  • 0:03 uhh... sorry to burst ur bubble but there actually DVDs

  • @actionvideostudios No Shit Sherlock I dont think anyone cares

  • @azanic2 u just come out of prison bro? its a joke... lighten up... seriously....

  • in order to recicle a cd,you use a lot of good wood, that doesnt make much sense to me.

  • @APOCALIPSISDEPOLLA hay dude you must be dimmer than the switch, at least this guy is inventive

  • @MrGlendragon im not saying is a bad idea,i just think there are other things to do with old cd,and doesnt involve using wood, for me is more important save the trees.

for that proyect he is using a lot of electricity and wood, that doesnt helpe the enviroment that much.

  • @APOCALIPSISDEPOLLA now thats a fare coment about the enviroment and working with wood, even if he uses scrap wood then electric and time used would still not make it worth doing. still a good idia for bord people. maybe your not dimmer than the switch after all

  • @APOCALIPSISDEPOLLA when nerds met hippies, you were born.

  • @chrisryan749 i like that definition so much ,thanks :)

  • nice idea. maybe you could obtain a better finish if you drilled only the wood with countersunk holes to accomodate the screw heads, and simply fix the CD with double sided tape, easy to remove just in case, and no screws appearing to ruin the shiny finish of the CD.

  • Why you yell Dr. House

  • it work with dvd too, ? :) jk

nice idea, i ha the same idea for the light switch at my house when i was a kid,,

only different ur used CD, and i used LP... lol

  • @stevinmarin Classy, light hearted response. Well done. :)

  • you can throw the cds at people

  • I loved your machine.

  • this guys epic. xD Lots of work, but it truely looks nice. ofcourse, the shiny chrome finish means ima hafta wipe it every time to keep paw marks off it. xD

    "when I was a boy!"

  • dude are you serious your a nutjob broski

  • that BIT ;)

  • the one you used is not a cd its a dvd-r i can tell by the color

  • "That part is a little bit tricky". 1sec later.. "There we go" xDDDD

    Thumbs Up!

  • Nice way of making circuls

  • Very awesome now take it a step further

Use the laser light-scribe burner on a new disc to put a very nice image on the disc.

since it will look like a "crystal print" it will go extremely well.

  • you sound pretty much enthusiasticand i like you´re thinking of diy

  • remember when aol used to send all those cds?

    no.

yeah, i remember that too guys!

  • You remind me of House.

  • Subscribed.

Man You got nice ideas, You're a genius :)

  • DISCO BAWL + MIRROR!

  • So, are records and 8-tracks the media of the future?

  • wait.. back when you were a boy? dude, you look like you had cassette tapes when you were young

  • Great idea.

  • man you're a legend I'm so glad I found this channel man you have all the tricks for everything!

  • @jonslashtroy haha...well, a couple more tricks coming in two weeks.

  • If Jesus wants to sit on a thrown, I think you should be the one to build it! Great videos!

  • @brandontproductions Build it from an elacstic band and a couple of paperclips :P

  • We once took all the AOL cd's and attempted to hit things from moving vehicles with them. Ahh to be young and stupid again. This is a much better use of old cd's.

  • I just have a question. Im not being a smarty either but, Since you work with wood alot, Do you get used to splinters after awhile? I ask this because I just started working with wood a week or 2 ago. I've already gotten over 20 splinters. T-T

  • your not even wearing safety glasses when your using the router.. are you stupid

  • Man your smart, i admire you!

  • I was just talking with somebody about how the more digital music gets the more they cut off the peaks on the sound waves. Now if they hear an analog recording all those overtones and undertones just freak them out.

  • @EdgarDirby I like The Undertones especially their album Positive Touch I've never heard of the Overtones though!

  • use an old cd to make a cd holder

  • ok house,

  • @szricsi80 Uh...I didn't say it was "green". I recycled a CD: Gave it another use.

  • @szricsi80

Recycling them would take just as much energy, and throwing them away would just end up in them being in a landfill or in the ocean, depending on where you live.

its a good idea. and wood is entirely replaceable, but plastic isn't.

  • @szricsi80 If you look at it that way then any creativity can be called a waste of energy as well. CD's can be used as miniature frisbees as well, justdon't toss them vertically into the air and let them land on a hard surface. They shatter really easy and the parts fly quite the distance!

  • wow so missunderstood.. :(

I am for all the green stuffs! and I like this guys creativiti as hell! He is doing really nice stuffs, I was just upset that even he couldnt find a really good way to use our shit cd's! I mean I tried to rapid them on my table under a nice glass.. thing.. so it was good untill I had to use strong light.. coz the made me blind .. all the shine pieces... So I just want tto tell there is some ways to use them, but I am on the hunt to find a really good way!

  • @szricsi80

    oh have a fucking whinge!

  • @szricsi80 wat a major asshole. suck a dick bitch face.!

  • you dont look like house here

  • Hi Steve,

Why not use the router bit to drill the hole in the centre of your hardboartd base, after you secure it to the router? That way it's gonna be concentric, like.. in the middle-diddle?

    :)...

    Thanks buddy

    Woodrow Lister

  • Hey thts a cool project... I made a CD Clock using CDs... Check it out bro...

  • @Siriron34 I'm just curius. What inspires a person to take the time to post a comment like this? I mean really...if it were funny, or made some sense, that would be one thing. But this just puzzles me.

  • @stevinmarin i laughed

  • @stevinmarin

    Puzzles me too. WTF?

  • @stevinmarin

Steve, you're a woodworking god. Thanks for all of your videos, I eagerly look forward to new releases and check your site daily.

Admittedly, I laughed at the butthole comment... lol.

  • @stevinmarin They do it because people like you respond.

  • @stevinmarin To be further entertained, this "person" joined, favorited 111 videos, made this comment on your video all in one day. And has never logged back in since that day last year. He has 2 subscribers and 1 friend (who threatened his friends.)

Maybe he was off his meds that day.... or was he going through the, *change* of life....?

  • @Maxid1 or maybe he died. or didn't cared anymore.

  • great... and very well explained !!!

  • Awesome!

  • i have dish network too

  • things I done with old cd's:

used yarn and wrapped around it, made a coaster.

glue two top sides together and tie a few with string and made a sun catcher.

  • I had it brought to my attention that I misprounced "Marin". I apologize. You think that's bad, here in southern Indiana, you should hear how we prounce Louisville!

  • Haha...yeah, the accent in Marin is on the second syllable.

My family is originally from S. Indiana! Two towns: French Lick and Paoli. I seem to recall my dad telling me Louisville is pronounced something like "Lewvul".

  • You could make the CD fit a lot better by offsetting the pin inward half the diameter of your router bit, so for a quarter inch bit you would move the pin towards the center of your intended circle an eigth of an inch. that way when you rout out the circle, the cd will fit just inside the recess. :)

  • Cool. I am going to do this with an old hard-drive plate as a DIY type mirror for my wife :)

    Cheers,

    Tim

  • why not use your lathe instead of your router? :) it would have been a lot easier.

  • nice idea

  • ha.... funny it looks like a shower turn on....good stuff

  • Steve! What a neat idea! If you hang old CDs from the rafters in the grainary, they'll scare the birds away. PS. Your fingers were to close to the blade for SAFETY!!! :-)

  • awesome!

  • Go old school cut them into squares with band saw or tin snips and make a disco ball !! lol

  • "And of course the CD already has its own hole made!" lol best part

  • Make a clock - buy clockworks at your local craft store, the CD has a readymade hole in the center! That's the best Idea I could come up with "Googling" for a few minutes.......LOL

  • @sparkiekosten

    Great idea!

  • @sparkiekosten what do you mean with "come up with" if you googled it...

it's a pretty popular thing actually...

  • @offwithurhead Just because you're not first with something does not mean that you cannot "come up" with it as well! You simply cannot have come up with it first is all.

  • Cool!
