  • The most storied ocean liner in the world: the QE2. A fantastic tribute. Really well done.

HOWEVER, Dubai gives her the royal welcome and then lets her gather dust...for 3 years now. The conversion plans sickened me. How the hell do you propose getting rid of the historic Cunard red and black funnel? Like others have said, get her back to the UK...or even to Fort Lauderdale FL (so there's another Cunarder on another American shore) or even Sydney next to the Opera House. But not there.

  • BRING HER BACK TO THE UK PLEASE !!!!....

  • "Sheikha" QE2 is sitting there at Port Rashid, useless and ignored by all. We must bring her back to the UK. Those interested in forming a committee and taking action please contact me. See my videos of the Ship in Dubai dating just a few days back. Terribly sad. Tragic. She must be sailed back to Southampton! There is no other way.

  • @Flyssc1 In early 2011 a storm hit port rashid and the qe2 broke from its mooring lines and sailed out of port rashid with no control so basically i think the ship itself got sick of sitting there and tried to escape but she was caught and tooken back.

  • Bring her back to Britain! Whether she be docked on the Clyde or in Southampton, she deserves to remain in Britain. She's ours. Message me if you would like to sign a pettion to get this to happen!

  • I think the QE2 would be better off preserved at Sydney, Australia somewhere near the opera house. It would just look better and more attracting, in my opinion.

  • I'm kind of glad that the bad economic situation has saved the famous QE2 , as nothing has been done to her and still in original state before her withdrawal. A skeleton vrew of about 50 from V-Ships are maintaining her to top quality standards. The original plans for her were GHASTLY , chopping her up with her funnel being removed and a glass replacement being put in instead.

  • THE NEW QUEEN ELIZABETH WAS BUILT IN ITALY IN THE 2010

  • How sad the end for a Grand old Lady of the Sea!, Far better that she be scuttled in mid Atlantic, than to end up in the hands of their ilk! What a tragedy!

  • Stunning video, brought a lump to my throat. Let's hope she's treated better than the Queen Mary.

  • Queen Elizabeth 2 is the first Cunard to have a whaleback bow, a feature seen on Normandie, Ile De France, & France. Since then, All Black hull Ocean Liners had whaleback bows. That includes Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria & the new Queen Elizabeth.

  • A little piece of Britain on a vast sea. She will be missed.

  • Bring the QE2 back to Glasgow (via 2012 Olympics). I did a facebook group but I can't put the link in here. Try searching 'Move the QE2 to Glasgow (via London 2012)

  • @del69blue

If she returns to the UK (which I very much doubt) she should return to her home port Southampton. Don't worry too much del69blue in the current economic climate, she will stay where she is. God Bless her, a truly magnificent, beautiful ship.

    GLF - Southampton.

  • @GLFVIDEO With respect, her home is not Southampton but Clydebank. That would be a far more fitting resting place.

  • @johnblack03

She was built on the Clyde, that is all. During her lifetime she travelled up and down Southampton water, in and out of the city, Southampton "Gateway to the world". Southampton was her home port, Southampton was proudly displayed on her stern. With respect of course, you are quite wrong.

  • @GLFVIDEO With utmost respect , no I am not.

  • I know America is in a recession, I don't care as long as QE2 is not scrapped, that's all I care about

  • future now uncertain, let hope she does not make the last trip to india for cutting up,though cant see the srap yard paying that kind of money, put who going to pay that kind of money and how are they going to get there money back, this is a major risk that back fired on the cureent owners,£50m for 30k tonnes of scrap,as there will be a sale clause that says she cant go back to sea for cruise use i bet.

  • A year ago today, QE2 arrived in Dubai. Nakheel has drydocked her and given her a new coat of paint, yet her future is uncertain, given the financial status of her owners. Thankfully, the radical conversion plans are on hold and she sits, with engines run in rotation, ready to get back to sea. Plans for her to go to Capetown appear to have run afoul too. BRING HER BACK HOME TO THE UK!

  • A great video for a great ship! I saw her a couple of years ago when she was docked in my country during a world voyage, but I wasn't really interested in her then so I'm quite annoyed with myself, but I hope I get to see her again in Cape Town or Dubai. Thanks again!

  • This video almost moved me to tears! The wonderful Thaxted tune by Gustav Holst was the perfect soundtrack to this video. I never got to sail on the QE2 but have always wanted to and Ihope that I get the chance to enjoy her once she is a floating hotel. Since I'm of this generation, maybe I'll get to enjoy the Queen Mary 2. God Bless the QE2!

  • HI is it possible to have a copy of this dvd please.

Fantastic footage of this wonderful liner.

  • Stunning photography of the most beautiful ship in the world. While there is serious concern what the new owners will ultimately do with her, it is obvious from this video that they are very proud of what they purchased. Let's all hope they respect her in her new role as flaoting hotel.

  • Wonderful video. Will be amazing to see QE2 at sea in the next month or so on her way to Cape Town.

  • Beautiful video, can't say so much about her fate (from what I've heard.)
