I was in "Nam" from 1967 through 1969. I just stumbled on this song about an hour ago. It destroyed me. I don't know why. With only one exception in 2002, nothing has bothered me about my experience there during the past 40 years until I heard this.

This is so real and emotional for me. I was carried out of Vietnam for failure to leave regarding orders to Drill Instructor School Parris Island on Jan. 10,1970. I was a member of Graves Registration at the time of transfer after having served in Vietnam from Aug 12, 1967 to Jan. 10, 1970. Not to go into detail but on May 30, 2010 I wrote a song titled 'US Marine'.

I am not a musician so I have to rely on instrumental music which I come across on the internet. I forget where I found the tune but it inspired me to write 'US Marine'. I am searching for someone who has the ability and inspiration to produce a video for my song. In seeing what you did here, I believe you may be that certain someone or at least I am hoping you are.
What you have done here is simply so real which lend truth to your lyrics and vocals. Your collaborator for the music wrote an awesome piece as well for your lyrics and vocals. Brilliant song Mark! Beautifully sung and a wonderful contribution by Rick and Alice. Regarding your quote from "Imagine It's You" (in reply to cariboubill) in which you refer to us possibly being 'victims of some wicked plot created and molded from the minds of a few' I'd like to quote from the movie "Cold Mountain". It was set during the Civil War and there is a line spoken by one of the characters: "Men march off to war under a flag and a lie". Too true in too many cases I believe.
I believe were right Ferdy, there is a much bigger power out there and it's mostly under the umbrella of greed, lust and big money, which have no regard for humanity or the average person, they are only interested in lining their pockets and filling their bellies and minds with lustful events. As a related story - when I was a young soldier many years ago, when our rifles were not clean enough for inspection, our Seargent Major would run around the shack, rifles held above our head until we fell with exhaustion - yelling "This is our rifle, this is our gun, this one is for shooting, the other's for fun". The message of this song is horrifying, all those young and naive souls suddenly maturing with a truth exploding in front of their faces and leaving a scar for the rest of their lives ironically drafted " Lucky to get out alive from there" God bless them all.
Thank you Alice from the bottom of my heart for bringing the lyrics in this song to a level where people can really identify with the horror and the aftermath of what wars and conflicts bring to humanity. There is nothing good about them, no winners, only losers on both sides. I have to confess that in this occasion I took quite a while to make the video, not a time problem but a bad feeling I had everytime I´d open the Adobe Premiere. Having to repeatedly watch all those images in order to find the appropiate is not an easy task, and having to do it for several days with a lump in my throat, my stomach and heart wouldn´t let me dedicate too many hours straight.

I first heard the chorus in the Marine Corps and when I saw this in my list, I had to listen. I had NO IDEA that these words I always thought so humorous could be given so much poignancy from a song. Semper Fi! One of the best songs I have heard in a long while. Chilling videography - a super collaboration!

Mark, I was so emotional after I watched and listened to this song and video that I forwarded it to Frank, Peter, and Johnny and then could not write to you right away. I am completely speechless still. I have no words for the emotion you brought out in me with this song. And then Rick and Alice......the mix and video......completely astonishing!! I love you all so!!! I am having such a great time watching your songs brought to life with 2 more very special people. All I can say is "WOW"!

Thank you! Those words don't begin to say what is in my heart. I dated some of the boy-men that fought in that war...and now my own baby boy is in Afghanistan. I LOVE all the soldiers and HATE all the wars. (BTW...Sentiments aside, your performance is STUNNING!)

Oh my gosh! I grew up as a kid watching this war on TV. 1969 I was 12 worrying about my little brother and his fate. This is more than EPIC - words don't come close. BRAVO - thank you for sharing.

This Video is so true and is very moving. lets take time each day to remember each and every one of our troops fighting over seas. The Mother's, The Father's, The sons, and the Daughter's who fought and died and are still fighting to protect our freedom. This song Truly represents the American soldier and the other side of military battle that the American public is never shown or told about. Thank you Mary, Rick and Alice what a true song.

This is EPIC, its a long video but then again so are most well written novels or movies. I really felt for all those that lost thier lives in wars while watching this vid. If someone can watch and listen to this song with out cryin then you got no heart.

I first heard the chorus in the Marine Corps and when I saw this in my list, I had to listen. I had NO IDEA that these words I always thought so humorous could be given so much poignancy from a song. Semper Fi! One of the best songs I have heard in a long while. Chilling videography - a super collaboration!
