  • can u please tell me where u got your headers from i have looked everwhere and cant find any that fit a 454 and my 86 grand prix

  • @combatninja313 There are expensive( 500$), but they are only has to make for a 454 for the g-body. Here is the link number from summit or you may have in napa also .(Hooker Headers 2241HKR )

  • i just got a 1986 grandprix le and im wondering if the 3.8l was a good engine i got it for 400$ mint 85 00 km on it and i need a upper tabel

  • @MrCharles1669 I had a 3.8 before my big block.c 454 is a very good little engine, but that is not very powerful. But it is very economical and very reliable

  • i just got a 1986 grandprix le and im wondering if the 3.8l was a good engine

  • Nice I'm thinking about pitting a 455 in my grand prix..... Where did u get ur radiator?

  • i love it keep those pontiacs alive looks great f the haterssssssssssss

  • why a 454? in a gran prix are you the cops or something 454 engine's are the biggest gas guzzler's they drink gas chevy usually put's them in dually pickup's

  • cèst bon ! lol, holla at french america, k-beck :)

  • @CHUUMPASS

    nein

  • No A/C. That makes the swap much easier. I had an `81 and an`83. Both had 350SBC. On the `83, it had A/C and I had 4249 valve covers that barely fit. You definitely couldn't have that with a BBC without swapping the box or doing away with heat altogether.

  • is that a one piece fiber glass hood or was the scoop mounted on the hood?

  • @THEANTIPLAYER Yes is fiber hood scoop

  • @tasmanie28 where did U get it through and how much was it?

  • is that a one peice fiber glass hood or was the scoop mounted on the hood?

  • @81caminoss your a fucking moron pontiac never used a gm v8 they were allways buick v8s

  • ok whats the parts list i will need to drop in an olds 455 rocket? i might be able to get one ready to rock! i plan on doing chrome side pipes (thank fuck MN has no real emmissions laws) and ive got a lead on a TH 400 trans. keep in mind im a broke ass so the cheaper the better. (cost not quality wise) granted i'm willing to spend a few bucks and do it right. i just dont want my wife to divorce me over it. lol

  • Holy shit !!!! Thats so cool man ! Bet you fool alot of people on the street with that 454 under there haha !!

  • Just out of curiousity why did you put such a nice setup in a 84 grand prix, I'm not hating on the gp but that looks like a super clean high dollar build.

  • that was fucking beautiful!!! i have a 84 grand prix t tops its a v8 its my baby...been in my family for years i gotta get work done on it though it runs and all just needs fixing up!!

  • @Hatebot123 in the 1980's chevrolet produced V-8's for GM, buick produced V-6's for GM and olds produced 4 poppers for GM the only division that kept its own motors in GM back in the 80's and 90's was cadillac. look it up. its a well known fact. so if you have a 86 pontiac grand prix with a stock V-8 ITS A FREAKIN CHEVY MOTOR!!! starting in the 80's there where no more pontiac V-8 engines produced. they where chevy motors put into pontiacs by pontiac.

  • @cadddy1871

Oldsmobile made their own V8's. People like those because they apparently put out more torque than a chevy.

  • @ilshwak i had an olds tornado with the 307 olds engine and that thing hauled some serious ass.

  • @ilshwak olds used buicks v8s.

  • @Hatebot123

olds used buick V6's. Olds made their own V8's.

  • i have an 81 GP LJ with t-tops in good shape, the bad parts are its got that wheeze V6 and it just crapped its tranny. i want to do a 350 with a TH350 trans but my big worry is that the motor mounts will be hard to find. somone said i can just relocate my v6 motor mounts if i do a small block but i want to be damn shure before i start tearing the car apart. what id love to get is a GM g body with a v8 thats a rust bucket from hell just to have all the parts i need but i dont think i'll get lucky

  • @cadddy1871 You will not misery has put a 350 in it. You only have to remove the old bracket on the cross member. Go to a retail auto parts, and seek support for g-body V8, 1978 a1987 and that you screwed it in place. The support costs about $ 10 each new! The holes are already drilled in the cross member of origin. A child's play!

  • @tasmanie28 thank you very much. i have done motor swaps befor but it was always stock motor for stock motor. never gone from a 6 to an 8 so i was wondering if it would be a problem. once again thanks. and perhapps i will have to make a vidoe of the project and post it once it is complete

  • @tasmanie28 oh i have another question. where did you get that cowl hood and what did it set you back? its a nice edition to your car. ive consiterd putting the shaker hood cowl from a 77 trans am that has been hanging in my garage for over 4 years now just waiting for somthing like this. (thank god i have an auto body education. lol i looked for a cowl hood like yours and i have had trouble finding one that wassent "pin style" only.

  • @cadddy1871 In terms of th 350, it is absolutely identical to the transmission you have with your v6. The only thing that differs is what is most toff! Its bolt has exactly the same place.

  • dont be a asshole its a gm product in a gm car idiot

  • @Hatebot123 Honestly? I put a GM engine in a GM car? It's not like I put a ford engine in a GM!!

  • whats your gas mileage?

dont sell that car keep good care of it!

  • @crammage approx 18 mpg for the best good condition.

  • @tasmanie28 highway or combined?

  • @crammage Highway only, In the city aprrox 10 or 12 MPG

  • @tasmanie28 yeah but how fast is it 0-60?

  • @crammage I want to say that the car has changed a lot since this video, Posed buckets seat and a shiffter b & m and is mounted on the 255/60r15 Mickey Thompson. My best fan time is 5.32 sec 0-60 mph. next summer I'll make a new video with all what I said and also a new paint on the car is to plan for next spring

  • @tasmanie28 damn but do you really need a big block?

id do a 327 if not 400 small block

  • @crammage no replacement for displacement!

  • @tasmanie28

what kind of gears do you got in the rear? my 350 (chevy) gets 10-12 mpg period. no better, no worse unless i have the pedal on the floor all the time. I got 3.73 gears in the back so my mileage aint great. 18 highway is good.

  • @ilshwak I have a Gear 3.18. I madeprobably 15 to 18 mpg

  • @crammage 5.25 0-100 km/H or 0-60 MPH

  • That's a bad ass 454. Nice work.......I likes!

  • Thats fuckin nice my dad had a 74 corvette stingray but this thing is nice! thaks for uploading this

  • Awesome!

  • i have the same size motor in the same model car and need to replace my camshaft. is it possible to do this with the engine still in the car? i already know the easier ways but don't have the proper equipment to lift the engine up more for convenience. very nice setup

  • EXCELENT MUSCLE CAR

  • First of all , dont you just love how interchangable GM products are?

I really like your choice , those 81-87 Grand Prix's are in my opinion, great cars to hotrod. And hard to find in good shape too. I put a 454 in my 85 Sierra Classic and it fit right in , bolted to the small block tranny and motor mounts and she was perfect. I have a very small bit of it on here under ( 500 horse 454 ) its the black truck. Good job

  • he used reasonable thinking when matching his parts, that's why it has good throttle response. nice job

  • Nice

    your engine response very good

  • thanx anyway man. i had mine made at my school so im all good now :) come look at my 85 gp

  • i cant find the brace for the power steering. can u tell me where u got yours from bcuz i need it bad.

  • @LPATRON19 I even make my suport for the power steering. I did not find the part.

  • what kind of engine mounts did u use?

  • @jjb19814 the original motor mount for grand-prix V8 motors

  • @tasmanie28 man nice attention 2 detail under the hood!!!!!greatjob id keep the body lookin stock awsome sleeper!!!!!

  • i wish i had that in my 79 grand prix

  • i love it man! the ultimate sleeper car, you should leave it the way it looks with those stock looking rims, pull up beside a new mustang or challenger and roast it!

  • please give me the cam specs. duration and all on this badass

  • The camshaft is enginetech Es1224r or speed pro cs-1224r is the same identique.duration is 230/230, ovelap is 72 and valve lift is .544. Lobe center 107/111. Is very good cam for street. rougt and idle. Moderate performance.Usage good mid-range torque and hp, mild bracket racing, auto trans w/2500 + converter, 3400-3800 cruise RPM, 9.5 to11.0 compression ratio advised. Basic rpm 300-6000 rpm

  • thanx allot bro. bcuz im gettin paid and i wan a good cam to put in my baby. i have the same car but different model. i have an 85 pontiac gp. 305 hooker huggers, 7bb edelbrock carb, nice edelbrock intake, rebuilt heads, new push rods, dual w/ 44 s flowmasters, posi rear end comin 2morror. sounds good. now i gotta get the cam and im all set, thanx 4 the help

  • one other question. if u have your engine in timing when u take out the old cam do u put the new cam in and then spin the cam til the cam pin is facing the 3 o'clock position bcuz i dont want to mess up a valve with my new comp cam. please help.

  • @tasmanie28 Really Nice install and great little sleeper you got there. it ought to run Mid to low 12's with EASE..

  • PLEASE tell how much does a new 454hp big block COST, i need to know so i can save up for it and put it in my 1985 BUICK LESABRE

  • Everyone knows if you want a fast Pontiac, you gotta put a Chevy motor in it.

  • There are more pieces available to change an engine big block chevrolet, for a 455 pontiac engine. And I love the big block chevy!

  • NICE! looks just like my old grand prix, other then the 454 in it. lol i had a little 305 V8 5.0

  • NICE CAR NOT MANY BIGBLOCK GRANDPRIXS

  • what gas mileage do you get?

  • I have not really count, but about 12 to 14mpg I would say

  • what's your exhaust set up?

  • I have purchase exhaust race pro muffler for g-body . Manufacturer (pypes performance exhaust).Part numbers (Pypes Performance Exhaust 78-88 SS G-Body 2.5" Header-Back Exhaust System with X-Pipe, Race Pro Mufflers ((# sgg12r))

  • Nice gp. sounds great! wish mine sounded good haha. eventually in time. check mine out.

  • dude this is awesome, the ultimate sleeper, roll up in a grand prix at a light cla cla cla cla cla cla. thats sick

  • Great start. Love what you got cooking here. Please tell me you're going to make upgrades with the safety items inside the car?It looks like a shit load of power with a stock looking interior, and wheels and tires. I do like the recipe you're using though.

  • Yes it is only a beginning! And the interior is a remake I know! But its takes time and money!

  • sayyyyftee??? wtf is that LOL safty is how heavy his foot is =-) only thing id recomend is stiffer rear susp to take some of that torque twist

  • Seriously dude? Safety is where you take precautions to save your own life despite the dangerous conditions around you. Your humor is about as funny as a bad case of hemroids. Do you even have a clue what torque is?

  • it makes around 550 ft lbs. of torque give or take a bit ... why would he go and rollcage and 5 point a street car (unless he plans on running it at a track) do you see guys with the new 6.7 cummins "taking safty percautions"?? dont think so

  • Well, the way I see it is if you have an engine with as much power as this one appears to make, you need to make safety improvements in order to keep it from hitting a wall. Otherwise, what's the point of having that power if you don't put a foot in it? Also, with huge amounts of power and no upgrades in braking, suspension,....you're almost assuring yourself of disaster. When you wreck, I'll say I told you so.

  • Why a roll cage? Because who has a car with that kind of power and doesn't ever put a foot in it? Be honest. Odds are he will too. That kind of power always has a percentage of unpredictability about it. In other words, the potential is always there to lose control and smash the car. I hope that never happens. I love tons and tons of power like that, but safety with me is number one.

  • yeah to each their own .. the trans am i just built wont see a roll cage ... got a built big block pontiac but i dont ever plan on getting on the car ... i lit it up once about a month ago to see what it had and thats it ... i dont even like driving the car to be honest with you LOL

  • I have no clue about the new 6.7L Cummins engines. I can't make an informed opinion on them. But anytime you boost power you need to be sure things are safe.

  • NICE JOB SOUNDS GREAT

  • nice man! what are your other plans?

  • I need to work the suspenssion and I do make a nice paint job. But if the worst is not wrong!
