yeah i have a 29er its not very stable in low winds but you get use to it takes you like 6 months really.

are 29ers the same as 49ers in that the helm steers while the crew does the rest?

29ers and 49ers are the same, apart from the fact that the 49er has 2 trapeze wires on each side of the hull(one for the crew, one for the helm) and the rig in the 49er is bigger, therefore requiring the sailors using the boat to be heavier.

to sail double handed boats? Right now, at my sailing school, i sail a 420. Its actually pretty hard. But from what my instructors tell me (from experience with these boats), the 29er is impossible. If its 8knots or lower, it will capsize because it needs speed to stay afloat.

if you're finding a 420 hard, yeah, a 29er will kill you. Get really good on 420's before you touch skiffs, or you'll be on your side half the time. 29ers will capsize if you sit on the gunnels in no wind... That's why you sit in the middle to balance it until you get out. Or one on each side.

Yup, and in less than about 3 m/s you'll sail faster than everyone else. You can sail alone in more wind too, as long as you can hold on to the trapeze and rudder at the same time :)

Yes, you wear a harness, so you don't have to hold on. The guy at the beginning is merely demonstrating how to put it on.
