  • Walker had a better idea why he was fighting then the Americans in the US military; the only Americans who knew why we invaded Iraq and continue to prop up a corrupt regime in Afgan are there the ones that were against it then and now; as for Spann, like the rest of the spooks he was part merc, part psycho

  • John Walker Lindh is a tarder to our counrty and deserves every last minute of his sentence and then some. John Micheal Spann was a real American and war hero

  • god and country,in that order.

  • john is exatcly wht steve pictures him n his song, thnks steve, u r brave

  • Nice one Inn7516

  • WELL DONE

  • Right to his opinion? Yes. Right to shoot at his own countrymen and not expect to go down? No fway. I wish I could beat the shit out of him. No love lost between the ultra righties and me. I piss on the MTV generation and reality show culture. But I would kill anyone that would take up arms against us.

  • @pjandy77 He was taking up arms against Afghans, then was put on the front line when USA came in and he was threatened with death if he left the front. Not defending him or agreeing with his actions, just saying i dont believe he went over there just to fight his own countrymen,

  • @pjandy77 Coming from a certain country does not make someone right or wrong. Just because its "your countrymen" and anyone who fights them should be killed is ignorant primitive behavior. Sometimes you got to think who really is the bully and who is the victim and support what is good and not evil.

  • This is hero

  • John Walker and I may not see eye to eye, but goddamn if he doesn't have every right to his own opinion and to stand up and fight for it if he believes it is right.

  • yeah go fuck yourself jtmoore, you moron.

  • Sick!

  • This song deeply touched me. The only reason I still love America, is because of its rebels and outlaws.

  • John Walker, the best American ever!

    You are a true hero!

  • this dude is a traitor.. point to line!

  • @klepetar He is no traitor.

  • John, you are hero!

  • Steve Earle: Pure courage and immense talent. A true artist.

  • Thought steve kicked drugs.Maybe now he needs to have his ass kicked!

  • @streborify your an idiot man.

  • Great song by a great artist

  • When Christians start randomly killing innocent people in the name of Jesus than you can start pointing your finger at Christians.Isalmic Extremists kill innocent people almost on a daily basis in the name of Allah; so you hyprocrites saying the "west" is evil can shove that up your ass.

  • @jtmoore292007 Point point point point; and Islamic terrorists; point point point; you all kill in the name of "I'm Right, and you're WRONG" everything decays in the end wich feeds the worms and is good fertilizer for my garden; aside from this STUPIDITY... Steve Earle is Wonderful

  • @ClintL63 Keep living in your dream world Clint why those of who are brave enough do what is necessary so you can continue to grow vegetables and drink your unicorn milk.

  • @jtmoore292007 I am POINTING to BOTH you dumbass religious DOPES! The Muck-Mucks and the Jeezus Freaks! You both kill in the name of superstition; Your unicorn milk is wine:the blood of Jeeeeeezus; Spooks in the sky...you're afraid of Spooks in the sky; unicorn milk? milk ME!!!

  • @jtmoore292007 You mean like they did during the crusade , Spanish inquisition & Salem witchhunts ?

  • @spoiler138 Lets see the crusades were roughly 900 yrs ago, the Spanish Inquisition was 5 or 600 yrs ago, and the Salem witch trials were 300 plus yrs ago...hmm, dont really think that applicable to the present...btw, the Muslims were involved in the Crusades as well, the Crusdes were an attempt to retake the holy lands from the Muslims who had taken them by force yrs before.

  • @jtmoore292007 .

About one million innocent Iraqis dead since the 2003 American 'liberation'.

    Who's the hypocrite?

  • @bencubed Really a million, and where exactly are you getting your figures from? And how many innocent Iraqis have been by Insurgent suicide bombers? Sadam killed literally, and its documented, 1000s of his own people. Who hasn't seen the video of the 5000 Kurds lying dead in the streets gassed by Sadam's troops you think the Iraqi people would be better off? You should get up to date on your current events before you start spouting off. Bencubed you and ClintL63 must be buddies.

  • @jtmoore292007 ..

Getting rid of one corrupt leader does not justify an invasion resulting in complete societal chaos and the deaths of so many, many more innocents. The figures are readily available for anyone inclined to look.

If you were honest, you would admit you don't give a damn about the deaths of the Muslims in Iraq without consideration for their non-connection to 9/11, absence of WMD and non-threat to America.

Your American supremacist ideology is exactly why radical Islam exists.

  • @bencubed He should have been deposed the first time we went into Iraq. Every intelligence agency believed they had WMDs not only because there was evidence, but also because Sadam Regime claimed to have them. BTW, Sarin gas is considered to be a WMD and that was the gas used on the Kurds. The Iraqi people are better off without Sadam, and are well on their way to free Democratic society. Death is better than living under a Tyrant; we have a saying where I come from "Liberty or Death".

  • @jtmoore292007 . You have to explain the mathematical morality of causing the deaths of yes, about one million innocents to serve the purpose of eliminating a single individual.

It doesn't add up unless you care nothing for them in the first place.

    Don't bother responding asshole.

  • @bencubed oh okay, whatever you say bencubed...really, have you seen all the things the US has done for the Iraqi people the infrastructure, the water wells, the schools, and the hospitals built with American sweat, blood, and money...the numerous lives we sacrificied for the sake of someone else's freedom...you are the asshole...you know nothing about American Exceptionalism...you sir are an ignorant.

  • @jtmoore292007 Are the Iraqi people on their way to a free Democratic society!!!?? What planet are you from?

You mean like the "free" American society with the two party system, were the one with most of the money gets to become "king" By the way, everybody knows that the US have financed the war with Chinese money. Why not put forces into North Korea ey?!!

  • @bencubed And what credible source exactly did you get your statistics from?

  • Steve Earle writes amazing songs

  • John Walker Lindh proved what William Carlos Williams once wrote: "The pure products of America go crazy." Steve Earle only reminded us of that truth.

  • Just had fun reading all the comments. So many ignorant angry people!

    Sad but amusing too.

The evil and poison of one is the lifeblood of the other. And vice versa.

And there arose from the earth a race of armed men and they began exterminating each other. Then it was quiet again.

  • Great Man. Top Song. God Bless Him

  • Oh my god sone of these comments are unable to put into words, seriously people I mean just because you don't think the same way doesn't mean you have seniority over any other race or religion. And it's not was Steve is trying to say in this song. If you'd get past your ignorance I think you'd understand.

  • GOD BLESS HIM

  • I'm not gonna take either side, but I will say this is a good, well written song that makes one think. And man, that chanting at the end gives me chills!

  • There's all kind of fucked up violent shit and all kinds of beautiful, peaceful messages in the bible and Quran. Which you choose to believe in and live by is wholly up to you.

  • As a muslim, I feel that John Walker was treated unfairly. He was only following the commands of the Holy Qur'an which states that:

“Non-muslims are the vilest of animals.”

“Show mercy to one another, but be ruthless to the unbelievers”

    “How perverse are Jews!”,

“Strike off the heads of the unbelievers”,

“Fight those unbelievers who are near to you”,

“Christians & Jews are mischief makers and should be murdered or crucified”.

See? He was just following the commands of our peaceful religion.

  • Who cares about John Walker? it was his choice to side with who he sides with. Instead of pointing fingers, calling names, realize his choice and just exile him from America as an American and leave it at that. We have to remember that America partly funded The Taliban AND John Walker. We PAID him.

  • BEST SONG EVER, THNKS STEVE, U R BRAVE MAN

  • This song made me a fan of Steve Earle.

  • Your father comes out of the closet when you're a teenage boy and that's not going to f***k you up??? He was obviously searching for *something.* Prove he attacked US soldies (as opposed to Northern Alliance fighters.)

  • I used to be a fan of steve earle. Fuck him

  • fuck em all man, fuck em all

  • ALLAH ya rahmou

    satanist never win be sur

    ALLAH AKBAR

  • @Luishazong

and u ure the son of ur mother...

    hysteric

  • Comment removed

  • @Luishazong Funny, in the Qur'an there's a chapter called "Mary", that talks about the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him) exactly the way Christians preach it. The Qur'an has the stories of Adam and Eve, Abraham, Moses, Jacob, David and Goliath etc. Maybe if you didn't get all your information from the shiny glowy box (TV) you'd know that. Maybe if you'd pick up a Qur'an and read it, you would see that it preaches what you preach

  • @grif4life yeah DUDE, and you know why that is??? Becuase the Bible was written thousands of years before the queran, even the new testament, was written hundreds of years before the Qur'an, and WAIT FOR IT.... do you ever relized why it says the same thing??? BECAUSE MUHAMMAD READ THE BIBLE AND JUST STOLE/COPIED THE HOLY TEXTS, into his "new word of God" but added all the extra violent and demonical stuff to control people around him to get political power.

  • @Luishazong Just a heads up, there is not 1 mentioning of the word "sword" in the Qur'an, but in the bible it is mentioned over 100 times. "Smile, for even a smile is charity" -Mohammed (Peace be upon him). This is a violent idea? Even when the Prophet went back to the city that tortured him and his people, and killed off many muslims, he did not harm a single innocent. This is a murderous man? I believe it is you who is brainwashed and ignorant

  • @grif4life "he did not harm a single innocent" Dude, you really have to read the Surahs again, it specifically says, how Muhammed ORDERED the KILLING off entire villages of JEWS and looted them, and he was a warmongering person, if you actually read the fucking text before arguing you would know that... Even a non muslim (me) knows this, get your facts strait, you have been hardcore BRAINWASHED

  • @Luishazong "Allah" is just the word "God" in arabic. We worship God just as you do. By the way, wanna know what he said in arabic? He said "May God forgive his sins". Since when do satanists ask God to forgive a man's sins?

  • tell it steve you have a great heart

  • if there were just more like him

if we would all stand together and fight for the freedom of our bothers and sisters

  • Jesus Christ people. This isn't about "defending" crazy fucks over in Iraq or Afghanistan. or about defending anything. This is about understanding what would normally be ununderstandable. I'm a former Army officer and a consummate patriot, so don't even try going that route unless you've lost more than one friend or relative in these wars.

  • @dantose

    Well said.

  • Does anyone have lyrics for this song? He sounds like he is singing with his lips barely moving.

  • @MrTravton The lyrics to most of Steve's albums (except the most recent) are posted on a fan site. Search "unofficial Steve Earle" and you will find them.

  • i just read an interview where Earle explains his intentions to try and empathize with John because he is the same age as his own son and knew that his parents were watching the same thing somewhere.

  • I consider myself an atheist. This song has driven me to tears.Steve Earle is the poet of our times.

  • @Bluenose2 I feel exactly the same. And I like knowing that there are others like me

  • this should be a movie esp now

  • Hope JW will be alright when he gets out.

  • worst song ever

  • @NoBodysGamer Spoken as a true christian!

  • @MajorRoy

    Wrong, Atheist!

  • @NoBodysGamer No, you're simply a piece of shit.

  • @TheLeftyGrove

at least im not a traitor like you, go suck some muslim disk, SLAVE.

  • What a fucked-up world

  • @soterios1000 Well said! It seems that there is a lot of stupid people on youtube. Most of them don't understand that his is wrote from the perspective of John Walker. Steve Earle has said in countless occasions that he is in no way defending what he done, but just thought the song would be better from 'John's perspective.'

  • I am utterly shocked by some of comments calling Earle all sorts of names. As a writer he told a story to get a voice out there that isn't usually heard. It doesn't mean he agrees with Walker, it means he wanted to explore how what came to be did. Peace!

  • Sorry but...

    I dont understand a single Word :-(

  • 31 rednecks have no peace...

  • Thank God for Steve Earle...

  • ..it took a lot of guts to write this song. Those of you that don;t "get it", aren;t listening

  • لا إلـــــــــــه إلا الـــــلــــــه

    اللهم ثبت جون ووكر

john walker is a hero with his friends in gala i janji ... they didn't kill innocent people

they didn't have some thing to eat for 7 days ... and they were wounded

  • @hemmode Worse they didn't possess the guns the americants said they used. And for argument's sake the american reply came by B-52 and C-130 gunships. Who's the super coward now???

  • gorgeous song, steve. how do you do it?

  • all-ah = the moon god = the god of mohamads tribe not the god of the christians nor the jews

    the cresent moon???

  • @lanceehansen Sin(a.k.a. Nanna) = the moon god of Mesopotaia, "Nanna" in Sumarian is "Sin" in Semitic Langauges, e.i. Amhaic, Arabic and Hebrew. ) worshiped as far back as 2600 BC. Yaweh only popped up around 950 - 850 BC(in Exodus Moses ). Save us from Sin takes a nice new twist eh? further more, Islam teaches that the god they worship is the same god as the Christians and Hebrew. Moses and Jesus are even considered highly respected prophets. the crestent moon marks new Islamic months.

  • @lanceehansen There is no documented proof for your claim. Get some common sense.

  • Bullshit, why do artist get famous and then think they are smarter than the rest if us? Just because they can write a song we like does not mean they know more than us. This is bullshit, John Walker is a traitor and I hope he is miserabe the rest of his piece of shit life. JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP AND SING.

  • @williamviajr Earle's been in the bussness a long time man, and i'm willing to bet he doesn't care what you think, as long as the song makes you think/feel something. like all art, it's about the artists message. if you don't like trying to see into a broken young man, then don't listen to the song. further more, it's impossible to both shut up and sing. after a line like that, i'm pretty sure Earle's a lot smarter then you and knows a thing or 2 about broken/lost souls, so shut up and listen?

  • @williamviajr

It's important to understand the motivations of folks, even if we don't agree with them. Or, you know, we can be screeching, reactionary, idiots stuck in the same patterns.

  • la ellaha ella allah

  • is last part from the qu'ran? which verse?

  • @LUISHZONG, you see that is the same kinda thinking that certain people have, i guess you can say american patriots, but you gotta understand man, one love, no war, the color of the skin is no different than the color of the eye

  • the last part of the song is crazy i wonder what thyre saying

  • @roh808

It is the phrase "I testify there is no God but God (Allah)", which is a central phrase that Muslims must ascribe to.

  • Comment removed

  • @roh808 I just realized you were talking about the part where Steve is not singing - I believe it is an imam (leader of a mosque) praying, but don't know the translation. The chorus, which Steve does sing, is "there is no God but God."

  • @roh808 its quran

  • yes it is

  • We love you brother Hamzah Walker May Allah bless our brother and give him strength and patience.

    Is Steve Earle a Muslim?

  • @salbal777

No, Steve is definitely not a Muslim. He has a Christian background, but is probably best described as a universalist. He doesn't belong to any organized religion, and talks about the Narcotics Anonymous community as his spiritual home.

As others have said, he is not agreeing with Walker here, just trying to understand him.

  • @salbal777 Steve Earle can't be called a Muslim for these lyrics. He merely repeats John Walker Lindh's quotes from a late 2001 Time interview at Mazar-i Sharif. It's Lindh's perspective. A story telling device. Still, Earle only sings the Christian claim "THERE IS NO GOD BUT GOD." He does not complete the sentence required to convert to Islam... "... AND MOHAMMAD IS HIS PROPHET." But Earle has compassion. Bez me la hey rock man eh Rahim! PEOPLE OF THE BOOK, UNITE! EXTREMISTS GO TO HELL ! ! !

  • John Walker we love u God bless u my brother

  • die american pigs

  • I do not perceive this courageous, brilliant song to be a "defense" of anything.....I see no agenda here. Rather, I think it is a speculative and poetic 'glimpse' into a young mind aliented from the apparent tawdriness and moral and spiritual bankruptcy of the contemporary culture of the West, and its search for, and finding, identity and authenticity in a romanticised notion of (Islamic) 'purity'.........But that's just me.

  • @rexmundi2012 Straight up. This song follows the line of Kerouac's "On the Road," Ginsberg's "Howl," Wallace's "Infinite Jest" and "Westward the Course of Empire Takes Its Way," Joyce's "Ulysses," Pynchon's "Gravity's Rainbow" and "The Crying of Lot 49."

They were all trying to gain perspective, realizing that the lens of unrelenting Nationalism is conducive to the destruction of the Nation and the people.

Bless Steve Earle, a true human being.

  • @rexmundi2012

    (Islamic) purity... ?

I think you all are off your rockers including this man that wrote this crapfest...

Two wrongs do not make a right for those that defend this song & the man it is about with other screwed up incidents that occured overseas. The rich boy traitor John Walker should have been hung on Pay Per View. All the proceeds to go toward wounded veterans or families of the deceased. Simple.

  • @bryan581167 Indeed. Thank you for the insult. And that would be "a romanitcised notion of (Islamic) purity", actually, but I recognize that a quote taken in context might be too much to expect given your own wonderfully shallow, uni-dimensional interpretation of this work (but perhaps it is merely a vocabulary issue?). Look up "romanticised" and see if that helps. "Simple" is indeed an apt summary of your view. God Bless America. ;)

  • @bryan581167 Should some of the money go to the families of innocent people our soldiers killed for fun in Afghanistan and Iraq, too?

  • @TheLeftyGrove people? they not people. they cockroaches and your a traitor, move to Iraq and stay there Dhimmi

  • @NoBodysGamer Hilarious that you are a bigot, considering you can barely type in English. Care to try that again.

Wow, with your ignorance, I sure am embarrassed that you are an American. I bet you would be in the bottom 1% of the entire Middle East. Dumbass redneck.

  • @TheLeftyGrove LOL, you have nothing smarter to say then how i speak English? At least I speak 3 languages you dumbfuck and im not American (I do support US army and their important work in ME).

But you, obviously one of those unicorn hugging LibFags that think everyone is good and muslims are peaceful people and you can solve everything with hugs and kisses, guess what they dont want your hugs but your dumb head on stake..

    Bottom 1% of what?

  • @NoBodysGamer Bottom 1% of humanity, you ignorant racist POS.

  • @rexmundi2012 I don't disagree at all, but the linguist in me sees a certain irony and a deeper meaning in the word "romanticized" in this case.

  • @rexmundi2012 I agree almost completely - but I don't think that it has to do with a spiritual or moral bankruptcy as such, rather than the fact that someone was alienated on the grounds of their race - something which many people hid behind a mask of righteousness. the US government was so busy fighting a war that they failed to realise that their "pro american" propaganda failed to provide a common identity for everyone - not specifically around religion, but at all. Result: everyone loses.

  • Steve Earle is a GENIUS as far as songwriting goes. However, he's wrong in this apologist depiction of islam. It's a politically correct FALSEHOOD that Islam is a religion of peace. Islam is UNIQUE among the religions of the world as being the ONLY religion that has a developed doctrine, theology, & legal system that mandates PHYSICAL warfare against all non-muslims. I love ALL people including muslims, but I despise the ideology of islam. In TODAY'S world, unfortunately, Islam is a problem.

  • @kfkrobok Well said. thumbs up.

  • People who criticize Steve Earle for writing this song simply don't understand the conventions of American folk music. For America's entire history folk musicians have written songs about people regarded as villains, not heroizing them but telling their songs. Robert Ford has a dozen songs about him, as do Stacker Lee, Jesse James, and Pancho Villa. Steve is just continuing the tradition of powerful, beautiful songs about flawed and sometimes frightening figures. God Bless Steve Earle!

  • i just looked up this song so i could see all the stuff people said about islam and walker lol

  • I never actually listened to this song. Maybe the storyline, almost like I was afraid to like it? It made me very sad...I dont think ANY religion should be blamed. I was raised Southern Babtist, no religion would ask for this. Why would they.

  • ... in contiunation... Steve Earle is BRILLIANT here for using something called "irony" to make a statement that dying for any cause (especially martyrdom or religion) is just a waste of life. maybe some of you should get to know steve earle a little better.

  • Comment removed

  • actually, what I got out of this is the naive nature of brainwashed fools - whether Christian or Muslim - who go around fighting battles and wars and killing other people in the name of God or Allah. in exchange for perceived martyrdom, these fools are actually just wasting their own lives in prison or getting executed. whoever thinks this song is honoring John Walker or Muslims (or ANY religion) has got it all wrong.

  • This song totally makes me cry for John Walker Lindh.... A brilliant mind like his should be in a school or speaking to audiences or writing volumes of books....Not spending 20 years in a prison.

God bless you Abu Sulayman Al-Irlandi(aka John Walker Lindh)

  • @PalestineOnMyMind His prison is actually in my hometown. It's hard to think about. This is the same prison where Timothy McVeigh and Juan Raul Garza were executed in 2001. The prison is home to many Muslim extremists who've plotted to kill Americans.

My brother works at the prison and is currently serving in Saudi Arabia.

It's difficult to think about how a country could drive one of it's son's to such ends. And that a religion would endorse it.

  • @Ematched He went there to fight the Northern Alliance which consisted of the russians comming down and raping and killing. He never picked up arms against his country nor was he ever willing to. How is what he did any different than the people who signed up for the military after 9-11?

  • @WingZero75 there is no difference; lets remeber the marines that raped an iraqi girl in front of her family, then murdered all of them, or the US soldiers in Afganistan that killed locals on a dare

  • @badbadkingjohn yeah, well most soldiers are great men who fight for righteousness

  • @badbadkingjohn ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING. THOSE WERE SCUMS AND THEY GOT PUNISHED. JOHN WALKER LINDH IS A TERRORIST. MAYBE I SHOULD FUCK UR MOTHER IN THE ASS AND KEEP HER AS MY SEX SLAVE.

  • @hojoleon And fucking moses (after delivering the ten commandments which said not to kill) murdered all those who disagreed with his bullshit. All religion is bullshit and has nothing to do with any god. Fuck your murdering religion you asswipe.

  • John Allah bless you

  • If this song offends you, then you are whats wrong with America. Some people worship God, some worship their country, some worship George Bush, Some worship their own voice. If this song offends you, you are the problem, not the solution.

  • @GoingToWar Nobody knows who killed Spann. Please spare us your sexual fantasies.

  • @GoingToWar

    I like your ideas.

  • @FatherTimeST1300 at least there is some one like minded here.

  • @GoingToWar it makes me sick to share a country with people like you

  • Many roads lead to the same destination !

Thanks for ALL your great work Steve !

  • sometimes a man's got to fight for what he believes in

pray to g*d and ask HIM what the right course of action is

    let love be your guide

  • As Christopher Hitchens says, religion poisons everything. That includes the minds of the young who long for something they don't understand.

  • Eddie Meduza - Legends never die!

  • typically, again, earle is one of the few musicians to have the balls to write the truth about the good 'ol glorly'. and i'm not an american hater. i live in australia and we, as part of the 'coalition of the willin' (huh-coalition of the corrupt) are as much to blame for screwing kids up with our shitty materialism, dropping bombs on innocent civilians and then wondering why the kids get pissed off @ what our wonderful western dream has to offer them.

  • He survived a masscare by U.S. and northern rapist alliance

  • I've not been much of a fan of Mr. Walker Lindh in the past. However due to Steve's song I'm given pause to consider his situation. I don't feel that he set out to hurt his fellow Americans, but was thrust into an unfortunate situation where he had to choose between his religion and the home in which he grew up in.

I think to the state which I am from. How much I love the people yet disagree with them on so many thigns. How the rest of the US differs from them socially and economically.

  • I think to myself what my actions would be if the time came when the rest of the US attempted to attack (for whatever reason) my extended family of my home state. I can't say that I wouldn't fight my fellow Americans. I'm not condoning 9/11, but I wonder whether Mr. Walker Lindh was actually the product of a thorough brainwashing of the likes of Bin Laden, or whether he was merely fighting for the people he loved.

I have that much more respect for Steve Earl. His work continues to impress me.

  • This is what great artists are meant to do--look at things that make most wince, without blinking.

  • @JosephCa64

    Thanks.

I wish I could have put it so well in less than 20 words.

To go off at a tangent, I am inclined to respect anyone who lives what he believes. I may not like it but one possible measure of Good is Sincerity.

Anyone know where John Walker is now? I am not an American - a Brit - but I worry about the level of vengeance the US exacts against those perceived to be anti-American.

  • @prnicho Walker is currently in federal prison in Indiana, doing a 20 year stretch. He's been in for 7 years now.

  • @prnicho It's also interesting to note, that one of the parts of his plea deal, was to drop all abuse charges against US military personnel. Many speculate this is why he got such a "light," sentence. Because we tortured him and there were US soldiers, who said as much.

  • If you can't feel sorry for him, you're no better than him. These people have just been misled. There's no excuse for the actions of terrorists, but nothing should be unforgivable. That's what God says to do: Forgive.

  • @SirCoughsalot ehh terrorists dont get "forgiveness" they should all be hung in public to show the others what awaits them if they get cought trying to terrorize the usa.

  • @omg99wcftw You didn't even read that comment, did you, hoss. Whatever. I'm not gonna argue with you.

  • @SirCoughsalot

WTF did you say? ... Misled..? ... These "people' have just been misled. That's what you said, you phukin nitwit. Go back and look if you think I'm shitting you. That's exactly what you said! "MISLED". Is that what you meant to write? I read it three (3) times and still can't believe it. "These "people" have just been misled". Are you phukinuts? Where the hell do you live? Have another hit of Kool Aid, boy. Make sure you get the High-Test stuff.

  • @FatherTimeST1300 You worship your own voice.

  • I like steve earle, but that boy is a traitor that was fighting alongside people who would give thier life to slit any of you boys throats. I give him no pity.

  • Brandon Neely - a good man.

  • God is gonna` kill us all, fucking stupid religion, be it Ireland, Iraq, Israel or the USA, this madness has to end, we are surely enlightened by now, are`t we?

  • This is an amazing song. Really awesome. That being said, fundamentalist Islam is just as retarded as any other fundie bullshit.

  • Nothing on this earth gives people the right to take other peoples life. In this case we dont need to understand the other side of the story unless we would like to learn from it.

  • "Religion poisons everything." Even nice little rich boys from Marin County.

  • This is one stupid video; no more checking out steve earle's music for this listener.

    John Walker? hope he rots.

  • @chord972 You obviously don't know much about Steve Earle's music if this song surprises you. He's a storyteller, with a knack for writing from other people's perspectives.

  • It behooves us all to walk in others' shoes for a while. This is a good song with an important message about the sources of alienation.

    Ron

  • love you bro walker

  • It's a brave song.

It does NOT make Walker a hero, but it sure makes Steve Earle one!

It does not 'defend Islam', but it sure brings out the Islamophobic idiots here.
