  • What flippin tuning is he in?

  • Please can somebody explain what strings / frets he's using for the Em/D. I'm learning and find this song pretty easy, apart from that one chord. Online there seem to be loads of variations for it....Thanks!

  • @stephmp89 When I refer to "E minor slash D" during the intro part I mean play an E minor (022000) first by itself and then play a D (XX0232) immediately after. These two chords combined should take you the same amount of time to play as any of single chords before it in the intro. Listen and hopefully it'll make sense, but really in this case "E minor slash D" really just means 2 chords played back to back.

  • @teoucsb82 Thanks very much :) You're awesome

  • there wouldn't be so many people loosing their religion if they knew it was never about religion or a book. Jesus died to send the Holy ghost. Not a book. Churches and bibles are what has destroyed all of Gods creation and decieved the world. Bible worshipers killed Jesus. King james was born 1566 6th in scotland. He authorized 66 books and stole the name word of god and the glory from God. THE BIBLE IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST!

  • @MarkofBeastRevealed Wow...I'll make more videos for each crazy comment you make that's as good as this one...

  • @MarkofBeastRevealed OH My God, are you Losin Your Mind, get the reference? Losing My Religion has nothing to do with religion. REM are from Georgia. Losing my religion is an old Southern Saying. When someone says I am losing my religion, it means they are at the end of their rope. Yet another old Southern saying. But for yu to say The Holy Bible is the mark of the beast is disturbing. Where do you get your info. from, or is it the voices in your head talking to you. Find a good church.

  • Nice to see an instructional video where someone actually uses the correct string numbers.

  • The intro is 10th fret of the first string, then go to 12 fret of the same string, go back to 10 (still same string), then, 10th fret of the second string and then, play the 10 fret of the second string and 9th fret of the first string together.

  • the perfect class lesson, i dnot understand : (

  • Thanks. This takes time - what you're showing. Appreciate it.

    Good job.

    Keep it up :)

  • learnin this for a sing song at the end of the night for my wedding day next saturday. This is the best tutorial I have seen so far and has saved me alot of time working it out on my own. trying to learn loads for next saturday so thank you very much sir its awesome how helpfull some people are. I really appreciate the post.

  • beard power

  • WOW! Salute!

  • wow. absolutely amazing. Care to teach the one i love?

  • Very Good. Thanks man.

  • i learn it!!! thx

    you re a good teacher!

    wish you upload more songs!

  • wicked watched this 3 times and now all i have to do is practise ! excellent man ! more please as you are obvoiusly good at this !!!!!!!

  • just beautiful man, thanx.

  • i wanna know how to play that opening riff without a CAPPO

i cant find any videos doing it and it sounds so good

nice vid man keep it up, if u could do a video of not using a cappo then that would be helpfull

  • @ruggerz92

Use your pointerfinger instead of the capo and bar at the 5th fred. Just play the other notes with your ring-finger. You only have to put a bar over the strings you want to play open, so you can leave out E and A. (makes it easier)

  • Great job. I am learning this on my twelve string and it sounds incredible. On a side note, all of you who are talking about capos like they are something hard to use or not something you would want to use, are crazy. They are not difficult and are necessary to grow. Using a capo will open up a whole new world of songs and sounds. Every, and I mean every, guitar player worth their salt uses a capo at one time or another. Buy a capo and you'll thank me ten times over.

  • nice vid

  • Awesome video dude! Im so glad you can explain it perfectly

  • definately should play the full barre version of the B instead. The 3 string version is no good.

  • well unless you were teaching the song in a better way , you should not make any none positive comment i think.

  • Just another reason for me to go buy a damn capo, lol

  • Guitar noise rocks

  • awesome lesson from ireland

  • great vid, you could have slowed down a tad at the start, for the riff, but you get the whole hing out really well, good stuff. Thanks

  • Good tutorial, still looking for a version without capo..

  • I'm back at it today. One thing I do notice is that isn't any of that annoying up, down, up, up, down bullshit that often consumes alot of the videos. I admit that I am still having trouble with the bridge...something doesn't quite click when it's being sung and the transition to the "D" feels awkward. I'm not bitching, as this is still the best tutorial I've seen yet...I suppose it's not a complete handout as I'll have to work at it. Thanks the same...keep on rockin'.

  • Thanks for the feedback, if you really want to "figure out" the song I suggest checking out the original website I found these tabs on (check the more info section, upper right) which goes into all the music theory I still know nothing about, but maybe it'll help with the bridge/etc. Glad you liked it all the same, and thanks for the comments.

  • @caninechezmo up down up up bullshit lol (chord progression)

  • This is exactly the version that I wanted. It almost sounds like a mandolin was added in...kind of surreal strange dream as it should be. Excellent instruction for intermediate level guitarist.

  • very good my friend, thx, now i can play that

  • like your version the intro riff is great

  • Greetings from Liverpool, England.

Quality bud, nice video editing towards the end lol.

I've been playing since March this year and you have made this great tune easy to understand and play.

    Keep up the good work

  • Go you reds!

  • Means a lot to hear the kind words, thank you for your comment and I'm glad you liked it!

  • Got any more stuff? The Losing My Religion lesson was excellent. I'm in the process of building up a fairly substantial chord / lyric library in Microsoft Word and I like having good links available to keep going back to.

  • Very good!!! adorei!!!

  • im sorry but this video was of no help to me becaus the stumming isn't clear

  • that just means u can't feel the rythm, too bad for u :(

  • i just wanna say thank u but my classic guitar is killing me... sounds so no like acoustic

  • Thank you... brilliant :)

  • very good lesson, and you've got a great voice.

  • Very helpful. Mais quelqu'un peut expliquer en français l'intro ?

  • thanks man,

really helpful !!! you explained it very well !!!

  • we need more lessons from you buddy, very good and comprehensive

  • nice lesson dude, is there any chance you cud do a lesson on the easiest way for a novice like myself to play Here comes the sun by George Harrison, respect if you can dude

  • good job bro..i`ve been trying to play this song for 1 year..i couldnt..but i`ve learned it from u..thanks man

  • Nice video what do you call that thing on the 5 fret? I need to buy one...

  • It's called a capo, and I got mine at a mom and pop music store around the block for $10. I can't even begin to explain the musical theory behind it (I'm self-taught off tabs only, sadly) but basically it lets you change the octave of whatever you're playing so you can play it higher and be able to sing along.

A lot of popular beginner guitar songs require a capo...Oasis' "Wonderwall" and Tom Petty's "Freefallin'" come to mind, but it's definitely worth picking one up regardless

  • good lesson man

  • is it the same strumming pattern the whole way through and what is the strumming pattern i cant catch on to it

  • Comment removed

  • What is your strum pattern for each section?

  • This is down an octave

  • de la ptm. brother... exelente

  • Nice, it would sound better and more like the original with a 12 string though.

  • good work! keep it up man

  • thx.

  • cheers buddy, always wanted to learn this, im very happy with the way im playing it now. great lesson

  • how do people do the up strums when you use your bare hand to strum?

  • Author obviously meant chord shapes, comrade.

  • Totally cool man! Thank you very much. It was great and I really appreciate you taking the time to go over which strings you're hitting. Excellent video lesson!

  • Congratulations!! Felicitaciones!! Muy interesante y buena tu lección. From Argentina! Thanks y gracias por poner cosas tan copadas. Saludos!! Muy buenos arreglitos para tocarlo con la guitara

    Ciao

  • nice work dude thnxx!

  • thanks ,,,very nice lesson

  • very well done. Thanks!

  • ty so much !

  • Could you send me your tabs please ? Thank you very much ! I'm french, your video is clear but I'm "beginner" or "débutante" in french... sorry.

  • they're in the description (or at least a link)

  • nice class, i found it very useful, thank u very much

  • Excellent instruction - you're a natural teacher! Post more songs and playing detail, PLEASE!!!!!!

  • very good singing and playing

  • What website did you get the chords and lyrics..the video is great!

  • whats that black thing on the guitar neck (i'm a beginner)

  • That is called a "capo"

Its purpose is to hold a fret, enabling the player to play part of the higher neck of the guitar as he does without the capo

  • Do I have to use a capo 4 this song?:S

  • No you can play converting the tunes: F Am G for the intro, Am Em G for the verse (it actually sounds better if you play Dm before the G in the last line) th chorus F G Am. you´ve got to convert the riffs 5 tunes upper. It´s actually the same but it sounds a little better with the capo.

  • Wow that is amazing, you are a great teacher, keep it up!

  • Wow!This was one of the VERY BEST lessons I've taken on Youtube! Thanks for sharing it! You are an excellent teacher! I'm very excited to be playing this song this way! Thanks again!!!

  • on the chorus why do you say do an open G when even yourself do an open e and it also says on your tabs open e then EBG open ? You shud have posted the strumming patterns doesnt matter if you figured it out others cant and im having trouble after the intro!

  • Hey buddy great video I almost got it but I can not figure out the strumming pattern! PLEASE HELP ME!!!

  • you rock buddy :)! thx a lot xD!

  • Superb!! Thanks.

  • Can someone (I just can't get it as a beginner) please tell me the strum pattern - it gives the song it's special sound. Thanks, I appreciate it - or could the lesson be played slowed down?

  • Thanks you VERY MUCh!!

  • I'm trying to teach myself. I don't know what a flat or a minor is or anything. i just look up where I put the fingers and i figure out the strumming pattern...this is kinda hard for me to follow... I tried the link, but it looked like a different language to me..

  • Absolutely great!!! Thank you so much!

    Well showed and explained!

    Dietmar (Germany)

  • why don't u just play an A MINOR without the 1st finger for the intro?

  • That works just fine too, when I was learning it I just picked up the single-finger style on both strings and it stuck, but use whichever method is easier for you.

  • actually that would be an Asus2

  • i want to learn to play guitar

this is a exelent how to !

    add to my favorites!!

    thanks

  • Awesome, Thanks

  • vacano como tokas

  • man could u expalin the stroke its all clear with chords. man i need ur help exaplin me the stroke please ..i dont get it :(

  • Unfortunately I couldn't tell you my exact strum pattern, I just kinda of played it how it felt right (try D DU UDU / UDU UDU though)...I'd recommend listening to the real song on repeat for a while, then just playing it so it sounds right to YOU.

  • Wow u are good at guitar and at singerxD

  • that hurt my hand`s

  • hey man i'm hoping you can do me a favor

can you send me the tabs

    of this video

    about 3.11 and ahead

    thans

  • m8 where can i get the tefview file for this m8. pluss songs cool dude

  • Is the capo absolutely necessary? I mean, some songs sound pretty darn close without one. "Wonderwall" by Oasis is a prime example.

    Just curious.

  • Wonderwall without a Capo sucks!!

  • i play it without the capo. start with little strum taken from mandolin part then Am Em.. Dm G..... then mandolin bit again and so on

  • where is the capo?

  • 5th fret

  • Different gravy!!

  • awesome man!!! thanks for posting this video

  • Sweet guitar man! and great job with the vid!

  • Outstanding video! Five stars. I also agree with gravyman on the intro.

  • really great vid man, i didn't like the sound of the very last chord at all thou, meh can always leave it out! ;) 5 stars

  • One of the greatest Songs ever. Simply easy to learn, simply perfect sound. Thanks a lot.

  • many thanks

  • EXCELLENT VID DUDE 5* STARS FROM ME

VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND YOU SHOULD DO MORE.

    THANKS FOR THE LESSON.

    bri

  • I do DDDUUUUDUDUDU and it sounds okay. But look at his hand and listen. Patience, it will come.

  • I'm still a beginner, but I really enjoyed your video and I'm trying to learn to play as good as you. I was just wondering if you could write the strumming pattern for the verse when you do the Em and Bm, it's kind of hard for me to get it. Thank you. Great video by the way.

  • never mind. got it

  • Dude...... u totally nailed d song....... y dont you make more videos......JOB WELL DONE......Sid

  • I learnt to play it with this video. Thanks very much. But I've found a better way to play the intro riff which other listners may find useful as I think it's a lot easier. You can start by holding the 2nd and 3rd fingers on the 4th and 3rd strings at the 2nd fret while you play the riff, then you can keep the 2nd finger on and swivel to easily find the C chord afterwards. This is a lot easier and smoother because you don't have to move any fingers. See what you think.

  • good job! thanks for posting! cute singing too ;)

Thanks again! I actually learned it well!

  • great job....you should make more videos, your one of the best teaches on you tube...many thanks.......john

  • thank you! You explained it so well, this version is much better than mine especially with the riff. you're a great teacher, especially since i'm a beginner.

  • great man!

    thanx alot..=)

  • i have been trying for ages to learn this as it is one of my favorite songs. i love the way you have made it your own, bringing in bass notes, riffs and keeping that mandolin sound. awesome job i owe you loads. thanks, I will spend days studying this video. shouldn't take days your instructions are very clear but i'm a bit rubbish

  • Thank you! As I mentioned in the comments section, all I did was create a video based off someone else's excellent tabbing that I found online. I'm glad the video I made is helping you, I'm still very much a beginner myself and as soon as I find another classic song without a "how to" video on Youtube I'll make another video, I was just fortunate that no one beat me to making this one =)

  • oops i posted that last comment as "Kevin"

    heh.

    <3<3

  • Yeah I have to say you did a really good job with the video, if i had tried to learn the tabs by myself it would have taken me dayys. you made them make sense. THanks! now I can play one of my favorite songs AND sing a long to it. <3 hurrah.

  • Very nice and detail this really helpful I thank you for your teaching =D.

  • You are an AMAZING teacher! (But something about the chord at 1:10 sounds definitely off.)

  • Thanks!

  • great video, thanks.

  • Hey great video! I wonder what you think of my version.

  • hey, nice lesson! Like the Dean. I've got the DA-ACSE/AMB but changed all the plastic to bone and it make such a HUGE dif it was worth the effort. Most recommended!

  • Heh, thanks, but you lost me on the plastic/bone thing... Got any links to show me what you mean? I've only been playing for 18 months (got the guitar on a friend's recommendation), I'm not sure I follow you but I'm definitely intrigued...

  • the best lesson i've ever had cheers!!

  • But wher'es the link to the website ? :)

  • Found it ;)

  • Very good! Seems like a correct translating from a mandolin to guitar... :) Been looking for this! Thanks :) One of the best lessons for this song I've seen

  • Much obliged, I wish I could take credit for it but it's all from that website (which goes into MUCH more music theory/detail on the tabs), I just made a video for it. Glad you liked it

  • This is cool! Thanks for sharing :)

  • this helped alot i have a school sow tomorrow thanks again dude

  • more pls.....

  • gr8 one i thought it could never be played off a mandolin

  • thnx for this video i can now play it :)

  • Awesome! I made this video on a whim without any real thought it would get as positive a response as it's gotten, feedback/results like yours are what's driving me to do more =)

  • Very Helpful. Will give it a go and add it to my vids

  • You ARE great, man. Keep it up!

  • whats the strumming pattern?

  • To be honest, I didn't really have one, I just kind of make it up as I go along. It helps if you know the song really really well before you start playing it (the timing, the words, etc) so that way when YOU try to play it on the guitar it comes natural and you don't even have to think about the strum.
