I read StormFront because I was looking for another Harry Potter type read. I wanted more mystery and magic. This wasn't quite as good but an OK read. The show was good. It could have been better. They could mix Harry Potter with SVU.
Second City? How about Second Season? Right after getting hook, I find out that there's no more of this show? That sucks! Come on everybody! Chant with me! Bring-It-Back! Bring-It-Back! Bring-It-Back!
@lokiloveful Yeah. The books are allot better, but then again... they have to modify stuff for TV. Disembodied voice -> ghost. Removal/modification/creation of story/plot to fit an episode.
Still a really great TV series. If you like the TV series, then you'll love the books even more. ^_^
god i love this series, i saw this when the first aired it and was so dissapionted when it got canceled, but i just picked up the book series two Fridays ago and I've blown through the first four books, and need more..lol this is such a great series.
Truly a shame. This was well written, directed and acted. An excellent adaptation of the book series. This at least should go into mini series status and do about 9-12 shows for a mini series season like 4400. The character interaction was well developed and true. syjonic summed it up. Firefly was just revving up when the network canceled it as well. We need a Wizard around with all the bad mojo around.
Ahh poor Murphy...having to go through all that, and its the final episode and all then she got reconnected to her pa...All i got to say is this: LONG LIVE HARRY DRESDEN FILES!!!!!!! WOOT!! :) (Books and movies btw)
hmm they should have at least ended the series. make a few last shows that closes it so at least it could be called a mini-series. but on another note this is a great series and should have been given more than 12 episodes to prove itself.
Ok. I'm going to put my two cents out there. I love the Dresdin Files. I think it was an amazing show... but these types of shows or falling out of style. Buffy. Angel. Charmed. Dr. Who to an extent. They have an incredibly loyal fan-base... but it's also incredibly small. A handfull of comments on a show that hasn't even broken 200,000 views on every episode combined won't bring it back.
As sad as it is to admit, this guy has a point. I like this show. but 1000 views and 130 good ratings or so isn't going to get it back. The books on the other hand are still coming out and a all amazing. I just read the last one "Turn Coat" that was a good book.
Have you checked out the Codex Alera, his other series? I love the Dresden Files books but the Codex Alera series is like Dresden on steroids for the suspense & writing. Just as good...maybe better...& brutally suspenseful.
i say we resort to open warfare. BRING SCI FI DOWN IF SCFY WONT BRING DRESDEN BACK. VIVA LA REVULTION!!!! or we could do a civil rights march in the washington mall they only had 2,000 what about the 15,000 petition signers
I just spent 12 hours in front of my computer over a week watching the first movie/series that portrays a wizard in a non-stereotypical Hollywood fashion. Who ever canceled this show needs to kicked squarely in the genitals. BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!
Great show...I finally get cable and they cancel it. How crappy is my luck? The only thing I wish they had done is included either Marcone, or had done "Hair of the Dog" closer to what New Moon was. Regrettable that they had to get rid of this in order to fund more crappy reality shows.
Amen, I hate reality shows, I watch t.v. to escape the world, not to watch a bunch of no nothing fools be stupid. To me, this is quality programimg, so of coarse they took it off air.
Please Please Please, bring this show back it is the bomb...i got hooked and damn near watched every episode back to back...i didn't want it to end. Love it! And dresden is so freakin fine...lol
Sadly, yes. This was the last episode. They did air a two hour cut of the Dresden Files: Storm Front episode at three AM in the winter of 2008 but they did not air any more after that. That two hour version of Storm Front aired at three AM and was not listed on Scifi's schedule. That two hour cut was to be a special feature on the DVD but for some reason it was not released on the DVD set. No one really knows why.
the pentagram is NOT evil. did you see the pentagram on the monitor at the police station? its a symbol of protection > I wish these hollywood people would make sure they use it the right way upside down when they depict it as satanic.. morons
pentagram is a circle and the star. pentacle usually is only the star without the circle. without the circle you feel you have to power not to worry about sheilding so much
You're both right. Pentacle and Pentagram are the same thing. Dresden does wear one. You can see it in two previous episodes. At 11:12 Bob mentions that it looks like an inverted pentagram. An inverted pentagram means one that is the reverse of the usual protective intentions and used for darkness instead.
-sigh- oh, why oh why. I wish they would have left Bob as a talking air spirit of knowledge with no true form! I mean, I miss his pervy, smart ass remarks.
Speak for yourself. I wouldn't exchange this version of Bob for anyone or anything. Bob was the coolest thing about this show! There are like four fan clubs dedicated to the show incarnation of Bob and more than half the fan fiction is about this version of Bob. There are still people on Jim Butcher's forum trying to get him to use this version of Bob in his books. Terrence Mann's Bob was the coolest ghost in TV history.
Why? I love the ghost version of Bob. Most people who have read the books actually agree that Bob on the TV show was a vast improvement on the book incarnation. And he's very snarky in the show too. The pervy stuff lives on too. In the episode Rules of Engagement he asks Harry if he can "watch." The ghost just maeks more sense than a talking skull.
He's not just a talking skull. While I have no opinion on the matter (which is, to say, I think they're both equal) he Skull held the Spirit of two people, one was a famous magician, and one was a necromancer, Bob being only a spirit of intellect, without a real mind of his own. The "snarkiness" and "pervy stuff " is an implanted mind.
I think the show's incarnation of Bob AKA Hrothbert of Bainbridge was one of the best things about the show. I love Mann's acting and I have a fondness for The Canterville Ghost by Oscar Wilde. Bob of the show reminded me of Sir Simon from The Canterville Ghost. I definitely prefer the show version of Bob to the version in the books. I actually care about this version of Bob. I don't feel anything toward the book version. I miss this version of Bob. I wish his story had some closure.
I feel the Scifi channel was very foolish in not continuing this TV show. It had so much potential. It's not too late. Lionsgate has the rights until 2012, right? They should bring the show back somehow.
Sci-Fi is known to cancel promising shows. Farscape only lasted 3 seasons and it was there top rated show at the time. Not very much violence or gore in this show. Anyone watch Bones, CSI, etc. Those shows have far more violent and graphic content. Still this had a lot of potential for growth. I was sad to see it cancelled.
In my opinion Farscape fans were luckier than Dresden Files fans. They at least got a mini-series to end the story and three seasons. We Dresden Files fans only got twelve episodes and no closure. I miss this show. I still wish they would give it a final mini-series, some closure at least for the Bob story line.
There are always great injustices in the world. For me it was the cancellation of Firefly. Sometimes good shows do not make it, mostly because of ignorant execs.
It's clear that not renewing The Dresden Files was a mistake. I wish someone would set right the mistake and bring the show back to TV with new episodes.
Love this soon but the books were alot better, im actually reading the books right now and its strange how much more graphic they are then the actual tv show.
I don't understand it, myself. When Robert Wolfe told us on the Jim Butcher forum that he wanted to have Lisa Ryder do a reading for Winifred it made a lot of us very excited for Season 2. I was very much hoping they would get a chance in season 2 to introduce a show version of the character Thomas Raith (my favorite character from the novels). And I was really looking forward to finding out more about Hrothbert of Bainbridge's (Bob) back story.
I can see why the show was cancelled. There's a lot of graphic content that's not "suitable" for most audiences. Heck, I've seen blood and gore in real life, and this show grossed me out once in a while.
Now. Don't get me wrong, it was good, and i want to finish the books cause they're wonderful.
Umm... This show had far less violence than most fantasy shows still airing and it had less violence than the novels from which it was based on. No, violence had nothing to do with why it was not continued. I can't fathom how anyone could think that.
This show should have had a second season. There is no reason on Earth why it should not have continued. It was the third highest rated show on the Scifi channel during it's run. It had a growing fan base. I can't understand why it wasn't renewed.

Bob of the show = Tragic trapped soul of the sorcerer Hrothbert of Bainbridge who descended into the dark arts after the death of the woman he loves.
Bob of the books = spirit of intellect in a skull with 'no free will' and adopting the subconscious personality of his owner.
Sorry Mr. Butcher but I prefer the ghost. He's very Canterville Ghost-esque.
