@LedWilde Hip-hip wasn't coined until 1979 I think, so really she is one of the first rap artists to exist. She also helped rap and hip hop to become popular along with Grand Master Flash and Afrika Bambaataa in the early 80s.

First of all, she's not a Rap artist. Doing a little Rap in a song doesn't make someone a Rap artist. People who lived and breathed Rap, Grand Master Flash, were Rap artists. Maybe she brought Rap to some people's attention who never noticed it before.

@angle365ify are you kidding me? This song was released in the 80s, and Raps been around way before that. It began as "disco rap" as it's first label, and was later called "hip-hop". The name was acredited to Keith Cowboy and Grandmaster Flash, in the 70s. Blondie was not the first to start rap.
