This is really remarkable. I live in the States - the Midwest, where these storms happen - but I haven't seen anything this destructive in a long time. It looked as though you were hit by a EF2 or EF3 tornado.

I was on top of Mt Nebo when the sky went black and the storm hit. Thankfully we stopped in what turned out to be a safe place...but 50 metres down the road, trees were uprooted everywhere and it took us three hours to get down the mountain. What we saw when we got to the Gap was shocking to say the least...the worst storm ive ever seen...I then spent another couple of hours on top of our car(in the gap) in the rain sitting near a downed power line so I could warn people coming past...scary..

Na it wasnt a tornado, it was a microburst that produced almost 200km/h winds - the Australian Bureau of Meteorology confirmed it. But im very surprised a Tornado wasnt formed.

i was shitting myself during this and it took us 5 hours to get home because upper kedron ferny grove ferny hills and the gap were all closed off... when we did get home though the whole of down stairs was at least three inchs thick of water and widows had smashed the clothes were ripped off th line everything was just gone.... we got out of school for a few days though =P i had to run around to the neighbors asking if they had a shirt that they didnt have before... lol

i was right near where that guy died believe me if i haddn't been in a shelterd spot (on the roof of the shopping center where the doors open to go inside) and the wind wasn't blowing from behind us i'd have had a hard time. one shopping trolley hit a car hard enough to give it a !big! dint because of the wind.

Hey Calliguy, This was a very severe MICROBURST, and the bureau of meteorolgy doppler radar measured wind velocities of 176 KM/H (~118MPH)

So what exactly was this was this a squall line with a powerful derecho? That wind does not look like 130 km/h look at the damage it should be more like 230 km/h

Hey Caliguy, I'm pretty sure that the most severe damage caused in those clips were caused by a tornado. I don't think a derecho could cause that kind of damage, which looks to be in the F3 range.

Besides that though, I have seen videos of winds in this storm that show winds WELL over 130km/h. My guess is gusts may have reached 190km/h, or 120mph.

my mum was in that white car at 33 seconds happened at the dump in ferny grove at about 4:45 pmher car shook from side 2 side her rear view mirrors smashed and nearly killed by all the trees surrounding her got out without a scratch on her god bless
