@bakerskate0tony The 2000-2004 meetings were during Penn State's dark years, only 2002 was a good PSU year of that bunch, but Iowa was one of the best teams in the nation that year, but still PSU took them to overtime. Also, PSU only lost by 2 in 2004 to Big Ten champion Iowa despite going 4-7 (2-6). Not taking anything away from Iowa, I'm just saying the 2000-2004 wins weren't what they seem. Now the 2008 and 2009 wins were huge, but 2008 is the only one I legitimately consider an upset.
@MVillani1985 yea thts true but still u wudnt think iowa wud be a team to beat penn state this yr or last yr tht jus means tht thy r a good team nd well coached. penn state is really good but i think iowa is better
@bakerskate0tony Well this year, Iowa is certainly better. In 2009, Iowa was the better team overall (won a BCS bowl in a not as close as the score game, almost beat Ohio State in the Horseshoe, and beat a Top-10 team in the road), 2008 it was an upset, and PSU was better overall but didn't take then 5-4 Iowa seriously so it seemed. However, this year, Iowa's definitely gonna be better than PSU. I predict the Big Ten to be between Iowa and Ohio State. PSU, sadly, will likely go 4-8 (1-7) or so.
@MVillani1985 aww penn state 4=8?? imma have to disagree thy always get good recruits nd there backup running back is pretty good. i dont think penn state is gonna be as good as this yr but thy at least go like 8-4 or 7-5
I was at that game with my dad and he wouldn't let me storm the field at the end of the game, which made me sad. He said people were getting trampled, but I didn't really care, I just wanted to be on the field. I wish I could have done that, but it was amazing just being there. Epic win. In more ways than one. Games like that don't come around very often.
i love how the tv broadcasters blamed the student section for prematurely rushing the field after the field goal and causeing the penalty when it was the other side of the field with the dads and their sons that ran on too soon. only about 5 people from the student section went early. I was at the front of the group that rushed the field at the end from this corner and it was possibly one of the best adrenaline rushes ever! great video! can't wait for next year.
There were some students, but you're right, it was mostly the other corners that rushed first. I was at the 10 yd line part of the student section, over by the season ticket holders. My friends and I jumped down to the sidelines right after the field goal.
I've watched every crowd video capture of the end of this game and this is the best one I've seen. I love how that one guy yells a split second before everyone else and then everyone freaks out. Kind of like the side camera view when someone hits a big 3 in basketball.
No national title, but our second Big 10 championship in 4 years. Sadly we're becoming the 90s Buckeyes, always one play away from being undefeated, in 1995 and 1996 they lost to Michigan (who handed Penn State their only loss in 2005), but this year you were our 1998 Michigan State. But beating OSU at the Shoe and finally solving Michigan more than makes up for it. Sure beats the original 8-4 predictions by experts. Good luck against your USC (S Carolina) while we handle our USC.
@bakerskate0tony It was 31-7 only because of goofs by Penn State such as penalties, fumbles, etc. USC kept trying to pile on the points in the second half (calling 41% plays plays, vs 55% in the first half, the only times they didn't call passes were after PSU made it 38-24, realizing they won't pile on touchdowns), but Penn State shut them down and even attempted a good comeback, but USC sealed the deal with an interception of Clark with 4 minutes left, after Penn State had made it 38-24.
Umm...no. We're bowl eligible and really only need to win one of our two remaining games to go to, most likely, the Outback Bowl as Big Ten #4.
Just like you were 1 point away from most likely going to the national championship game, we have been a total of 12 points away from an undefeated season. Don't worry, we know exactly how you feel.
god damn that was a great game....glad i was able to witness it in person......heres to a great 2010 season...lets go hawks!!!
