Social security will start sending out more money than it takes in (that's called a loss, for the mentally handicapped) in 2018. It will announce bankruptcy in 2038. Congratulations, i have to pay texes for something I WON'T FUCKING GET! this system was suppoesd to end over FIFTY YEARS AGO, and was never meant to be a sole source of retirement support in the first place. It already almost failed, because Democrats took all the money out, and spent it on other things!!

@judyleasugar97 Oh, I am naive. Not saying you are, but America was not as bad as victorian england. Many people actually questioned SS. It's intentions are good, but had deathly results. Fact: entitlements are the biggest part of the budget. Even if we cut military and other spending it is not going to cut it for SS or medicaid. Also, the system is forced down every americans throat. So, we virtually are stripped from retirement freedom. Ask yourself, what is more important freedom or Security.

Here is a news flash. There is no trust fund anymore. Just an empty box with an IOU stuck to the bottom. We are printing money to keep the checks flowing, and that will not last forever.

Google up the baby boomers and you will see that they are a financial tsunami that will take 14 YEARS to peak . They start collecting SS in 2 years, and it will take 14 years for them all to enroll in the bankrupt program. Private or Govt run it deosn't matter the program is "walking dead" already. DWI

There is a "lock box" and inside this "box" is 25 years worth of I.O.U. slips from congress. The box has no money in it.

The government borrows money from the private federal reserve bank to pay current SS recipients!!

SS gets money in, then it pays money out. ANY extra money is a "surplus" and is treated like any other surplus in the government, it is spent.

If you want "koolaid" then go look up the answer of "where is the SS trust fund" at the government's website. If you want a more accurate answer try CBS money watch, google it and cry.
