I remember walking into the Euro shop down in Waco a few years back and talking with your dad about you. Glad to see you out racing! Needless to say, he way undersold how fast you are!
@speedyg69 Got smoked? I started from the back of the grid in both 600 races I entered, and finished second in both of them. I'm on an R6 with an engine that has little to no work done to it, and I've only ridden it a handful of times.
Also, I won the C SBK race on the R6 at ECR from the back of the grid. ;)
Nice ride, the Pierobon should be putting out 12-18lbs more tourqe than the 600's and should make a clean 100bhp. The tourqe advantage is huge. The lighter weight is a great advantage in the turns. The rider definitely rode well, but putting that bike against 600's is not fair to either class rider in terms of honest performance of the rider.
You should know better than that. Yes, the bike is lighter and makes more torque than a 600. BUT, it's still an AIR COOLED TWIN in a SUPERBIKE 600 class. AND, I started at the very back of the grid! It's not my problem that most of the bikes out there are superstock 600's racing up a class. Also, I didn't even do what I think should be a good 600 lap time. All of these guys got out-ridden, period. To say that it's not fair is a load of bullshit and you know it.
@x481x Ryan, I think you are cheating yourself on the way you are seeing this. The fact is that spec engine makes about 20lbs more tourque than a 600, and does make in excess of 100bhp. You rode great...it wouldn't matter if you were on a GSXR-750 or that bike, it was a good ride. I am surprised that you are insinuating that the bike is "inferior" to the other bikes, it is definitely not the case, in fact quite the opposite. As a talented ex-AMA Pro Rider, I would expect you to ride as you did.
@marcusmcbain I'm not insinuating anything. It's up to others to decide whether or not they think the bike is inferior/better/etc. The fact is, it's a 600 SBK class, and I'm riding an air cooled twin that has a decent chassis. Like I said before, I don't think that I even did what I would consider to be a good 600 lap time. Therefore, they got out ridden, from the back of the grid. I think on a 600 SBK, I could go at least 2.5 seconds faster than I did on the F042. Cheating myself? Lol!
@marcusmcbain It's pretty obvious here that it's not the bike but it's a cheater rider situation. That dude could win from the back of the grid on a Big Wheel going backwards while masturbating. Well, he did get third place in C Superbike Expert from the literal back of the entire grid on a bone stock R6 at Cresson last time.
@marcusmcbain Well, I won the C SBK race from the back of the grid on an R6 with a stock engine last weekend. Also, the bike was losing power the entire time due to a charging issue and barely made it back to the pits after the race was over. Would you consider that fair Marcus?
@flattopwill The engine is 1123cc's, BUT it's an air cooled-two valve twin. I'm down 25-30hp on the 600's that I was racing against. The reason it looks fast in the straights is because I was carrying A LOT more corner speed and passing them exiting the turns. ( Utilizing the torque advantage I have )
Once I'm in the lead, watch how close the guy in second stays to me in the faster parts of the track. Then we get to the tighter sections and I immediately gap him. :)
down 25-30 hp compared to what? I know your a damn good rider but that bike is still damn fast. horsepower may get all the glory but torque does all the work.
@x481x I didn't know there were any bikes built that hot in the CMRA. I honestly thought my 125-130ish hp 675 was pretty up there for a middle weight. I don't know the actual number because I tune with bazzaz on the track. Not that any of that extra power helps when I get ran around on the outside in turn one.
Dude you are ridiculously fast!

So McBrain, by your logic, a superbike 1000 4 cylinder with 60 more hp would be unfair against the air cooled twin....right?

Nice, very nice Ryan. I wonder what the investment of a gyro cam would be? Some of the footage was of the Texas blue sky or, reposition the GoPRO.

It's roughly a 1000, but an aircooled twin. And has better cornerspeed, which is NOT a hallmark of a 1000 against a 600

Not to take away from the rider but uh, that thing looks like a 1000 racing against 600s in the straights.

@tripletrash Down 25-30hp compared to a 135-140hp 600.
And yes, it's pretty fast for an air cooled bike. :)
