Not hating at all. I just find it hard to believe that a director/producer with over 30 films (some involving heavy stunts) would not advise the talent of the shot they were going after and where the camera was going to be. The cinematographer also has over 30 feature films and I'm sure that he told him what shots they were going for. The film was shot on Arri Alexa and Red Epic, each of which cost $50k. Even a Cine-Alta is around $80k. The whole day may have cost $1m, but not the camera.
Wow! Do you really believe that the surfer was not aware of the camera? There is a helicopter over his head. Filming a feature.....HELLO...They go over every shot and the plan before shooting. DUH! Do you think that they did not have the camera in a water-tight housing? Yeah, most likely they did. And since when does a Red cost a million dollars? Damn! Some people will say anything to get views.
@RobWardProd I was there and know for a fact that the surfer had no idea that the camera was going to come that close to him. The set up with all the additional equipment puts a RED rig like that at well over 500,000.00. The video does pretty much show what it says unlike some of the totally whack videos on youtube. I guess you are just hating.
Cool. Regardless, it is still pretty nutz
