I wrote a detailed commetary translating many of the words about the foods mentioned and questions other writers asked. It vanished when I clicked on post. So where did it go?
Romania was one of the countries in Europe that did NOT treat Jews poorly, during Fascism, after Fascism, and even during Communism, when they blamed Everything on the Jews-
The Italians are the same way. Italians are not Anti-Semitic-
I don't know Yiddish (other than the handful of words that manage to trickle down the generations), but I understand "mamaligele" and "pastramele"! XD
@journeymanwriter Oh please share. I undestand the more German parts of Yiddish. but is this about pastrami and marmalade? what are mamaligele and pastramele? Thanks in advance. :)

I think I heard "mamaliga" "branza" "pizda" "stele" and "baclajele" ??? :)))))) For english speakers means" "corn maze" "vagina" "stars" and... I don't know what "baclajele means :))))))
@xsabian DAR ROmanii sunt mai buni decat altii? toti suntem nascuti in pacat.............numai cei nascuti din nou sunt pe drumul cel bun, restu`........?!
Brilliant piece written by a master---yet, I have to wonder why the writer and others found such great nostalgia in an unwelcoming (to say the leas)t place. Human nature is amazing in loving its past---I feature the song many times on my program on WFDU---much requested---and much loved by me as well--as are the 2 here---they both have been on the program.
@PooBah891 I think it's more about the nostalgia, like you said.. and Nostalgic feelings are ones with the realization that there is no going back.. This was their home, like my roots derived from Lithuania.. There had to be some good times amongst the tribulations.. Part of the bitter-sweetness of the Jewish experience in whole
Nothing about sweet communism and jewish representatives from RO or christians died in communist prisons in unimaginables tortures? Nothing about the sweet bargaining between russians and the so damn democratic westerners after the second world war? Nothing at all?!? Oh but please be kind and add also those foreigners who "adapt" so well to the "local" culture when is to do their bussiness and after critices form above the Bruxelles' nose the RO corruption! Poor innocence!

@LeonardMIS Could you please suck my cock now? Please do.
As you see, I have the taste for jewish music myself, I see no problem in that, or in jewish culture.
But you, sir, can choke on my balls and die.
Why? Because EVERY country that suits you is "Democracy" and EVERY country that does not is "Fascist" or "Communist".
I have a question...What is Saudi Arabia?
