this fight pissed me off so much! the way i did it was i waited for him to attack, threw the cross when he attacked, destroying his fireballs, then i whip him in the head before he disappears. then i grabbed the fire bottles when he turns into the demon thing, and just rapidly threw them at him and whipped him. it only took me about 80 tries!

Just stand right in front of dracula, when he opens his cape, jump, avoiding the fireballs and whipping his head in midair. This is the easiest way but it has the danger of em teleporting right onto you which is very annoying.
oh..and u just have to time his appearances, get witihin whips length, then jump when he opens his cape--therby jumping over the initial cluster of fireballs....

Yes you can most definitely beat the game with a cross,but its far easier with holy water spam.
You also kind of want to kill dracula as fast as possible,because he will corner you and he takes off 4 bars of life for each time he hits you,and his fireballs also do a lot of damage.

Also the crows seem to hate me, in fact, all the enemies seem to hate me! Maybe because I killed them so many times!! I beat it on one sitting though, no problem, just dont take my holy water level 3 from me!
@villegolas For me,its those fucking medusa heads in the hall of pain and their fucking random curve.
Another thing i noticed:If an enemy goes behind you,your character auto changes directions causing you to get a hit from the axe.I don't know why the hell this happens,but i took a hit from the axe from the axe knight because my character changed directions to attack something behind him without me pressing right.

theres a thing in the last level in rondo of blood except where the lamps are you destroy them and go back and theres stairs so you get the one weapon that makes it easy to defeat him!!!
If you use the special weapon on the candles gain up hearts by going up and down the stairs you get a double or triple shot. You must hit 10 candles in a row. Keep it simple. Simplicity is the height of cultivation.
I never thought about doing that to beat dracula

I got to dracula yesterday. The game locked up after I had been fighting him for about a half hour. I was even playing in a top loading NES.

they let you shoot a bunch of potions (or any other weapon) at once repeatedly, thus preventing dracula from moving away and escaping...
