I love the part where "It's magick" comes in when the words are written in the air. That, with the looks on their faces......gives a whole new wonderful spin on the moment.
books are better!!!!!!!! i hate how they have so many changes on the tv. some compensation. doesnt even make sense except that they arent willing to stretch their patience and do what the book has. book's plot is better :)
I'm so glad that even though the show is slightly different from the books, they are still basically similar; they have the same personality. It's great to find a show where you can love the show AND the books without having to reconcile one or the other
Soul Beneficiary is the title of the episode. It's the one where a guy drops dead in Harry's office, and he finds out that the coroner's assistant is bringing the guy back to life over and over again only to kill him for the insurance money.
I didn't even know this was a book series until I watched the series on DVD. The only real mistake the series made was trying to adapt one of the books into a 45 minute episode(even if it was the pilot).
Thanks for the video... just ran into it today, and it was a nice nostalgia bump... I really kinda miss Harry and the guys, nice to see em again.
Sad to see the book snobs still won't give the show a break. I own every one of the books, really like em too, BUT I only found em because I liked the show so much. That's me and a million others. Give some credit.
I mean... sometimes I'm reading the books, and think, wow, I wish the book Harry was half as cool as the TV Harry... lol.
Actually they did. You coward, try speaking for Jim Butcher (the author) over on his own forum. See how much he 'loves' you for it, putting down a show he helped make and even appeared in.

i cant believe they cancelled this after the first season o.O them dumb fucks at SciFi, wtf was they thinking!?!? oh and i gotta get me a kick ass hockey stick like Harry's
they did the same thing to Firefly: great show axed way too early. But hey, the fans had an uprising and they decided to make Serenity! so lets hope something similar happens to The Dresden Files. I've got my fingers crossed :D
No, it wasn;t. First, it exposed alot of people to the books. Second, it did not have the time to develop that the novels did. Third, it was BASED on the books. There's alot in those books that could not be done on the small screen. The characters though - Harry, Murphy, even Bob (in his combination of Bob and thomas way) were true to what Butcher wrote.
Sad the show is gone, but least we still have new novels.
sure it is a great show but it was only iffy on it's connection to the book. first Keyth987is only half right they may have been able to make it more like the novels but while the plot was good the characters were off they should have switched murphy and susen, bob was....not bob, they totally messed up on what was SUPPOSED to be justin du morne but they messed that up, skipped he who waliked behind and aliminated elaine and no one is sure yet of those two characters' importance
You really think so? Let's look at the facts. 'I'm glad I have no free will.' The comment, in itself, is a contradiction in terms. You need a free will to be glad. Then there's also him choosing Harry over his former master at the end of Dead Beat. That too is an act of free will. I'm not naive enough to think a talking skull would have worked better than a Tony Award Winning star playing a character with an actual back story.
Even Jim Butcher said the show's version of Bob works better. I can link you to his very forum statement about this. You're not obligated to prefer all aspects of the books out of what you THINK is loyalty to Jim Butcher. Not only is a talking skull puppet or CGI hard to deal with on TV or film but also the contradiction of Bob's nature as a 'PC with no real personality' has too many contradictions that the TV audience actually would have noticed.
@TheBratKingJareth Honestly, I agree. I know a few people who were upset with the changes made to Bob's character, but in terms of functional characters in a TV show, Mann's performance of Bob works much better, both visually and as a plot device. The Skull just wouldn't have been enough. One of the changes I liked from the books to the TV series, though I did miss bob's lasciviousness and romance book addiction... :D
You are actually the first person I Have EVER met who thinks the skull would be better. There was a survey about this back in 2007. It was almost unanimous that Terrence Mann's ghostly version of Bob was preferred. There are two active fan clubs for the show version of Bob. The skull version... err not as much. Fan fiction net's Dresden files section has 300 Dresden Files fan fiction and over 170 of them are based around the show's version of Bob and they're not all by the same authors.
@mikanac As a fan of the books, I agree, as a fan who originally started with the show, I disagree. The show was way off on alot of key points (Hockey stick?! WTF?! And WHERE is the blue beetle and his canvas/leather duster?!) But as a stand-alone series, it was actually really well done. I was sad to see it go off the air... I wish it could have been a little more accurate to canon, because some of what they cut out would have been awesome, but otherwise it was a really good show. :)

@ilovemonkeysandtacos He's got that instead of the staff. *shrugs* Small differences but I don't think it took away from the show. ;)

@furtergirl2 Doesn't really take away from it, but it would have been nice to see him with a proper staff and blasting rod.

There is a two hour version of Storm Front that's much better. They only aired it once at three AM but it was never released to DVD.

perhaps. but I enjoyed the actors on it a lot. and besides it's nice to see a road less traveled. like what is done with fanfic.

Jesus...the show and the books are not the same. The show was a different animal entirely. An alternate universe, really.
They weren't supposed to exactly alike, and I think that's a good thing.

I agree. I feel Terrence Mann's Bob was a vast improvement on the book incarnation.
