Waters of March touched my soul in a way few things have ever. Her version of that song is magical. She was an amazing woman, from her career before music leading her to music, and even her passing. This woman burned brightly.
Thanks for posting this. I have never seen video of her before. Sadly, I only found her through through stories of her death. R.I.P Sussanah, you are at peace now.
Such an intelligent vocalist. She instinctiviely knew when to impart the perfect shading to a word, a phrase, that nails the writer's intent. Listen to "Thanks For The Memory." Her reading is flawless and, to me, upon hearing Susannah's version the lyric is transported to it's true expression of a love that once was and the warmth that still attends that love. I picure it as a letter that has been written...
According to what I have read, she was not taking her anti-depression medication and with the recent loss of her contract with Concord Recording and her job at the "Oak Room" at the Algonquin hotel in NY it all becane too much for her.
Susannah McCorkle was fabulous. As Antonio Carlos Jobim is my favorite composer, I was particularly drawn to her wonderful bilingual recordings on her album Sabia. Her mother lived across the street from my tennis club here in Berkeley and she said Waters of March/Aguas de Marco by Jobim was Susannahs favorite song to perform as it filled her with happiness.
Thanks for posting this! There needs to be more of her videos available.
I was lucky enough to see her on two separate nights at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle back in the late 90's. On the second night she autographed the photo of her & me from the first night. And she sang my request, "The People You Never Get to Love" at the beginning of her second set, and dedicated it to me. She sounded even more beautiful in person.
I was devastated when I heard of her passing. Such a loss.
I would assume some company is having her videos pulled from youtube? I mean, shouldnt there be at least a few more, for someone having been so famous?
I discovered Susannah listening to a special memorial "Fresh Air" with Terry Gross. So I was broken hearted from the start. I've been in touch with Dan DiNicola, her ex-husband and friend, who said video of Susannah in concert does, indeed, exist. I hope one day he will publish it. Until then, thanks for posting this video, warbles and all!
Susannah was my VERY favorite vocalist. I have all her recordings, and I was so very saddened when she died so tragically and so unexpectedly. Her diction, phrasing and sense of emotion was second only to Billie (her main influence). Thanks for posting.
thanks so much for posting this! haven't ever seen live footage of her, so this is a treasure. i'm reading her bio right now..check it out..."Haunted Heart" by Linda Dahl.
Thank you for uploading this. I saw her perform two nights in a row back in '87 or '88, and just loved her voice and her persona. What a remarkable woman and, what a loss.
When did she die? I never heard about this.

I just discovered Susannah McCorkle because I wanted The Waters of March...
It is a real pity that she is no longer with us...She has inspired me to start singing again...A very special soul.

Thanks for posting this video.
I met her only once after a performance that she did in Philadelphia at the then Hershey Hotel. A marvelous performance and a totally gracious woman.
She is missed.

I saw Susannah perform in the Oak Room at the Algonquin in New York just weeks before her death.
We spoke with her and she seemed in good spirits and sound mind.
Her death was tragic indeed.
