@Arabchick18 Belly dancing arose from various dancing styles which were performed in the Middle East and North Africa. One theory is that belly dance has roots in the ancient Arab tribal religions as a dance to the goddess of fertility. A second theory is that belly dance was always danced as entertainment, some believe that the movements of dancing girls depicted in carvings from Pharaonic times are typical of belly dancing (wiki)

I love the video of this dance...it's so sensual and not the typical belly dancing. Could you tell me what is the name? I'd like to do a search on it.
It's actually about a guy who is being asked what he sees in and why he loves a slave girl. He basically explains what he sees in her that others don't and why he can't live without her etc.
I love this song sooooo much! Music is so bordercrossing ,I´m from Sweden and shouldn´t be listening to this type of music but There you have ít!!! I loooove it! I hardly ever listen to anything else but oriental music nowadays.
@linzo005 - I mean ... people do not expect a swedish woman to listen to oriental music....I always get reactions when I discuss it with friends and family...even from arabic friends...maybe because It´s not that common...well i don´t care I love it and will continue to listen and go to my bellydance-classes ;-)
@mollestal, this is not oriental music. Oriental music is very different. This is pure Arabic music. Why take out the ownership of a region that the music belongs to and de-identify with oriental music. Bottom line it is Arabic music, singing in Arabic and it belongs to that region does not have anything to do with oriental music. I should ask what is oriental to you or how do you define oriental. Oriental music to me is Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean and etc……
@siddf Vietnam and China and Korea is asian!! Arabicmusic is a subgroup to orientalmusic..I dont know what you are thinking when you say arabicmusic is not oriental...My dance-teacher is Lebaneese and we dance to all kind of orientalmusic =arabic ,lebaneese,tunisian,.etc.... My class is called Orientaldance and we learn all sorts of different "bellydances"....You need to check your facts....Asianmusic and orientalmusic is not the same..try bellydancing to a Japaneese song and you´ll see....
@siddf music is universal. as long the artist respects the heritage and the origin - the only parameter is if you like or not the performance. The singer's faith, color of skin, etc. - not relevant.
everything in the whole wild world revolves around the rose and if u don't believe me read dan brown !! no body knows that i am the holy grail ,,,the curved at the front and flat at the back ! king arthur died before seeing me because his wife ran with a syphic soldier !! world war 3 is about the rose !
