i love this movie! i have the dvd but i didn't get to see the actual performance :'( i kept feeling like he was going to pull out his sonic screwdriver at any moment!
"Lately, I couldn't be bothered to do anything but I don't know why. I hardly ever move. I feel so depressed that the whole world seems lifeless. The air, the sky, this pretty ceiling is just filthy, contaminated sludge to me."
i, unfortunately, do not live in the UK and i rlly want to see this since i am a Shakespeare and David Tennant fan. could someone plz upload the whole movie? i would rlly appreciate it.
it would be hard becasue the whole thing was 3 hours long, so to put that into 10 minute youtube videos would be a nightmare. try going to the BBC iplayer adngetting it up on there?
i wanna just keep listening to this over and over because it sounds so amazing! the emotion he puts into it just makes it so captivating!! i can't wait to see it!
SAME! I am so excited that he's doing hamlet as I'm studying it at school and would rather watch David Tennant as Hamlet than Kenneth Branagh in the dvd the school's got. Can't wait til it comes out on dvd.
Watch the Curse of the Fatal Death. It's a spoof which has Rowan Atkinson, Richard E Grant, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant and Joanna Lumley as the Doctor.
It's so wonderful that Shakespeare is brought alive like this, by such a talented actor. If we want to get children into it, then surely this is the way.
his voice is so smooth and soft and intense...he speaks exactly as i imagined hamlet to talk...more reason to love David!! why can't he come visit us in the u.s of a!? we won't keep him!...long lol!
Brilliant. Its funny because he's said he's forgotten how he talks like the Doctor because he's been doing Hamlet too long lol. Better get the DVDs ot Doc!
I so hope that the RSC will eventually see sense and make a DVD of this, otherwise this may be the only real memory we have of David's wonderful performance.
It's been conformed that they didn't make a reccording of any of the live performances he did, apart from a 'single camera' recording for some archieve or something :(
Shows are filmed all the time, and often released on DVD. Have you never seen a "live" performance of something, say an opera, screened on TV (often with subtitles)?
Not sure if it's been confirmed officially by the RSC yet, but a week ago or so Oliver Ford Davies (who played Polonius) said that there will be a DVD, production probably taking place this summer. I don't think he'd say something like that if he wasn't sure about it *shrugs*
That would be so great - I'd love to see David as Hamlet again (I was one of the lucky ones who had a ticket for the last week of the run in London, when he actually could perform again - absolutely f***ing brilliant!)
Indeed, it's just been announced that they're making a 3 hour film of Hamlet with David Tennant and Patrick Stewart for BBC Two and then releasing it on DVD after that.
It just sucks for me that my Hamlet exam is next Wednesday so I'm stuck with the kenneth branagh version......still, it's better than actually reading it...........
I know it's disappointing that he isn't going to be in it. I would have been very disappointed if it had been when I went back in August, however, we want Mr Tennant fit and healthy so needs must. Besides, the whole cast is great and the guy who has taken over is suppose to be really good.
Mine too!! When we studied it last year, I got a little teary eyed the first time I read it...because I'm a dork that way haha. I feel your pain, i live in Canada, and there is just NO WAY lol. I hope they make a dvd. Not only because I love Tennant, but because hamlet is such an amazing play!
As much as I would love to watch David in action I fear I would spend too much time trying to figure out what the heck he's saying. Hamlett ain't my strong suit.
argh!! it doesnt include the bit after where hamlet says what piece of work is a man:P i LOVE this play. so gutted i cudnt see it with tennant and stewart:(
This is soo fantastic, I wish there were more quotes from Hamlet, especialy the first soliliquiy I have been priviledged to see this great man 4 times now as Hamlet,he is just the best actor ever.
'foul and pestilent congregation of vapors".....i love shakespeare....hamlet especially.....and david tennant.....and ummmm.... i wish there was more of this......
David's Hamlet is positively brilliant. I thank my lucky stars that I was able to make the trip to England and see it twice. Once would not have been enough--in fact, twice wasn't enough either, but I must content myself with that. This brings back lovely memories! Thanks for posting it.
I love David Tennant..but I'm not particularly impressed with this. He's taking way too many pauses, he's making it too precious. The lines of blank verse are complete thoughts, you don't pause in the middle of a complete thought. Oh well...maybe this isn't the final product.
I thought that too, when I listened to this before I went to see it. But when I saw it in context, it worked much better. And of course this was recorded quite early on - I think he's developed as the play has gone on.
SOOOOOO smexy!!! Gorgeous voice, wonderful rendition. I would give anything, yes, ANYTHING to see him perform live!!! ESPECIALLY Shakespeare. I've kinda gotten into it lately. That and Sherlock Holmes.
I have never hated the Atlantic as much as I do right now. Why oh why can't they throw us bone over here in the States and release recordings of the production. *whimper*
omg he's so AMAZING!! *swoon*

THE 5TH TO THE 10TH.
That's official! Although it will be 'confirmed' on the 3rd, because it depends on his progress. Obviously, he should be fit to perform.
I have tickets for the 7th... so fingers crossed!
