A little known fact is that because the band members did not know how to play a banjo, they took a banjo and tuned it like a guitar.

I thought it was played on a Banjitar- a 6 string banjo.

Some say it was played on a banjitar tuned like a guitar, some say a tenor banjo. Either way, it's hard as hell to play on a basic five string banjo unless you're pinky is like six inches long or something.

haha I love playing this song. For me, I had to use my thumb to mute the EA strings and use my index finger to mute the D string so I could play it cleanly and strum openly.
