This is a Red Bellied Woodpecker (Notice the white and black barring on the back), not a Red Headed Woodpecker.
It is also a male because the red part of its head extends all the way to the front (eyes and beak) in contrast with the females which stops about halfway...
Gees. That's a nice house, too. I'd get a fully-automatic airsoft gun and shoot at it if I were him. Not saying he'd have to hit it, but to scare the thing away so it won't keep destroying his home would be a good idea.

This woodpecker is eating something in the wood. They peck then try to peel back the "bark" to get the larvae or bugs underneath.
