I've found that since most of these individual animals tend to be on the "older" side, it is extremely difficult to teach them any new tricks. They have selective hearing and tend to fall asleep while in a "sit-stay" position.

If you happen to have a good representative of the breed, treasure it. They are hard to find.

This video makes me remember Billy, our Northern Alky Beerswill. We knew he was untrainable, but we enjoyed his antics at parties where he was always the center of attention, howling and whining! It almost sounded as if he was talking sometimes! He had a crotch sniffing/leg humping problem we could never cure him of, even after we got a female Alky whom he seemed to like. We put him down after his liver swelled up and he bit a neighbor. We cried and cried....

I've had a lot of them and they can be sweet but make sure you introduce him to the others prior to adoption as they also tend to be grouchy and tempermental.
