Games with good graphics make a great first impression. Games with good gameplay make a great lasting impression. Both graphics and gameplay can be very important in a game. Don't shun graphics, because they can do more to improve the gaming experience than you'd think. Of course that's not to say that having good gameplay is pointless, nobody would want a game that's frustrating to play, then graphics wouldn't do a thing.

Is this game just like europa universals III? If so, does it have annoying things in it like your troops dying off if you got too many troops in a region? or having to have ridiculously huge armies just to win a war, in which most just die before any combat because of troop number limits in a region?

@boyrichboy On average, i would need something like 60 000 troops (often more infact) just to take one region. I also found myself unable to really spread troops out either to avoid the limits, because if I did, then when I send in one army to attack, they would be dead before help arrives

And during battle, they not only die from being killed in battle, but they would also die from region limits, which was very annoying, and making wars very time consuming. It gets like this mid-late game.

Maybe it's just me, but as much as I've tried, I simply haven't been able get into HOI3. I've barely touched it since late last year. Conversely, I absolutely loved HOI2 and played it to death for a period of about 3 years.

Huge fan of HOI2, but so far I've passed on this installment. Glitches and gameplay have been said to be less than stellar. You also often get retarded scenarios like Japan somehow invading England. I like "what if" as much as the next guy, but jesus christ.... The only thing I like about HOI3 is the new map; it looks pretty nice. Not enough to get my money though.

Um I think you should make divisions instead of brigade attachements. Probably when your in production screen you click brigade attachement. Click Division instead to produce a division filled with various brigades. This happened to me I accidently produced 30 brigades = around 90,000 troops. I meant to produce 30 divisions which would have been = 300,000!

@silentscope056 You need to create a HQ brigade from an infantry one to set up army commands (XX is a corps, XXX is army group, XXXX is a regional command, XXXXX is a front command etc)

you can play as any country that existed before the war started, so yes you can play as sweden. But they were neutral during the whole war, try playing as finland or norway instead

Besides, the graphics in Hearts of Iron 3 are very beautiful, even though their are hand-painted instead of 3d rendered. u have to have like 2 troops in two def territories. they are both adjacent to an enemy territory. u click one and hit 'support attack' and the other attack. if they win, the one u hit attack with will advance while the other stays put. the only way to 'kill' an enemy army is to surrond it (in ur territory) or drop its strength to zero (bombing attacks)

in the second one? its simple. Go to the game editor type thing/ exe in the game folder.

Then you hit browse- then open the date/map you want to edit. Then hit load. Then you should be able to navigate to a "playable nations" list or something. You should be able to get it there.

just PM me if you have more questions. Click on your unit when its in a territory that has a port in it with a transport flotilla vessel thing. Then there is a soldier icon with an arrow pointing from it to a ship. It should be in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

My favorite HOI 2 nation. The army is large but poorly equipped, the navy and airforce will never be as good as the British, still you need to capture Giblartar or a land supply road to Africa before the US enters war and destroyes all of your convoys. Its a challange.
