You can use fabric paint of any kind in a compressor paint sprayer, much cheaper. You can get fabric paint at micheals or hobby lobby.

It is permanent in the fabric
It will not rub off on your clothing or your skin

@fumokane Upholstery Spray and the rest of the Simply Spray products will not rub off or wash out. The paint does take about 72 hours to completely dry so I wouldn't recommend sitting on the couch until it was finished drying!
does that couch smell like paint? i mean how could you sleep in that smelling paint?

We used Upholstery Fabric Paint made by Simply Spray. There is also paint for stenciling available.

@TuskandShell We used Upholstery Paint by Simply Spray to paint the couch. It is the only non-toxic, non-flammable aerosol fabric paint.
