put him down...i thought that they would have wnted to wait and see if it healed then he would be alive today. (an opinion(

  • he also had laminitis in his front two feet, so that meant he had it in three legs, left without a leg to stand on......

  • @whitestarline08 No it was one foot...

  • @samablood no, i remember it ery clearly, 3 feet on the day they put him down. check your facts, read a book. :) maybe add alex brown on facebook and talk to him about it :)

  • Great video, thanks for posting. A good look at what was going on medically with America's horse during his long fight for life.

I love the pictures of him eating grass, like it's the best thing in the world. He was an amazing creature in so many ways.

    We miss you boy.............

  • OK, this was one heck of a horse and I truly admire what he achieved during his (far too) short life, but I have to ask, who would want a horse to end up a cripple?? Especially THIS horse?? Had been mine I would have ended it the day of his accident, I know I will be flamed for this, and ALL credit to his owners for trying so hard for him, but at the end of the day was it really worth it?? I KNOW he was comfortable etc, but..... JUST my ever so humble opionion is all OK???

  • i completely understand.... but while it was just the bone, and if they had the money, they did everything they could.... i think i've only ever known one or two horses to get over laminitis

  • WAT?? Do you even know about horses?

  • What made him so special was that "will to live!"

  • I would have to say out of all the race horses, his death was taken the hardest. He wasn't just any horse, he was the Nations horse.

  • @horsecrazy11 him and Seabiscuit

  • Nobody will ever forget Barbaro, he will be in legacy and join Man O' War and Secretariat in history, undefeated but his last ever race. RIP Barbaro, I would double the pain and take it as my own if it would save you. RIP big boy

  • dont we all wish we could..........

  • i cried he was a great horse i think why most race horses die is that the owner trans them to early so their bones are steel week rip to barbaro best race horse EVER!!!

  • I have Barbaro on my desk pad . . . .I watched the memorial on TV and cried with a tear and a smile . . .Thank you for giving me a chance to love Barbaro, Prado and The Jackson's and of course Penn and Dr Richardson

  • awwe this is sad but i like the vid :)

    R.I.P BigB

  • Fantastic- Thank You For Putting This Up. May He R.I.P.,

and Finally, His Full Brother, Nicanor, Has Broken His Maiden by 15, on the Grass!

  • R.I.P Barbaro

  • I remember when Ruffian went down. This is not my favorite sport but I do so appreciate it. My hope is that this will enable additional funding for laminitis research.

  • i love Barbaro with all omy heart and always will!I'd rather it be me that broke my leg rather than him.

  • I if you want the entire story of Barbaro read Edgar Prado's(his Jockey) book, My Guy Barbaro...

    It's amazing!

  • It is a very good read. I feel so bad. I loved him so much. And he did too.

  • what a champion
