It's off the first album Midnight Oil also known as Powderworks - the 4 track ep Bird Noises was released after the 2nd album Head Injuries - 4th release was Place without a postcard then 10, 9, 8 & megastardom. First saw these guys when I was 15yrs old at the Ambassador Nightclub in 78 & the first album had just been released. The best live band ever!
@spoonman63 spot on spoonman i first spotted them 79 at swansee, i was roadie for ward 10, we supported the oils at the bass and mayfield rsl, at mayfield i was stage right, they tripped the juice for the third time, due to their power draw, hirsty was so pissed, he kicked the kit right off the riser, drums, mikes, stands, everywhere, some fool, threw a can onto the stage, and glen "pig" lloyd, jumped off the stage with a batton, the crowd parted, and he donged the guy, on the scon, pete came
@turdbearer as i was saying pete came out, clapped his hands and called piggy a couple of times and piggy returned, the crowd parting was damn near biblical, no more cans were thown that night, the show resumed and i got to see the oils in full flight without the push and shove, only downer was having to lug out after it, ahh thems were the days
Turdbearer, I remember seeing ward 10 at the Hunter hotel - good times for sure. I am pretty sure Giffo took his P bass & shoved it through the roof while Hirsty was destroying his drumkit @ the Mayfield RSL gig. When the band left the stage the bass was left swinging from the roof!
I'm sure there first album was "Bird noises" a featherless bird on the cover.. only had four songs on it..anybody remembers this??? then their self titled album
This era of Aussie rock, late 70's, was just friggin awesome. If I could travel back in time these are the gigs I would hit: Oils, early INXS, Birdman.... actually the list just goes on and on lol
midnight oil is my favorite band in the world. and its so sad.. I've never been able to see them live. but i am going to keep my fingers crossed that maybe on a vacation from parliament that they will do a show and i will spend all my money to go see them.
This song is almost impossibly good ! Awesome !

Cette chanson n'est pas du tout connue en France, et pourtant je trouve personnellement que c'est une bombe du rock!

This is total prog rock, I don't care what anyone says. Which is to say, it rules, like most of their other stuff from this era (and beyond).

I have a feeling it is off their first album, cause I have seen them play it, at the Stage door tavern Selinas etc. And that was way back in the '70s

Original recording is off their self titled album. recorded in 1977 and release in '78.
