  • Kenneth .B. make way for David .T. ! I Loved Kenneth in Hamlet, for years he was the best, but come on it's David try and top that! :)

  • David Tennant is my Hamlet. I love you, David Tennant.

  • brilliant sounds

  • This is now out on DVD and is, to my mind, one of the best portrail's of Hamlet ever. Don't bother with the Mel Gibson version.

  • you know I wish I were clever enough to uderstand a word from what he is saying...

  • @littlegirltimelord. He's saying he's depressed and can't take pleasure in anything.

  • "Lately, I couldn't be bothered to do anything but I don't know why. I hardly ever move. I feel so depressed that the whole world seems lifeless. The air, the sky, this pretty ceiling is just filthy, contaminated sludge to me."

  • i, unfortunately, do not live in the UK and i rlly want to see this since i am a Shakespeare and David Tennant fan. could someone plz upload the whole movie? i would rlly appreciate it.

  • it would be hard becasue the whole thing was 3 hours long, so to put that into 10 minute youtube videos would be a nightmare. try going to the BBC iplayer adngetting it up on there?

  • could somebody upload the whole film please? I'm dying to see it!!!

  • Oooh I loooovvvveee him. And I'm so sad he's not the Doctor anymore...but that means he'll get to do more of this! :D

  • i wanna just keep listening to this over and over because it sounds so amazing! the emotion he puts into it just makes it so captivating!! i can't wait to see it!

  • so ...?

  • @FireflyFanatic3 He is just too perfect :D

  • no i was talking to amebchen ... he said "I hate him"

    i'm thinking ... who cares? he's great!!

  • He is quiet possibly the most amazing actor alive.

  • If he had CDs where he read all Shakespeare's plays, I would listen to them so often I'd have the plays memorized.

  • SAME! I am so excited that he's doing hamlet as I'm studying it at school and would rather watch David Tennant as Hamlet than Kenneth Branagh in the dvd the school's got. Can't wait til it comes out on dvd.

  • IMdb says it's gonna be on TV. Hoping!!! :D

  • Yup! It will be. BBC is going to air it around Christmas...Christmas day I believe. PBS will air it later on in 2010. = D

  • Wihi! =D

  • Boxing Day.

  • like PBS in america is gonna air it! NO WAY!!! lol, i'm excited! do you know when?

  • He was amazing in Hamlet, went to see him :)

  • withnail=win

  • David Tennant + Shakespeare

I think I'm going to explode from joy.

  • Bravo. They need to put it on DVD

  • @DestyOnline as you probably know they did.

  • @DestyOnline they have :L

  • richard e grant is better

  • True. He wan't that bad as the Doctor either.

  • NO richard e grant says these lines at end of the withnail and i, funny thing paul mcgann who was in withnail and i was a doctor who

  • Watch the Curse of the Fatal Death. It's a spoof which has Rowan Atkinson, Richard E Grant, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant and Joanna Lumley as the Doctor.

    Writen by Steven Moffat.

    And awesome.

  • oh paul mcgann and richard e grant played the doctor ,interesting!

  • Wrong.

He was FANTASTIC as the Doctor. =)

  • Beautiful...

  • It's so wonderful that Shakespeare is brought alive like this, by such a talented actor. If we want to get children into it, then surely this is the way.

  • his voice is so smooth and soft and intense...he speaks exactly as i imagined hamlet to talk...more reason to love David!! why can't he come visit us in the u.s of a!? we won't keep him!...long lol!

  • no! we are keeping him !

  • smart and sexy

  • always a winning combination, wonderful david tennant !

  • I wish I could see him do Macbeth! He'd be great!

  • By the sounds of it .. it will be on bbc 2.. and lets hope on youtube lol

  • He is so amazing eh?

I would love a dvd of his Hamlet.

  • I love his voice

  • He is an amazing Hamlet!

  • nice one

  • Woohoo! They are going to film his version!

  • Thanks for the memories - will we ever see a picture of the red t shirt?

  • Brilliant. Its funny because he's said he's forgotten how he talks like the Doctor because he's been doing Hamlet too long lol. Better get the DVDs ot Doc!

  • I so hope that the RSC will eventually see sense and make a DVD of this, otherwise this may be the only real memory we have of David's wonderful performance.

  • It's been conformed that they didn't make a reccording of any of the live performances he did, apart from a 'single camera' recording for some archieve or something :(

  • dont be daft!

  • How Rude!!

  • Actually there is a strong online petition going that has has over 5,000 sigatures for the RSC to make a proper recording.

  • Shows are filmed all the time, and often released on DVD. Have you never seen a "live" performance of something, say an opera, screened on TV (often with subtitles)?

  • Not sure if it's been confirmed officially by the RSC yet, but a week ago or so Oliver Ford Davies (who played Polonius) said that there will be a DVD, production probably taking place this summer. I don't think he'd say something like that if he wasn't sure about it *shrugs*

That would be so great - I'd love to see David as Hamlet again (I was one of the lucky ones who had a ticket for the last week of the run in London, when he actually could perform again - absolutely f***ing brilliant!)

  • Indeed, it's just been announced that they're making a 3 hour film of Hamlet with David Tennant and Patrick Stewart for BBC Two and then releasing it on DVD after that.

It just sucks for me that my Hamlet exam is next Wednesday so I'm stuck with the kenneth branagh version......still, it's better than actually reading it...........

  • So they really are doing that?? Before i wasn't interested, but this clip is goooood!

  • ahhh i just LOVE his voice!!! i wish that i could've seen this...

  • I wish I lived over there so I could go see him on stage!! :(

  • I Went To See Hamlet On The 10th ! It Was Amazing ! =D

  • I love Hamlet, one of Shakespeares greatest plays, and David does it justice, he really does, such clarity, I envie anyone who when and saw him.

  • i saw him on the 5th he was fantastic !! and very cute :)

  • I was there on 3rd January! He was amazing!

    Lucky me!!!

  • @Scarabaeus37 Hey! That's my mom's birthday!!!

  • dammit, i had tickets for the 2nd, i saw edward bennet instead. he was good but no match for dt im sure. AW I LOVE HIM! XxxX

  • lol i think hes cute hes yummy mmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • I got a letter from The RSC; he's supposed be returning for the last part of the run!

    THE 5TH TO THE 10TH.

That's official! Although it will be 'confirmed' on the 3rd, because it depends on his progress. Obviously, he should be fit to perform.

I have tickets for the 7th... so fingers crossed!

  • majestical roof ha!

  • I'm going to see it Dec. 31 sad that David's not going to be there though.

  • I know it's disappointing that he isn't going to be in it. I would have been very disappointed if it had been when I went back in August, however, we want Mr Tennant fit and healthy so needs must. Besides, the whole cast is great and the guy who has taken over is suppose to be really good.

Here is wishing David a speedy recovery.

  • I'm seeing Hamlet tomorrow, but now I'm not going to see him as he's not in it because of his back problem! I'm soooo disappointed!!!

  • Is it true? I have ticket for Friday, I've been waiting six months! How did you find out?

  • We're doing Hamlet in my literature class, and 'What a peice of work is man' is one of my favorite monologues. I wish I could go see Tennant do it.

  • Mine too!! When we studied it last year, I got a little teary eyed the first time I read it...because I'm a dork that way haha. I feel your pain, i live in Canada, and there is just NO WAY lol. I hope they make a dvd. Not only because I love Tennant, but because hamlet is such an amazing play!

  • Yeah, for those who couldn't make it, I really, really hope they put this one on DVD for us.

While they're at it, they could do the same thing with Love's Labour Lost...

  • This works so well in the play it is beautiful and so is David and I'm going again on the 27th December xx

  • Going tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • As much as I would love to watch David in action I fear I would spend too much time trying to figure out what the heck he's saying. Hamlett ain't my strong suit.

  • I said it once, and I will say it again: David Tennant-you're voice is very beautiful! (:

  • it works well in the play when you see it ... but it is a bit different

  • argh!! it doesnt include the bit after where hamlet says what piece of work is a man:P i LOVE this play. so gutted i cudnt see it with tennant and stewart:(

  • WITHNAIL!

  • foul and pestilent congregation of vapours....haha i dont know why that is funny

  • This is soo fantastic, I wish there were more quotes from Hamlet, especialy the first soliliquiy I have been priviledged to see this great man 4 times now as Hamlet,he is just the best actor ever.

  • 'foul and pestilent congregation of vapors".....i love shakespeare....hamlet especially.....and david tennant.....and ummmm.... i wish there was more of this......

  • With Patrick Stewart playing the ghost of his father on stage, two great voices booming out, that should blow the audience away!

  • two phenomenally awesome actors with phenomenal accents!!!! GAWD!!!!!!!

  • David's Hamlet is positively brilliant. I thank my lucky stars that I was able to make the trip to England and see it twice. Once would not have been enough--in fact, twice wasn't enough either, but I must content myself with that. This brings back lovely memories! Thanks for posting it.

  • I love David Tennant..but I'm not particularly impressed with this. He's taking way too many pauses, he's making it too precious. The lines of blank verse are complete thoughts, you don't pause in the middle of a complete thought. Oh well...maybe this isn't the final product.

  • I agree with you!

  • I thought that too, when I listened to this before I went to see it. But when I saw it in context, it worked much better. And of course this was recorded quite early on - I think he's developed as the play has gone on.

  • SOOOOOO smexy!!! Gorgeous voice, wonderful rendition. I would give anything, yes, ANYTHING to see him perform live!!! ESPECIALLY Shakespeare. I've kinda gotten into it lately. That and Sherlock Holmes.

    I <3 <3 <3 DAVID TENNANT!!!!!

  • I have never hated the Atlantic as much as I do right now. Why oh why can't they throw us bone over here in the States and release recordings of the production. *whimper*

  • That's great! Thanks for posting! Love it. x

  • *giggles*

sooooooooo good. and adorable. but....he does Hamlet quite well. :D

  • anybody know if the Royal Shakespeare Company sells DVDs of their productions? Oh, man I'm on the wrong side of the pond!

  • Wish I could see him do this live! His voice is amazing!

  • i do love that man

  • God dammit!!!!!!

    *****swoons*****

Scottish boy does The Dane with posh English accent. Go figure.

    Thanks for posting this again.

  • This vid isn't new - I made a fault in my channel and the old vid was gone - here is it again!

    Enjoy!
