Has anybody (other than Cathy or Carl, of course) played this particular von Beckarath? I practiced on it 10 years ago to prepare for recital on another von Beckarath - the IV/93 at St Paul's Pittsburgh, Pa to refamiliarize myself with the 'touch' of a tracker. Not all von Beckaraths are the same, the schwellwerk (really a 'brustwerk') keyboard is extremely sensitive and the hauptwerk is much firmer. St Paul's von Becharath, you really needed to depress the keys deeply, when manuals coupled.
Excelente rendition. Nice tempos. Love the cadenza fills, very understated. Could have been more elaborate for my taste, but better to be understated than too much. I have started putting all my Bach pieces n Finale so I can reduce them and arrange page turns to be in a convenient place. I have done the prelude and am now working on entereing the fugue.
Memorizing also enables one to concentrate more on detail and to hear what is actully happening.
Some notes I "heard" by seeing them in the score actually were not heard the same by the audience. So it also allows one to compenste for these problems.
Let's see her!
Let her turn around before stopping the video.
Her cadenzas were too bland. Better to have omitted them.
back in the early 1980's I actually saw Cathy a few times flawlessly playing Bach from the miniscores!

The inability to memorize can certainly be a major handicap for an organist!

Ah, the perils of playing without a page turner!
